1David ging nun von dort weg und rettete sich in die Höhle Adullam. Dies hörten seine Brüder und sein ganzes Vaterhaus und sie zogen zu ihm dorthin hinab.
2Um ihn scharten sich auch allerlei Bedrängte und alle, die einen Gläubiger hatten, und alle Unzufriedenen. So ward er ihr Anführer, und bei ihm waren an 400 Mann.
3Von da ging David nach der Mispa in Moab; da sprach er zu Moabs König: "Dürften nicht mein Vater und meine Mutter bei euch bleiben, bis ich weiß, was Gott mit mir vorhat?"
4Also ließ er sie beim König von Moab. Und sie wohnten bei ihm, solange David auf der Bergfeste war.
5Da sprach der Prophet Gat zu David: "Du darfst nicht auf der Bergfeste bleiben. Auf! Kehr zurück ins Land Juda!" Da machte sich David auf den Weg und kam in den Wald von Cheret.
6Da hörte Saul, daß David und die Leute bei ihm entdeckt seien. Saul aber saß eben auf der Gibea unter der Tamariske auf der Höhe, den Speer in der Hand, und alle seine Diener standen um ihn.
7Da sprach Saul zu seinen Dienern, die ihn umstanden: "Hört doch, ihr Söhne Benjamins! Schenkt irgendeinem von euch der Isaisohn Felder und Weinberge und macht er irgendeinen von euch zum Hauptmann über Tausend und Hundert,
8daß ihr euch alle gegen mich verschworen habt und keiner mir angezeigt hat, daß sich mein Sohn mit dem Sohne Isais verbündete, und daß sich keiner von euch meinetwegen härmte und mir anzeigte, daß mein Sohn meinen Sklaven gegen mich zum Lauern aufgehetzt hat, wie es jetzt ist?"
9Da hob der Edomiter Doëg an - er stand nämlich bei Sauls Dienern -: "Ich habe gesehen, wie der Isaisohn nach Nob zu Achitubs Sohn Achimelek gekommen ist.
10Und dieser fragte für ihn den Herrn; auch Zehrung hat er ihm gegeben. Ebenso hat er ihm das Schwert des Philisters Goliat gegeben."
11Da entbot der König den Priester Achimelek, Achitubs Sohn, und sein ganzes Vaterhaus, die Priester zu Nob. Und sie kamen alle zum König.
12Da sprach Saul: "Hör einmal, Sohn Achitubs!" Er sprach: "Ja, Herr!"
13Da sprach Saul zu ihm: "Warum habt ihr euch gegen mich verschworen, du und Isais Sohn? Du gabst ihm Brot und Schwert und befragtest für ihn Gott. So konnte er gegen mich als Lauerer auftreten, wie es jetzt der Fall ist.
14Da erwiderte Achimelek dem König und sprach: "Aber wer ist unter all deinen Dienern so treu wie David? Dazu des Königs Schwiegersohn und auserwählt für deine Leibwache und geehrt in deinem Hause!
15Habe ich erst heute angefangen, für ihn Gott zu befragen? Das sei ferne von mir! Lege der König seinem Sklaven und dessen ganzem väterlichen Hause nichts zur Last! Denn dein Sklave hat von all dem nichts gewußt, weder Unwichtiges noch Wichtiges."
16Da sprach der König: "Du mußt sterben, Achimelek, du und dein ganzes väterliches Haus."
17Und der König sprach zu den Läufern, die ihn umstanden: "Tretet her und tötet die Priester des Herrn! Denn auch sie halten es mit David. Sie haben gewußt, daß er auf der Flucht war, und haben mir nichts angezeigt." Aber die Diener des Königs weigerten sich, Hand anzulegen und des Herrn Priester niederzustoßen.
18Da sprach der König zu Doëg: "Tritt du her und stoße die Priester nieder!" Da trat der Edomiter Doëg hinzu. Und dieser stieß die Priester nieder. Er tötete an jenem Tage 85 Männer, die das linnene Ephod trugen.
19Auch die Priesterstadt Nob schlug er mit des Schwertes Schärfe, Männer und Weiber, Knaben und Säuglinge, ebenso Rinder, Esel und Schafe mit des Schwertes Schärfe.
20Nur ein Sohn des Achitubsohnes Achimelek, namens Ebjatar, entkam. Er floh zu David.
21Und Ebjatar meldete David. "Saul hat die Priester des Herrn ermordet."
22Da sprach David zu Ebjatar: "Ich habe es damals geahnt, weil der Edomiter Doëg dort war, daß er es Saul verriete. Ich räche jede Seele in deines Vaters Haus.
23Bleib bei mir! Hab keine Furcht! Denn der sucht wahrlich mein Leben, der das deine sucht. Denn du bist mir ein Ehrenpfand."

1Y YÉNDOSE David de allí escapóse á la cueva de Adullam; lo cual como oyeron sus hermanos y toda la casa de su padre, vinieron allí á él.
2Y juntáronse con él todos los afligidos, y todo el que estaba adeudado, y todos los que se hallaban en amargura de espíritu, y fué hecho capitán de ellos: y tuvo consigo como cuatrocientos hombres.
3Y fuése David de allí á Mizpa de Moab, y dijo al rey de Moab: Yo te ruego que mi padre y mi madre estén con vosotros, hasta que sepa lo que Dios hará de mí.
4Trájolos pues á la presencia del rey de Moab, y habitaron con él todo el tiempo que David estuvo en la fortaleza.
5Y Gad profeta dijo á David: No te estés en esta fortaleza, pártete, y vete á tierra de Judá. Y David se partió, y vino al bosque de Hareth.
6Y oyó Saúl como había parecido David, y los que estaban con él. Estaba entonces Saúl en Gabaa debajo de un árbol en Rama, y tenía su lanza en su mano, y todos sus criados estaban en derredor de él.
7Y dijo Saúl á sus criados que estaban en derredor de él: Oid ahora, hijos de Benjamín: ¿Os dará también á todos vosotros el hijo de Isaí tierras y viñas, y os hará á todos tribunos y centuriones;
8Que todos vosotros habéis conspirado contra mí, y no hay quien me descubra al oído como mi hijo ha hecho alianza con el hijo de Isaí, ni alguno de vosotros que se duela de mí, y me descubra como mi hijo ha levantado á mi siervo contra mí, para que me aceche, según hace hoy día?
9Entonces Doeg Idumeo, que era superior entre los siervos de Saúl, respondió y dijo: Yo vi al hijo de Isaí que vino á Nob, á Ahimelech hijo de Ahitob;
10El cual consultó por él á Jehová, y dióle provisión, y también le dió la espada de Goliath el Filisteo.
11Y el rey envió por el sacerdote Ahimelech hijo de Ahitob, y por toda la casa de su padre, los sacerdotes que estaban en Nob: y todos vinieron al rey.
12Y Saúl le dijo: Oye ahora, hijo de Ahitob. Y él dijo: Heme aquí, señor mío.
13Y díjole Saúl: ¿Por qué habéis conspirado contra mí, tú y el hijo de Isaí, cuando tú le diste pan y espada, y consultaste por él á Dios, para que se levantase contra mí y me acechase, como lo hace hoy día?
14Entonces Ahimelech respondió al rey, y dijo: ¿Y quién entre todos tus siervos es tan fiel como David, yerno además del rey, y que va por tu mandado, y es ilustre en tu casa?
15¿He comenzado yo desde hoy á consultar por él á Dios? lejos sea de mí: no impute el rey cosa alguna á su siervo, ni á toda la casa de mi padre; porque tu siervo ninguna cosa sabe de este negocio, grande ni chica.
16Y el rey dijo: Sin duda morirás, Ahimelech, tú y toda la casa de tu padre.
17Entonces dijo el rey á la gente de su guardia que estaba alrededor de él: Cercad y matad á los sacerdotes de Jehová; porque también la mano de ellos es con David, pues sabiendo ellos que huía, no me lo descubrieron. Mas los siervos del rey no quisieron extender sus manos para matar á los sacerdotes de Jehová.
18Entonces dijo el rey á Doeg: Vuelve tú, y arremete contra los sacerdotes. Y revolviéndose Doeg Idumeo, arremetió contra los sacerdotes, y mató en aquel día ochenta y cinco varones que vestían ephod de lino.
19Y á Nob, ciudad de los sacerdotes, puso á cuchillo: así á hombres como á mujeres, niños y mamantes, bueyes y asnos y ovejas, todo á cuchillo.
20Mas uno de los hijos de Ahimelech hijo de Ahitob, que se llamaba Abiathar, escapó, y huyóse á David.
21Y Abiathar notició á David como Saúl había muerto los sacerdotes de Jehová.
22Y dijo David á Abiathar: Yo sabía que estando allí aquel día Doeg el Idumeo, él lo había de hacer saber á Saúl. Yo he dado ocasión contra todas las personas de la casa de tu padre.
23Quédate conmigo, no temas: quien buscare mi vida, buscará también la tuya: bien que tú estarás conmigo guardado.

1David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him.
2And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
3And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.
4And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.
5And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.
6When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;)
7Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;
8That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
9Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
10And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.
11Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.
12And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.
13And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
14Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king’s son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?
15Did I then begin to enquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.
16And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father’s house.
17And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
18And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.
19And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
20And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.
21And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the LORD’s priests.
22And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father’s house.
23Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

1David therefore departed from there and escaped to Adullam’s cave. When his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him.

3David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and my mother come out to you, until I know what God will do for me.”
4He brought them before the king of Moab; and they lived with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.
5The prophet Gad said to David, “Don’t stay in the stronghold. Depart, and go into the land of Judah.” Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hereth.
6Saul heard that David was discovered, with the men who were with him. Now Saul was sitting in Gibeah, under the tamarisk tree in Ramah, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing around him.
7Saul said to his servants who stood around him, “Hear now, you Benjamites! Will the son of Jesse give everyone of you fields and vineyards? Will he make you all captains of thousands and captains of hundreds?
8Is that why all of you have conspired against me, and there is no one who discloses to me when my son makes a treaty with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you who is sorry for me, or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as it is today?”
9Then Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul, answered and said, “I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
10He inquired of the LORD for him, gave him food, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”
11Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests who were in Nob; and they all came to the king.
12Saul said, “Hear now, you son of Ahitub.” He answered, “Here I am, my lord.”
13Saul said to him, “Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread, and a sword, and have inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as it is today?”
14Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, “Who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, captain of your body guard, and honored in your house?
15Have I today begun to inquire of God for him? Be it far from me! Don’t let the king impute anything to his servant, nor to all the house of my father; for your servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.”
16The king said, “You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father’s house.”
17The king said to the guard who stood about him, “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because their hand also is with David, and because they knew that he fled and didn’t disclose it to me.” But the servants of the king wouldn’t put out their hand to fall on the priests of the LORD.
18The king said to Doeg, “Turn and attack the priests!” Doeg the Edomite turned, and he attacked the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five people who wore a linen ephod.
19He struck Nob, the city of the priests, with the edge of the sword—both men and women, children and nursing babies, and cattle, donkeys, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
20One of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.
21Abiathar told David that Saul had slain the LORD’s priests.
22David said to Abiathar, “I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I am responsible for the death of all the persons of your father’s house.
23Stay with me. Don’t be afraid, for he who seeks my life seeks your life. You will be safe with me.”
