1Als aber Rehabeams Königtum sich gefestigt hatte und er mächtig geworden war, verliess er das Gesetz des Herrn und ganz Israel mit ihm.
2Da begab es sich im fünften Jahre des Königs Rehabeam, dass Sisak, der König von Ägypten, wider Jerusalem heraufzog - denn sie waren dem Herrn untreu geworden -
3mit zwölfhundert Streitwagen und 60 000 Reitern, und zahllos war das Kriegsvolk, das mit ihm aus Ägypten kam: Libyer, Sukkiter und Äthiopier.
4Und er nahm die befestigten Städte ein, die zu Juda gehörten, und drang bis Jerusalem vor.
5Da trat der Prophet Semaja vor Rehabeam und vor die Fürsten Judas, die sich vor Sisak nach Jerusalem zurückgezogen hatten, und sprach zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr: Ihr habt mich verlassen, so will auch ich nun euch verlassen und der Gewalt Sisaks übergeben.
6Da demütigten sich die Fürsten Israels und der König und sprachen: Der Herr ist gerecht.
7Als der Herr sah, dass sie sich gedemütigt hatten, erging das Wort des Herrn an Semaja also: Sie haben sich gedemütigt, ich will sie nicht verderben, ich will ihnen in kurzer Frist Rettung schaffen, und nicht soll sich mein Grimm durch Sisak über Jerusalem ergiessen.
8Doch sollen sie ihm dienstbar werden, damit sie erkennen, was es heisst, mir dienen oder den irdischen Königreichen dienen.
9Sisak also, der König von Ägypten, zog wider Jerusalem herauf, und er nahm die Schätze des Tempels und die Schätze des Königspalastes, alles nahm er weg, auch die goldenen Schilde, die Salomo hatte machen lassen. (a) 2Ch 9:15 16 V 9-14: 1Kön 14:21-31
10An ihrer Stelle liess König Rehabeam eherne Schilde machen und übergab sie der Obhut der Obersten der Trabanten, die am Königspalaste die Torwache hatten.
11Sooft nun der König in den Tempel des Herrn ging, kamen die Trabanten und trugen sie und brachten sie hernach wieder in die Wachtstube zurück.
12Weil er sich aber demütigte, wandte sich der Zorn des Herrn von ihm, sodass er ihn nicht gänzlich zugrunde richtete; auch stand es ja damals in Juda noch gut.
13So ward König Rehabeam zu Jerusalem in seiner Regierung gefestigt; Rehabeam war nämlich 41 Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und siebzehn Jahre regierte er in Jerusalem, der Stadt, die der Herr aus allen Stämmen Israels erwählt hatte, dass er seinen Namen daselbst wohnen lasse. Seine Mutter hiess Naama, die Ammoniterin.
14Er handelte schlecht, denn er richtete seinen Sinn nicht darauf, den Herrn zu suchen.
15Die Geschichte Rehabeams aber, von Anfang bis zu Ende, steht ja geschrieben in der Chronik des Propheten Semaja und der des Sehers Iddo. Die Kriege zwischen Rehabeam und Jerobeam aber währten die ganze Zeit. (a) 2Ch 11:2; 12:5; 13:22
16Und Rehabeam legte sich zu seinen Vätern und ward in der Davidsstadt begraben. Und sein Sohn Abia wurde König an seiner Statt.

1Y COMO Roboam hubo confirmado el reino, dejó la ley de Jehová, y con él todo Israel.
2Y en el quinto año del rey Roboam subió Sisac rey de Egipto contra Jerusalem, (por cuanto se habían rebelado contra Jehová,)
3Con mil y doscientos carros, y con sesenta mil hombres de á caballo: mas el pueblo que venía con él de Egipto, no tenía número; á saber, de Libios, Sukienos, y Etiopes.
4Y tomó las ciudades fuertes de Judá, y llegó hasta Jerusalem.
5Entonces vino Semeías profeta á Roboam y á los príncipes de Judá, que estaban reunidos en Jerusalem por causa de Sisac, y díjoles: Así ha dicho Jehová: Vosotros me habéis dejado, y yo también os he dejado en manos de Sisac.
6Y los príncipes de Israel y el rey se humillaron, y dijeron: Justo es Jehová.
7Y como vió Jehová que se habían humillado, fué palabra de Jehová á Semeías, diciendo: Hanse humillado; no los destruiré; antes los salvaré en breve, y no se derramará mi ira contra Jerusalem por mano de Sisac.
8Empero serán sus siervos; para que sepan qué es servirme á mí, y servir á los reinos de las naciones.
9Subió pues Sisac rey de Egipto á Jerusalem, y tomó los tesoros de la casa de Jehová, y los tesoros de la casa del rey; todo lo llevó: y tomó los paveses de oro que Salomón había hecho.
10Y en lugar de ellos hizo el rey Roboam paveses de metal, y entrególos en manos de los jefes de la guardia, los cuales custodiaban la entrada de la casa del rey.
11Y cuando el rey iba á la casa de Jehová, venían los de la guardia, y traíanlos, y después los volvían á la cámara de la guardia.
12Y como él se humilló, la ira de Jehová se apartó de él, para no destruirlo del todo: y también en Judá las cosas fueron bien.
13Fortificado pues Roboam, reinó en Jerusalem: y era Roboam de cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó á reinar, y diecisiete años reinó en Jerusalem, ciudad que escogió Jehová de todas las tribus de Israel, para poner en ella su nombre. Y el nombre de su madre fué Naama Ammonita.
14E hizo lo malo, porque no apercibió su corazón para buscar á Jehová.
15Y las cosas de Roboam, primeras y postreras, ¿no están escritas en los libros de Semeías profeta y de Iddo vidente, en la cuenta de los linajes? Y entre Roboam y Jeroboam hubo perpetua guerra.
16Y durmió Roboam con sus padres, y fué sepultado en la ciudad de David: y reinó en su lugar Abías su hijo.

1And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.
2And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,
3With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.
4And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.
5Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.
6Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.
7And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
8Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.
9So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
10Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king’s house.
11And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.
12And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.
13So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess.
14And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.
15Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
16And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.

1When the kingdom of Rehoboam was established and he was strong, he abandoned the LORD’s law, and all Israel with him.
2In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had trespassed against the LORD,
3with twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen. The people were without number who came with him out of Egypt: the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.
4He took the fortified cities which belonged to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.
5Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah, who were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, “The LORD says, ‘You have forsaken me, therefore I have also left you in the hand of Shishak.’”
6Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, “The LORD is righteous.”
7When the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the LORD’s word came to Shemaiah, saying, “They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath won’t be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
8Nevertheless they will be his servants, that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.”
9So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem and took away the treasures of the LORD’s house and the treasures of the king’s house. He took it all away. He also took away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
10King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.
11As often as the king entered into the LORD’s house, the guard came and bore them, then brought them back into the guard room.
12When he humbled himself, the LORD’s wrath turned from him, so as not to destroy him altogether. Moreover, there were good things found in Judah.
13So King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem and reigned; for Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.
14He did that which was evil, because he didn’t set his heart to seek the LORD.
