1Im achtzehnten Regierungsjahre Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, wurde Abia König über Juda.
2Er regierte drei Jahre in Jerusalem; seine Mutter hieß Maacha und war eine Enkeltochter Absaloms.
3Abia wandelte in allen Sünden seines Vaters, die dieser vor ihm begangen hatte, und sein Herz war dem HERRN, seinem Gott, nicht ungeteilt ergeben wie das Herz seines Ahnherrn David.
4Doch um Davids willen hatte der HERR, sein Gott, ihm eine Leuchte in Jerusalem scheinen lassen, indem er seinen Sohn nach ihm (auf den Thron) erhob und Jerusalem bestehen ließ,
5weil David getan hatte, was dem HERRN wohlgefiel, und während seines ganzen Lebens von allem, was er ihm geboten, nicht abgewichen war, abgesehen von dem Vorkommnis mit dem Hethiter Uria.
6Es bestand aber Krieg zwischen Abia und Jerobeam, solange er lebte.
7Die übrige Geschichte Abias aber und alles, was er unternommen hat, findet sich bekanntlich aufgezeichnet in dem Buche der Denkwürdigkeiten der Könige von Juda. Es bestand aber Krieg zwischen Abia und Jerobeam.
8Als Abia sich dann zu seinen Vätern gelegt und man ihn in der Davidsstadt begraben hatte, folgte ihm sein Sohn Asa in der Regierung nach.
9Im zwanzigsten Jahre der Regierung Jerobeams, des Königs von Israel, wurde Asa König über Juda
10und regierte 41 Jahre zu Jerusalem; seine Mutter hieß Maacha und war eine Tochter Absaloms.
11Asa tat, was dem HERRN wohlgefiel, wie sein Ahnherr David.
12So jagte er denn die Heiligtumsbuhler aus dem Lande und entfernte alle Götzenbilder, die seine Vorfahren hatten anfertigen lassen.
13Sogar seiner Mutter Maacha entzog er den Rang der Königin-Mutter, weil sie der Aschera ein Schandmal hatte anfertigen lassen; Asa ließ ihr Schandmal umhauen und im Kidrontal verbrennen.
14Der Höhendienst wurde allerdings nicht abgeschafft, doch war das Herz Asas dem HERRN zeitlebens ungeteilt ergeben.
15Er ließ auch die Geschenke, die sein Vater und die er selbst geweiht hatte, in den Tempel des HERRN bringen, Silber, Gold und Geräte.
16Es bestand aber zwischen Asa und dem König Baesa von Israel Krieg, solange sie lebten.
17Dabei zog Baesa, der König von Israel, gegen Juda hinauf und befestigte Rama, damit niemand mehr bei Asa, dem König von Juda, ungehindert aus- und eingehen könne.
18Da nahm Asa alles Silber und Gold, das noch in den Schatzkammern des Tempels des HERRN vorhanden war, und die Schätze des königlichen Palastes, übergab sie seinen Dienern und sandte sie an Benhadad, den Sohn Tabrimmons, den Enkel Hesjons, den König von Syrien, der in Damaskus seinen Sitz hatte, und ließ ihm sagen:
19»Ein Bündnis besteht zwischen mir und dir, zwischen meinem Vater und deinem Vater. Hier übersende ich dir ein Geschenk an Silber und Gold. So löse denn dein Bündnis mit dem König Baesa von Israel, damit er aus meinem Lande abziehe!«
20Benhadad schenkte der Aufforderung des Königs Asa Gehör, ließ seine Heerführer gegen die Städte Israels ziehen und eroberte Ijjon, Dan, Abel-Beth-Maacha und ganz Kinneroth nebst der ganzen Landschaft Naphthali.
21Sobald nun Baesa Kunde davon erhielt, gab er die Befestigung Ramas auf und kehrte nach Thirza zurück.
22Nun bot der König Asa ganz Juda auf bis auf den letzten Mann; die mußten die Steine und Balken wegschaffen, mit denen Baesa Rama hatte befestigen wollen; und der König Asa ließ damit Geba im Stamme Benjamin und Mizpa befestigen.
23Die ganze übrige Geschichte Asas aber und alle seine tapferen Taten und alles, was er unternommen hat, sowie seine Festungsbauten, das findet sich bekanntlich aufgezeichnet im Buche der Denkwürdigkeiten der Könige von Juda. Doch hatte er in seinem Alter an einer Fußkrankheit zu leiden.
24Als Asa sich dann zu seinen Vätern gelegt und man ihn bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids, seines Ahnherrn, begraben hatte, folgte ihm sein Sohn Josaphat in der Regierung nach.
25Nadab aber, der Sohn Jerobeams, wurde König über Israel im zweiten Jahre der Regierung Asas, des Königs von Juda, und regierte zwei Jahre über Israel.
26Er tat, was dem HERRN mißfiel, und wandelte auf dem Wege seines Vaters und in dessen Sünde, zu der er Israel verführt hatte.
27Aber Baesa, der Sohn Ahias, aus dem Hause Issaschar, zettelte eine Verschwörung gegen ihn an und ermordete ihn bei der Philisterstadt Gibbethon, während Nadab und ganz Israel Gibbethon gerade belagerten.
28Baesa brachte ihn also im dritten Regierungsjahre Asas, des Königs von Juda, ums Leben und wurde König an seiner Statt.
29Sobald er nun die Herrschaft erlangt hatte, rottete er das ganze Haus Jerobeams aus: er ließ von den Angehörigen Jerobeams keine lebende Seele übrig, bis er sie vertilgt hatte, wie der HERR es durch den Mund seines Knechtes Ahia von Silo hatte ankündigen lassen,
30zur Strafe für die Sünden, die Jerobeam selbst verübt und zu denen er die Israeliten verführt hatte, indem er den HERRN, den Gott Israels, zum Zorn reizte.
31Die übrige Geschichte Nadabs aber und alles, was er unternommen hat, findet sich bekanntlich aufgezeichnet im Buche der Denkwürdigkeiten der Könige von Israel.

1EN el año dieciocho del rey Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, Abiam comenzó á reinar sobre Judá.
2Reinó tres años en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fué Maachâ, hija de Abisalom.
3Y anduvo en todos los pecados de su padre, que había éste hecho antes de él; y no fué su corazón perfecto con Jehová su Dios, como el corazón de David su padre.
4Mas por amor de David, dióle Jehová su Dios lámpara en Jerusalem, levantándole á su hijo después de él, y sosteniendo á Jerusalem:
5Por cuanto David había hecho lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, y de ninguna cosa que le mandase se había apartado en todos los días de su vida, excepto el negocio de Uría Hetheo.
6Y hubo guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam todos los días de su vida.
7Lo demás de los hechos de Abiam, y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no están escritas en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá? Y hubo guerra entre Abiam y Jeroboam.
8Y durmió Abiam con sus padres, y sepultáronlo en la ciudad de David: y reinó Asa su hijo en su lugar.
9En el año veinte de Jeroboam rey de Israel, Asa comenzó á reinar sobre Judá.
10Y reinó cuarenta y un años en Jerusalem; el nombre de su madre fué Maachâ, hija de Abisalom.
11Y Asa hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, como David su padre.
12Porque quitó los sodomitas de la tierra, y quitó todas las suciedades que sus padres habían hecho.
13Y también privó á su madre Maachâ de ser princesa, porque había hecho un ídolo en un bosque. Además deshizo Asa el ídolo de su madre, y quemólo junto al torrente de Cedrón.
14Empero los altos no se quitaron: con todo, el corazón de Asa fué perfecto para con Jehová toda su vida.
15También metió en la casa de Jehová lo que su padre había dedicado, y lo que él dedicó: oro, y plata, y vasos.
16Y hubo guerra entre Asa y Baasa rey de Israel, todo el tiempo de ambos.
17Y subió Baasa rey de Israel contra Judá, y edificó á Rama, para no dejar salir ni entrar á ninguno de Asa, rey de Judá.
18Entonces tomando Asa toda la plata y oro que había quedado en los tesoros de la casa de Jehová, y los tesoros de la casa real, entrególos en las manos de sus siervos, y enviólos el rey Asa á Ben-adad, hijo de Tabrimón, hijo de Hezión, rey de Siria, el cual residía en Damasco, diciendo:
19Alianza hay entre mí y ti, y entre mi padre y el tuyo: he aquí yo te envío un presente de plata y oro: ve, y rompe tu alianza con Baasa rey de Israel, para que me deje.
20Y Ben-adad consintió con el rey Asa, y envió los príncipes de los ejércitos que tenía contra las ciudades de Israel, é hirió á Ahión, y á Dan, y á Abel-beth-maachâ, y á toda Cinneroth, con toda la tierra de Nephtalí.
21Y oyendo esto Baasa, dejó de edificar á Rama, y estúvose en Thirsa.
22Entonces el rey Asa convocó á todo Judá, sin exceptuar ninguno; y quitaron de Rama la piedra y la madera con que Baasa edificaba, y edificó el rey Asa con ello á Gabaa de Benjamín, y á Mizpa.
23Lo demás de todos los hechos de Asa, y toda su fortaleza, y todas las cosas que hizo, y las ciudades que edificó, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá? Mas en el tiempo de su vejez enfermó de sus pies.
24Y durmió Asa con sus padres, y fué sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David su padre: y reinó en su lugar Josaphat su hijo.
25Y Nadab, hijo de Jeroboam, comenzó á reinar sobre Israel en el segundo año de Asa rey de Judá; y reinó sobre Israel dos años.
26E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, andando en el camino de su padre, y en sus pecados con que hizo pecar á Israel.
27Y Baasa hijo de Ahía, el cual era de la casa de Issachâr, hizo conspiración contra él: é hiriólo Baasa en Gibbethón, que era de los Filisteos: porque Nadab y todo Israel tenían cercado á Gibbethón.
28Matólo pues Baasa en el tercer año de Asa rey de Judá, y reinó en lugar suyo.
29Y como él vino al reino, hirió toda la casa de Jeroboam, sin dejar alma viviente de los de Jeroboam, hasta raerlo, conforme á la palabra de Jehová que él habló por su siervo Ahías Silonita;
30Por los pecados de Jeroboam que él había cometido, y con los cuales hizo pecar á Israel; y por su provocación con que provocó á enojo á Jehová Dios de Israel.

1Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah.
2Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.
3And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.
4Nevertheless for David’s sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:
5Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
6And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.
7Now the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.
8And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.
9And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over Judah.
10And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.
11And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father.
12And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
13And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.
14But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa’s heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.
15And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which himself had dedicated, into the house of the LORD, silver, and gold, and vessels.
16And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.
17And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
18Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
19There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
20So Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of the hosts which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maachah, and all Cinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.
21And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.
22Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none was exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.
23The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.
24And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.
25And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.
