Y FUÉ el espíritu de Dios sobre Azarías hijo de Obed;
And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:

Él salió al encuentro de Asá y le dijo: «¡Escuchadme, Asá, y todo Judá y Benjamín! Yahvé estará con vosotros mientras vosotros estéis con él. Si lo buscáis, él se dejará hallar de vosotros; pero si lo abandonáis, él os abandonará.
Y salió al encuentro á Asa, y díjole: Oidme, Asa, y todo Judá y Benjamín: Jehová es con vosotros, si vosotros fuereis con él: y si le buscareis, será hallado de vosotros; mas si le dejareis, él también os dejará.
And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

Durante mucho tiempo Israel estuvo sin el Dios verdadero, sin sacerdote que enseñara y sin ley.
Muchos días ha estado Israel sin verdadero Dios y sin sacerdote, y sin enseñador y sin ley:

Las naciones se despedazaban unas a otras, y las ciudades entre sí, porque Dios los turbaba con toda clase de adversidades.

And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.

¡Pero vosotros, esforzaos! No dejéis que vuestras manos desfallezcan, porque vuestra obra será recompensada».

Cuando Asá oyó estas palabras y la profecía del profeta Oded, cobró ánimo y quitó los ídolos abominables de toda la tierra de Judá y de Benjamín, y de las ciudades que había conquistado en la región montañosa de Efraín; y restauró el altar de Yahvé que estaba delante del pórtico de Yahvé.
Y como oyó Asa las palabras y profecía de Obed profeta, fué confortado, y quitó las abominaciones de toda la tierra de Judá y de Benjamín, y de las ciudades que él había tomado en el monte de Ephraim; y reparó el altar de Jehová que estaba delante del pórtico de Jehová.
And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.

Luego reunió a todo Judá y Benjamín, y a los forasteros de Efraín, Manasés y Simeón que residían con ellos; pues muchos de Israel se habían pasado a él al ver que Yahvé, su Dios, estaba con él.
Después hizo juntar á todo Judá y Benjamín, y con ellos los extranjeros de Ephraim, y de Manasés, y de Simeón: porque muchos de Israel se habían pasado á él, viendo que Jehová su Dios era con él.

Prestaron juramento a Yahvé en alta voz, con júbilo, y al son de trompetas y cuernos.

El rey Asá llegó incluso a destituir a su madre Maaca de su posición de reina madre, porque ella había hecho una imagen abominable de Asera. Asá derribó su imagen, la redujo a polvo y la quemó en el torrente Cedrón.

And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
