1David, avec les chefs de l’armée, assigna une place à part, dans le service du culte, aux fils d’Assaph, de Hêman et de Yedouthoun, qui pratiquaient l’art de la harpe, du luth et des cymbales. Suit le dénombrement de ces artistes exécutants, d’après la nature de leur emploi:
2Pour les fils d’Assaph, c’étaient Zaccour, Joseph, Netania et Acharèla; ces fils d’Assaph étaient dirigés par Assaph lui-même, qui officiait sous le contrôle du roi.
3Pour Yedouthoun: les fils de Yedouthoun, Ghedaliahou, Ceri, Isaïe, Hachabiahou, Mattitiahou et Chimeï, au nombre de six, sous la direction de leur père Yedouthoun, qui était chargé de louer et de célébrer l’Eternel au son de la harpe.
4Pour Hêman: les fils de Hêman, Boukkiyahou, Mattaniahou, Ouzziël, Chebouël, Yerimot, Hanania, Hanani, Elîata, Ghiddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Yochbekacha, Malloti, Hotir, Mahaziot.
5Tous ceux-ci étaient fils de Hêman, voyant du roi, chargé, dans le service divin, de sonner de la corne. Dieu avait donné à Hêman quatorze fils et trois filles.
6Tous avaient mission de participer, sous la direction de leur père, aux cantiques du temple de l’Eternel, en accompagnant de cymbales, de luths et de harpes le service de la maison de Dieu, suivant les instructions du roi à Assaph, Yedouthoun et Hêman.
7Ils s’élevaient au nombre de deux cent quatre-vingt-huit, en comptant avec eux leurs frères exercés aux cantiques du Seigneur, tous ceux qui étaient passés maîtres.
8On répartit par le sort leurs sections, en y comprenant également petits et grands, maîtres et apprentis.
9Le sort désigna en premier la famille d’Assaph en la personne de Joseph. Ghedaliahou fut le second: lui, ses frères et ses fils étaient ensemble douze.
10Le troisième fut Zaccour; avec ses fils et ses frères, douze.
11Le quatrième fut Yiçri, avec ses fils et ses frères, douze.
12Le cinquième fut Netaniahou; avec ses fils et ses frères, douze.
13Le sixième fut Boukkiyahou; avec ses fils et ses frères, douze.
14Le septième fut Yessarèla; avec ses fils et ses frères, douze.
15Le huitième fut Isaïe; avec ses fils et ses frères, douze.
16Le neuvième fut Mattaniahou; avec ses fils et ses frères, douze.
17Le dixième fut Chimeï; avec ses fils et ses frères, douze.
18Le onzième fut Azarêl; avec ses fils et ses frères, douze.

1ASIMISMO David y los príncipes del ejército apartaron para el ministerio á los hijos de Asaph, y de Hemán, y de Jeduthún, los cuales profetizasen con arpas, salterios, y címbalos: y el número de ellos fué, de hombres idóneos para la obra de su ministerio respectivo:
2De los hijos de Asaph: Zachûr, José, Methanías, y Asareela, hijos de Asaph, bajo la dirección de Asaph, el cual profetizaba á la orden del rey.
3De Jeduthún: los hijos de Jeduthún, Gedalías, Sesi, Jesaías, Hasabías, y Mathithías, y Simi: seis, bajo la mano de su padre Jeduthún, el cual profetizaba con arpa, para celebrar y alabar á Jehová.
4De Hemán: los hijos de Hemán, Buccia, Mathanía, Uzziel, Sebuel, Jerimoth, Hananías, Hanani, Eliatha, Gidalthi, Romamti-ezer, Josbecasa, Mallothi, Othir, y Mahazioth.
5Todos estos fueron hijos de Hemán, vidente del rey en palabras de Dios, para ensalzar el poder suyo: y dió Dios á Hemán catorce hijos y tres hijas.
6Y todos estos estaban bajo la dirección de su padre en la música, en la casa de Jehová, con címbalos, salterios y arpas, para el ministerio del templo de Dios, por disposición del rey acerca de Asaph, de Jeduthún, y de Hemán.
7Y el número de ellos con sus hermanos instruídos en música de Jehová, todos los aptos, fué doscientos ochenta y ocho.
8Y echaron suertes para los turnos del servicio, entrando el pequeño con el grande, lo mismo el maestro que el discípulo.
9Y la primera suerte salió por Asaph, á José: la segunda á Gedalías, quien con sus hermanos é hijos fueron doce;

1Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was:
2Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king.
3Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD.
4Of Heman: the sons of Heman; Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth:
5All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
6All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king’s order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.
7So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the LORD, even all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight.
8And they cast lots, ward against ward, as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar.
9Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah, who with his brethren and sons were twelve:
10The third to Zaccur, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve:

1Moreover, David and the captains of the army set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who were to prophesy with harps, with stringed instruments, and with cymbals. The number of those who did the work according to their service was:
2of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah. The sons of Asaph were under the hand of Asaph, who prophesied at the order of the king.
3Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising the LORD with the harp.
4Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.
