1Abías, el hijo de Jeroboán, estaba muy enfermo.
2Jeroboán le dijo a su esposa: «Disfrázate de manera que nadie pueda reconocer que eres la reina, y anda a consultar a Ahías, el profeta de Siló, el hombre que me dijo que yo sería rey.
3Llévale un regalo de diez panes, algunas tortas de higo, un cántaro de miel, y pregúntale si el niño vivirá».
4Así que la esposa de Jeroboán fue a casa de Ahías, en Siló. Como el profeta era muy anciano, ya no podía ver.
5Pero el Señor le dijo que la reina, pretendiendo pasar por otra persona, vendría a preguntarle acerca de su hijo, que estaba muy enfermo. Y el Señor le comunicó el mensaje que debía darle.
6Cuando Ahías oyó que alguien llamaba a la puerta, gritó: «Pasa, esposa de Jeroboán. ¿Por qué pretendes pasar por otra persona? Tengo tristes noticias para ti.
7Dale a tu esposo este mensaje de parte del Señor, Dios de Israel: “Tú eras un miembro común del pueblo y te elegí para hacerte rey de Israel.
8Le quité el reino a la familia de David y te lo entregué, pero tú no has obedecido mis mandamientos, de la manera que David lo hizo. El deseo de su corazón siempre era obedecerme y hacer lo que yo quería que él hiciera.
9Pero tú solo has hecho más mal que todos los otros reyes que te han precedido; has fabricado ídolos de otros dioses. Lo que has conseguido con tus becerros de oro es que mi ira suba de punto. Y puesto que te has negado a reconocerme,
10yo traeré el desastre sobre tu casa y acabaré con todos los varones de tu familia, tanto esclavos como libres. Barreré a tu familia, de la misma forma en que de un establo se barre el estiércol, sin que quede rastro alguno.
11Prometo que los de tu familia que mueran en la ciudad serán comidos por los perros, y los que mueran en los campos serán comidos por los buitres. Te lo digo yo, el Señor”».
12Entonces Ahías le dijo a la esposa de Jeroboán: «Vete a casa. Cuando entres en la ciudad morirá tu hijo.
13Todo Israel lo llorará y lo sepultarán, pero es el único miembro de la familia de Jeroboán que será sepultado, ya que él es el único de la familia que tendrá un final tranquilo.
14»Y el Señor levantará un rey en Israel que destruirá a la familia de Jeroboán. ¡Y será muy pronto!
15Entonces el Señor sacudirá a Israel de la manera que una caña es sacudida por el agua en el arroyo; desarraigará al pueblo de Israel de esta buena tierra de sus padres, y esparcirá a sus habitantes más allá del río Éufrates, porque ellos, por adorar ídolos, han hecho enojar al Señor.
16Él abandonará a Israel, porque Jeroboán pecó contra él, e hizo pecar a todo Israel juntamente con él».
17Entonces la esposa de Jeroboán regresó a Tirsá. Tan pronto ella entró a su casa, el niño murió.
18Y hubo llanto por él a través de toda la tierra, tal como el Señor lo había anunciado por medio del profeta Ahías.
19El resto de las actividades de Jeroboán, sus guerras y los demás sucesos de su reinado, están anotados en el libro de los reyes de Israel.
20Jeroboán reinó veintidós años, y cuando murió, su hijo Nadab subió al trono.
21Mientras tanto, Roboán hijo de Salomón reinaba en Judá. Tenía cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y estuvo en el trono diecisiete años en Jerusalén, ciudad que entre todas las ciudades de Israel el Señor había escogido para habitar en ella. (La madre de Roboán era Noamá, una mujer amonita).
22Durante su reinado, el pueblo de Judá, como el de Israel, hizo lo malo. Su maldad fue peor que la de sus antepasados, razón por la cual el Señor se enojó con ellos.
23El pueblo edificó santuarios, altares e ídolos en toda colina y bajo todo árbol frondoso.
24A través de todo el país los hombres practicaban la prostitución como si fuera un acto de adoración, de modo que el pueblo de Judá llegó a ser tan depravado como aquellas naciones que el Señor había expulsado del territorio que ahora le pertenecía a Israel.
25En el quinto año del reinado de Roboán, el rey Sisac, de Egipto, atacó y conquistó Jerusalén.
26Saqueó el templo del Señor y los tesoros de la casa real, y se llevó todo, incluyendo los escudos de oro que Salomón había hecho.
27Para reemplazarlos, Roboán hizo escudos de bronce, y los puso bajo la custodia de los guardias que cuidaban las puertas.
28Cuando el rey iba al templo del Señor, los guardias los portaban y luego los guardaban en la sala de la guardia.
29Los demás sucesos del reinado de Roboán están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá.
30Hubo guerra permanente entre Roboán y Jeroboán.
31Cuando Roboán, el hijo de la amonita Noamá, murió, fue sepultado entre sus antepasados, en la Ciudad de David, y en su lugar reinó su hijo Abías.

1EN aquel tiempo Abías hijo de Jeroboam cayó enfermo.
2Y dijo Jeroboam á su mujer: Levántate ahora, disfrázate, porque no te conozcan que eres la mujer de Jeroboam, y ve á Silo; que allá está Ahías profeta, el que me dijo que yo había de ser rey sobre este pueblo.
3Y toma en tu mano diez panes, y turrones, y una botija de miel, y ve á él; que te declare lo que ha de ser de este mozo.
4Y la mujer de Jeroboam hízolo así; y levantóse, y fué á Silo, y vino á casa de Ahías. Y no podía ya ver Ahías, que sus ojos se habían oscurecido á causa de su vejez.
5Mas Jehová había dicho á Ahías: He aquí que la mujer de Jeroboam vendrá á consultarte por su hijo, que está enfermo: así y así le has de responder; pues será que cuando ella viniere, vendrá disimulada.
6Y como Ahías oyó el sonido de sus pies cuando entraba por la puerta, dijo: Entra, mujer de Jeroboam; ¿por qué te finges otra? empero yo soy enviado á ti con revelación dura.
7Ve, y di á Jeroboam: Así dijo Jehová Dios de Israel: Por cuanto yo te levanté de en medio del pueblo, y te hice príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel,
8Y rompí el reino de la casa de David, y te lo entregué á ti; y tú no has sido como David mi siervo, que guardó mis mandamientos y anduvo en pos de mí con todo su corazón, haciendo solamente lo derecho delante de mis ojos;
9Antes hiciste lo malo sobre todos los que han sido antes de ti: que fuiste y te hiciste dioses ajenos y de fundición para enojarme, y á mí me echaste tras tus espaldas:
10Por tanto, he aquí que yo traigo mal sobre la casa de Jeroboam, y yo talaré de Jeroboam todo meante á la pared, así el guardado como el desamparado en Israel; y barreré la posteridad de la casa de Jeroboam, como es barrido el estiércol, hasta que sea acabada.
11El que muriere de los de Jeroboam en la ciudad, le comerán los perros; y el que muriere en el campo, comerlo han las aves del cielo; porque Jehová lo ha dicho.
12Y tú levántate, y vete á tu casa; que en entrando tu pie en la ciudad, morirá el mozo.
13Y todo Israel lo endechará, y le enterrarán; porque sólo él de los de Jeroboam entrará en sepultura; por cuanto se ha hallado en él alguna cosa buena de Jehová Dios de Israel, en la casa de Jeroboam.
14Y Jehová se levantará un rey sobre Israel, el cual talará la casa de Jeroboam en este día; ¿y qué, si ahora?
15Y Jehová sacudirá á Israel, al modo que la caña se agita en las aguas: y él arrancará á Israel de esta buena tierra que había dado á sus padres, y esparcirálos de la otra parte del río, por cuanto han hecho sus bosques, enojando á Jehová.
16Y él entregará á Israel por los pecados de Jeroboam, el cual pecó, y ha hecho pecar á Israel.
17Entonces la mujer de Jeroboam se levantó, y se fué, y vino á Thirsa: y entrando ella por el umbral de la casa, el mozo murió.
18Y enterráronlo, y endechólo todo Israel, conforme á la palabra de Jehová, que él había hablado por mano de su siervo Ahías profeta.
19Los otros hechos de Jeroboam, qué guerras hizo, y cómo reinó, todo está escrito en el libro de las historias de los reyes de Israel.
20El tiempo que reinó Jeroboam fueron veintidós años; y habiendo dormido con sus padres, reinó en su lugar Nadab su hijo.
21Y Roboam hijo de Salomón reinó en Judá. De cuarenta y un años era Roboam cuando comenzó á reinar, y diecisiete años reinó en Jerusalem, ciudad que Jehová eligió de todas las tribus de Israel, para poner allí su nombre. El nombre de su madre fué Naama, Ammonita.
22Y Judá hizo lo malo en los ojos de Jehová, y enojáronle más que todo lo que sus padres habían hecho en sus pecados que cometieron.
23Porque ellos también se edificaron altos, estatuas, y bosques, en todo collado alto, y debajo de todo árbol frondoso:
24Y hubo también sodomitas en la tierra, é hicieron conforme á todas las abominaciones de las gentes que Jehová había echado delante de los hijos de Israel.
25Al quinto año del rey Roboam subió Sisac rey de Egipto contra Jerusalem.
26Y tomó los tesoros de la casa de Jehová, y los tesoros de la casa real, y saqueólo todo: llevóse también todos los escudos de oro que Salomón había hecho.
27Y en lugar de ellos hizo el rey Roboam escudos de metal, y diólos en manos de los capitanes de los de la guardia, quienes custodiaban la puerta de la casa real.
28Y cuando el rey entraba en la casa de Jehová, los de la guardia los llevaban; y poníanlos después en la cámara de los de la guardia.
29Lo demás de los hechos de Roboam, y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no están escritas en las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
30Y hubo guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam todos los días.
31Y durmió Roboam con sus padres, y fué sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David. El nombre de su madre fué Naama, Ammonita. Y reinó en su lugar Abiam su hijo.

1At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.
2And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.
3And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.
4And Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.
5And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman.
6And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.
7Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel,
8And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes;
9But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:
10Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.
11Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat: for the LORD hath spoken it.
12Arise thou therefore, get thee to thine own house: and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.
13And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him: for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.
14Moreover the LORD shall raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day: but what? even now.
15For the LORD shall smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.
16And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who did sin, and who made Israel to sin.
17And Jeroboam’s wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: and when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died;
18And they buried him; and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by the hand of his servant Ahijah the prophet.
19And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
20And the days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead.
21And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess.
22And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.
23For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.
24And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
25And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem:
26And he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
27And king Rehoboam made in their stead brasen shields, and committed them unto the hands of the chief of the guard, which kept the door of the king’s house.
28And it was so, when the king went into the house of the LORD, that the guard bare them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.
29Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
30And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days.
31And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.

1At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick.
2Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please get up and disguise yourself, so that you won’t be recognized as Jeroboam’s wife. Go to Shiloh. Behold, Ahijah the prophet is there, who said that I would be king over this people.
3Take with you ten loaves of bread, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will become of the child.”
4Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to Ahijah’s house. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.
5The LORD said to Ahijah, “Behold, Jeroboam’s wife is coming to inquire of you concerning her son, for he is sick. Tell her such and such; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”
6So when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, he said, “Come in, Jeroboam’s wife! Why do you pretend to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy news.
7Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘The LORD, the God of Israel, says: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,
8and tore the kingdom away from David’s house, and gave it to you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes,
9but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made for yourself other gods, molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back,
10therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall, he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung until it is all gone.
11The dogs will eat whoever belongs to Jeroboam who dies in the city; and the birds of the sky will eat whoever dies in the field, for the LORD has spoken it.”’
12Arise therefore, and go to your house. When your feet enter into the city, the child will die.
13All Israel will mourn for him and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam will come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.
14Moreover the LORD will raise up a king for himself over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is the day! What? Even now.
