1La quatrième année du roi Darius, la parole du SEIGNEUR fut adressée à Zacharie, le quatrième jour du neuvième mois, le mois de Kisleu.
2Béthel envoya Scharetser et Reguem-Mélec avec leurs hommes pour implorer la faveur du SEIGNEUR,
3et pour demander aux prêtres de la maison du SEIGNEUR des armées ainsi qu'aux prophètes : « Dois-je pleurer au cinquième mois en me privant de nourriture, comme je l'ai fait pendant tant d'années ? »
4Alors la parole du SEIGNEUR des armées me fut adressée :
5« Parle à tout le peuple du pays et aux prêtres, et dis-leur : ‘Quand vous avez jeûné et pleuré au cinquième et au septième mois pendant ces soixante-dix ans, est-ce vraiment pour moi que vous avez jeûné ?
6Et quand vous mangez et quand vous buvez, n'est-ce pas pour vous-mêmes que vous le faites ?
7Ne sont-ce pas là les paroles que le SEIGNEUR a proclamées par l'intermédiaire des anciens prophètes, lorsque Jérusalem était habitée et prospère, avec ses villes autour d'elle, et que le Néguev et la plaine étaient habités ?’ »
8La parole du SEIGNEUR fut adressée à Zacharie :
9« Ainsi a parlé le SEIGNEUR des armées : ‘Rendez la justice avec vérité, et témoignez de l'amour fidèle et de la compassion chacun envers son frère.
10N'opprimez ni la veuve, ni l'orphelin, ni l'étranger, ni le pauvre, et qu'aucun de vous ne trame le mal dans son cœur contre son frère.’
11Mais ils refusèrent d'écouter, ils tournèrent le dos, et ils se bouchèrent les oreilles pour ne pas entendre.
12Oui, ils rendirent leur cœur dur comme le diamant, pour ne pas entendre la loi et les paroles que le SEIGNEUR des armées avait envoyées par son Esprit, par l'intermédiaire des anciens prophètes. C'est pourquoi une grande colère vint de la part du SEIGNEUR des armées.
13« De même qu'il a appelé et qu'ils ont refusé d'écouter, de même ils appelleront et je n'écouterai pas », dit le SEIGNEUR des armées ;
14« mais je les disperserai par la tempête parmi toutes les nations qu'ils n'ont pas connues. Ainsi le pays fut dévasté après eux, de sorte que personne n'y passait ni n'y revenait ; car d'un pays de délices, ils ont fait une désolation. »

1Y ACONTECIÓ en el año cuarto del rey Darío, que fué palabra de Jehová á Zacarías á los cuatro del mes noveno, que es Chisleu;
2Cuando fué enviado á la casa de Dios, Saraser, con Regem-melech y sus hombres, á implorar el favor de Jehová,
3Y á hablar á los sacerdotes que estaban en la casa de Jehová de los ejércitos, y á los profetas, diciendo: ¿Lloraremos en el mes quinto? ¿haremos abstinencia como hemos hecho ya algunos años?
4Fué pues á mí palabra de Jehová de los ejércitos, diciendo:
5Habla á todo el pueblo del país, y á los sacerdotes, diciendo: Cuando ayunasteis y llorasteis en el quinto y en el séptimo mes estos setenta años, ¿habéis ayunado para mí?
6Y cuando coméis y bebéis, ¿no coméis y bebéis para vosotros?
7¿No son estas las palabras que publicó Jehová por mano de los profetas primeros, cuando Jerusalem estaba habitada y quieta, y sus ciudades en sus alrededores, y el mediodía y la campiña se habitaban?
8Y fué palabra de Jehová á Zacarías, diciendo:
9Así habló Jehová de los ejércitos, diciendo: Juzgad juicio verdadero, y haced misericordia y piedad cada cual con su hermano:
10No agraviéis á la viuda, ni al huérfano, ni al extranjero, ni al pobre; ni ninguno piense mal en su corazón contra su hermano.
11Empero no quisieron escuchar, antes dieron hombro rebelado, y agravaron sus oídos para no oir:
12Y pusieron su corazón como diamante, para no oir la ley ni las palabras que Jehová de los ejércitos enviaba por su espíritu, por mano de los profetas primeros: fué, por tanto, hecho grande castigo por Jehová de los ejércitos.
13Y aconteció que como él clamó, y no escucharon, así ellos clamaron, y yo no escuché, dice Jehová de los ejércitos;
14Antes los esparcí con torbellino por todas las gentes que ellos no conocían, y la tierra fué desolada tras de ellos, sin quedar quien fuese ni viniese; pues tornaron en asolamiento el país deseable.

1And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu;
2When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regem-melech, and their men, to pray before the LORD,
3And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?
4Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying,
5Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?
6And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?
7Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?
8And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying,
9Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:
10And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.
11But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.
12Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.
13Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:
14But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

1In the fourth year of King Darius, the LORD’s word came to Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, the month of Chislev.
2The people of Bethel sent Sharezer and Regem Melech and their men to entreat the LORD’s favor,
3and to speak to the priests of the house of the LORD of Armies and to the prophets, saying, “Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?”
4Then the word of the LORD of Armies came to me, saying,
5“Speak to all the people of the land and to the priests, saying, ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month for these seventy years, did you at all fast to me, really to me?
6When you eat and when you drink, don’t you eat for yourselves and drink for yourselves?
7Aren’t these the words which the LORD proclaimed by the former prophets when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and its cities around her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?’”
8The LORD’s word came to Zechariah, saying,
9“Thus has the LORD of Armies spoken, saying, ‘Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother.
10Don’t oppress the widow, the fatherless, the foreigner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.’
11But they refused to listen, and turned their backs, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.
12Yes, they made their hearts as hard as flint, lest they might hear the law and the words which the LORD of Armies had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from the LORD of Armies.
13It has come to pass that, as he called and they refused to listen, so they will call and I will not listen,” said the LORD of Armies;
14“but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate.”
