18estos tres valientes se abrieron paso a través del campamento filisteo, sacaron agua del pozo y se la trajeron a David. Pero este rehusó beberla, y la derramó como una ofrenda al Señor y exclamó: «¡Que Dios me libre de beber esta agua! ¡Si la bebo, sería como beberme la sangre de estos hombres que arriesgaron su vida por complacerme!».

18Y aquellos tres rompieron por el campo de los Filisteos, y sacaron agua del pozo de Beth-lehem, que está á la puerta, y tomaron y trajéronla á David: mas él no la quiso beber, sino que la derramó á Jehová, y dijo:
