1Zu jener Zeit wurde Abia, der Sohn Jerobeams, krank.
2Da sagte Jerobeam zu seiner Gemahlin: »Mache dich auf, verkleide dich, damit man die Gemahlin Jerobeams in dir nicht erkenne, und begib dich nach Silo. Dort wohnt nämlich der Prophet Ahia, derselbe, der mir einst angekündigt hat, daß ich König über dieses Volk werden würde.
3Nimm zehn Brote und Kuchen und einen Krug Honig mit und gehe zu ihm: er wird dir verkünden, wie es mit dem Knaben gehen wird.«
4Da tat die Gemahlin Jerobeams so; sie machte sich auf den Weg nach Silo und kam in das Haus Ahias. Ahia aber konnte nicht mehr sehen, denn seine Augen waren infolge seines hohen Alters erblindet.
5Der HERR aber hatte zu Ahia gesagt: »Soeben kommt die Gemahlin Jerobeams, um von dir Auskunft über ihren Sohn zu erhalten, denn er ist krank. So und so sollst du zu ihr sagen.« Als sie nun in ihrer Verkleidung eintrat
6und Ahia, während sie zur Tür hereintrat, das Geräusch ihrer Schritte vernahm, rief er ihr zu: »Komm herein, Gattin Jerobeams! Warum doch verstellst du dich so? Mir ist eine harte Botschaft an dich aufgetragen.
7Gehe heim und sage zu Jerobeam: So hat der HERR, der Gott Israels, gesprochen: ›Ich habe dich mitten aus dem Volk emporgehoben und dich zum Fürsten über mein Volk Israel bestellt;
8ich habe das Königtum dem Hause Davids entrissen und es dir gegeben; du aber bist nicht gewesen wie mein Knecht David, der meine Gebote beobachtet hat und mir von ganzem Herzen gehorsam gewesen ist, so daß er nur das tat, was mir wohlgefiel;
9nein, du hast mehr Böses getan als alle deine Vorgänger; denn du bist hingegangen und hast dir andere Götter gemacht, nämlich Gußbilder, um mich zum Zorn zu reizen, mich aber hast du hinter deinen Rücken geworfen.
10Darum will ich nunmehr Unglück über das Haus Jerobeams kommen lassen und von den Angehörigen Jerobeams alles ausrotten, was männlichen Geschlechts ist, Unmündige und Mündige in Israel, und will das Haus Jerobeams wegfegen, wie man Unrat wegfegt, bis nichts mehr von ihm übrig ist.
11Wer von Jerobeams Angehörigen in der Stadt stirbt, den sollen die Hunde fressen, und wer auf dem freien Felde stirbt, den sollen die Vögel des Himmels fressen; denn der HERR hat gesprochen!
12Du aber mache dich auf und kehre heim: sowie deine Füße die Stadt betreten, wird der Knabe sterben.
13Ganz Israel wird dann um ihn klagen, und man wird ihn begraben; denn von den Angehörigen Jerobeams wird dieser allein in ein Grab kommen, weil sich an ihm noch etwas Gutes vor dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, im Hause Jerobeams gefunden hat.
14Der HERR aber wird sich einen König über Israel erstehen lassen, der das Haus Jerobeams ausrotten soll an jenem Tage; und was geschieht schon jetzt?
15Und der HERR wird Israel schlagen, daß es schwankt, wie das Schilfrohr im Wasser schwankt; er wird Israel aus diesem schönen Lande verstoßen, das er ihren Vätern gegeben hat, und wird sie zerstreuen jenseits des Euphratstroms zur Strafe dafür, daß sie sich Götzenbilder angefertigt und den HERRN dadurch erzürnt haben.
16Ja, er wird Israel dahingeben um der Sünden Jerobeams willen, die er selbst begangen und zu denen er Israel verführt hat!«
17Da machte sich die Gemahlin Jerobeams auf den Weg und kehrte nach Thirza zurück; kaum hatte sie dort die Schwelle des Königshauses betreten, als der Knabe starb.
18Man begrub ihn, und ganz Israel hielt ihm die Totenklage, wie der HERR es durch seinen Knecht, den Propheten Ahia, hatte ankündigen lassen.
19Die übrige Geschichte Jerobeams aber, wie er Kriege geführt und wie er regiert hat, das findet sich bekanntlich bereits aufgezeichnet im Buch der Denkwürdigkeiten der Könige von Israel.
20Die Dauer der Regierung Jerobeams betrug zweiundzwanzig Jahre; dann legte er sich zu seinen Vätern, und sein Sohn Nadab folgte ihm in der Regierung nach.
21Rehabeam aber, der Sohn Salomos, war König über Juda; 41 Jahre war Rehabeam alt, als er König wurde, und 17 Jahre regierte er in Jerusalem, der Stadt, die der HERR aus allen Stämmen Israels erwählt hatte, um seinen Namen dort wohnen zu lassen. Seine Mutter hieß Naama und war eine Ammonitin.
22Juda tat aber, was dem HERRN mißfiel, und sie reizten ihn durch die Sünden, die sie begingen, in noch höherem Grade zum Eifer, als er erregt worden war durch alles, was ihre Väter getan hatten;
23denn auch sie errichteten sich Höhentempel, Malsteine und Götzenbilder auf jedem hohen Hügel und unter jedem dichtbelaubten Baume;
24ja, auch Heiligtumsbuhler gab es im Lande, (kurz) sie taten es allen Greueln der Heidenvölker gleich, die der HERR vor den Israeliten vertrieben hatte.
25Aber im fünften Regierungsjahre Rehabeams zog Sisak, der König von Ägypten, gegen Jerusalem heran
26und raubte die Schätze des Tempels des HERRN und die Schätze des königlichen Palastes, überhaupt alles raubte er; auch die goldenen Schilde nahm er weg, die Salomo hatte anfertigen lassen.
27An deren Stelle ließ der König Rehabeam eherne Schilde herstellen und übergab sie der Obhut der Befehlshaber seiner Leibwache, die am Eingang zum königlichen Palast die Wache hatte.
28Sooft sich nun der König in den Tempel des HERRN begab, mußten die Leibwächter die Schilde tragen und brachten sie dann wieder in das Wachtzimmer der Leibwache zurück.
29Die übrige Geschichte Rehabeams aber und alles, was er unternommen hat, findet sich bekanntlich aufgezeichnet im Buche der Denkwürdigkeiten der Könige von Juda.
30Es bestand aber Krieg zwischen Rehabeam und Jerobeam, solange sie lebten.
31Rehabeam legte sich dann zu seinen Vätern und wurde bei seinen Vätern in der Davidsstadt begraben seine Mutter hieß Naama und war eine Ammonitin; und sein Sohn Abia folgte ihm in der Regierung nach.

1EN aquel tiempo Abías hijo de Jeroboam cayó enfermo.
2Y dijo Jeroboam á su mujer: Levántate ahora, disfrázate, porque no te conozcan que eres la mujer de Jeroboam, y ve á Silo; que allá está Ahías profeta, el que me dijo que yo había de ser rey sobre este pueblo.
3Y toma en tu mano diez panes, y turrones, y una botija de miel, y ve á él; que te declare lo que ha de ser de este mozo.
4Y la mujer de Jeroboam hízolo así; y levantóse, y fué á Silo, y vino á casa de Ahías. Y no podía ya ver Ahías, que sus ojos se habían oscurecido á causa de su vejez.
5Mas Jehová había dicho á Ahías: He aquí que la mujer de Jeroboam vendrá á consultarte por su hijo, que está enfermo: así y así le has de responder; pues será que cuando ella viniere, vendrá disimulada.
6Y como Ahías oyó el sonido de sus pies cuando entraba por la puerta, dijo: Entra, mujer de Jeroboam; ¿por qué te finges otra? empero yo soy enviado á ti con revelación dura.
7Ve, y di á Jeroboam: Así dijo Jehová Dios de Israel: Por cuanto yo te levanté de en medio del pueblo, y te hice príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel,
8Y rompí el reino de la casa de David, y te lo entregué á ti; y tú no has sido como David mi siervo, que guardó mis mandamientos y anduvo en pos de mí con todo su corazón, haciendo solamente lo derecho delante de mis ojos;
9Antes hiciste lo malo sobre todos los que han sido antes de ti: que fuiste y te hiciste dioses ajenos y de fundición para enojarme, y á mí me echaste tras tus espaldas:
10Por tanto, he aquí que yo traigo mal sobre la casa de Jeroboam, y yo talaré de Jeroboam todo meante á la pared, así el guardado como el desamparado en Israel; y barreré la posteridad de la casa de Jeroboam, como es barrido el estiércol, hasta que sea acabada.
11El que muriere de los de Jeroboam en la ciudad, le comerán los perros; y el que muriere en el campo, comerlo han las aves del cielo; porque Jehová lo ha dicho.
12Y tú levántate, y vete á tu casa; que en entrando tu pie en la ciudad, morirá el mozo.
13Y todo Israel lo endechará, y le enterrarán; porque sólo él de los de Jeroboam entrará en sepultura; por cuanto se ha hallado en él alguna cosa buena de Jehová Dios de Israel, en la casa de Jeroboam.
14Y Jehová se levantará un rey sobre Israel, el cual talará la casa de Jeroboam en este día; ¿y qué, si ahora?
15Y Jehová sacudirá á Israel, al modo que la caña se agita en las aguas: y él arrancará á Israel de esta buena tierra que había dado á sus padres, y esparcirálos de la otra parte del río, por cuanto han hecho sus bosques, enojando á Jehová.
16Y él entregará á Israel por los pecados de Jeroboam, el cual pecó, y ha hecho pecar á Israel.
17Entonces la mujer de Jeroboam se levantó, y se fué, y vino á Thirsa: y entrando ella por el umbral de la casa, el mozo murió.
18Y enterráronlo, y endechólo todo Israel, conforme á la palabra de Jehová, que él había hablado por mano de su siervo Ahías profeta.
19Los otros hechos de Jeroboam, qué guerras hizo, y cómo reinó, todo está escrito en el libro de las historias de los reyes de Israel.
20El tiempo que reinó Jeroboam fueron veintidós años; y habiendo dormido con sus padres, reinó en su lugar Nadab su hijo.
21Y Roboam hijo de Salomón reinó en Judá. De cuarenta y un años era Roboam cuando comenzó á reinar, y diecisiete años reinó en Jerusalem, ciudad que Jehová eligió de todas las tribus de Israel, para poner allí su nombre. El nombre de su madre fué Naama, Ammonita.
22Y Judá hizo lo malo en los ojos de Jehová, y enojáronle más que todo lo que sus padres habían hecho en sus pecados que cometieron.
23Porque ellos también se edificaron altos, estatuas, y bosques, en todo collado alto, y debajo de todo árbol frondoso:
24Y hubo también sodomitas en la tierra, é hicieron conforme á todas las abominaciones de las gentes que Jehová había echado delante de los hijos de Israel.
25Al quinto año del rey Roboam subió Sisac rey de Egipto contra Jerusalem.
26Y tomó los tesoros de la casa de Jehová, y los tesoros de la casa real, y saqueólo todo: llevóse también todos los escudos de oro que Salomón había hecho.
27Y en lugar de ellos hizo el rey Roboam escudos de metal, y diólos en manos de los capitanes de los de la guardia, quienes custodiaban la puerta de la casa real.
28Y cuando el rey entraba en la casa de Jehová, los de la guardia los llevaban; y poníanlos después en la cámara de los de la guardia.
29Lo demás de los hechos de Roboam, y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no están escritas en las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
30Y hubo guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam todos los días.
31Y durmió Roboam con sus padres, y fué sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David. El nombre de su madre fué Naama, Ammonita. Y reinó en su lugar Abiam su hijo.

1At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.
2And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.
3And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.
4And Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.
5And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman.
6And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.
7Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel,
8And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes;
9But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:
10Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.
11Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat: for the LORD hath spoken it.
12Arise thou therefore, get thee to thine own house: and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.
13And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him: for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.
14Moreover the LORD shall raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day: but what? even now.
15For the LORD shall smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.
16And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who did sin, and who made Israel to sin.
17And Jeroboam’s wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: and when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died;
18And they buried him; and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by the hand of his servant Ahijah the prophet.
19And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
20And the days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead.
21And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess.
22And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.
23For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.

1At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick.
2Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please get up and disguise yourself, so that you won’t be recognized as Jeroboam’s wife. Go to Shiloh. Behold, Ahijah the prophet is there, who said that I would be king over this people.
3Take with you ten loaves of bread, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will become of the child.”
4Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to Ahijah’s house. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.
5The LORD said to Ahijah, “Behold, Jeroboam’s wife is coming to inquire of you concerning her son, for he is sick. Tell her such and such; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”
6So when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, he said, “Come in, Jeroboam’s wife! Why do you pretend to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy news.
7Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘The LORD, the God of Israel, says: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,
8and tore the kingdom away from David’s house, and gave it to you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes,
9but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made for yourself other gods, molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back,
10therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall, he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung until it is all gone.
11The dogs will eat whoever belongs to Jeroboam who dies in the city; and the birds of the sky will eat whoever dies in the field, for the LORD has spoken it.”’
12Arise therefore, and go to your house. When your feet enter into the city, the child will die.
13All Israel will mourn for him and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam will come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.
14Moreover the LORD will raise up a king for himself over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is the day! What? Even now.
15For the LORD will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherah poles, provoking the LORD to anger.
16He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin.”
17Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.
18All Israel buried him and mourned for him, according to the LORD’s word, which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the prophet.

27King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who guarded the door of the king’s house.
28It was so, that as often as the king went into the LORD’s house, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.
29Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
30There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
31Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in David’s city. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess. Abijam his son reigned in his place.
