34Durante o reinado de Acabe, Hiel, o betelita, reconstruiu Jericó. Hiel lançou os alicerces da cidade ao custo da vida de Abirão, seu primogênito; e Segube, seu filho mais jovem, perdeu sua vida enquanto Hiel estava construindo os portões da cidade, de acordo com a palavra de Yahweh, pela qual Ele falou através de Josué, filho de Num.

34In his days did Hiel the Beth-elite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.
