1Avertis-les d'être soumis aux princes et aux magistrats, de leur obéir, d'être prêts à toute bonne œuvre;
2De ne médire de personne, de n'être point querelleurs, d'être modérés, et de montrer une parfaite douceur envers tous les hommes.
3Car nous aussi, nous étions autrefois insensés, désobéissants, égarés, assujettis à des passions et à des voluptés diverses, vivant dans la malice et dans l'envie, dignes de haine, et nous haïssant les uns les autres.
4Mais lorsque la bonté de Dieu notre Sauveur et son amour pour les hommes ont été manifestés, il nous a sauvés,
5Non à cause des œuvres de justice que nous aurions faites, mais selon sa miséricorde, par le bain de la régénération, et le renouvellement du Saint-Esprit,
6Qu'il a répandu avec richesse sur nous, par Jésus-Christ notre Sauveur;
7Afin que, justifiés par sa grâce, nous fussions héritiers de la vie éternelle selon notre espérance.
8Cette parole est certaine, et je veux que tu établisses fortement ces choses, afin que ceux qui ont cru en Dieu s'appliquent à pratiquer les bonnes œuvres; voilà les choses qui sont bonnes et utiles aux hommes.
9Mais évite les questions folles, les généalogies, les contestations et les disputes touchant la loi; car elles sont inutiles et vaines.
10Éloigne-toi de l'homme hérétique, après l'avoir averti une première et une seconde fois;
11Sachant qu'un tel homme est perverti, et qu'il pèche, en se condamnant lui-même.
12Lorsque j'enverrai Artémas, ou Tychique vers toi, hâte-toi de venir auprès de moi à Nicopolis; car j'ai résolu d'y passer l'hiver.
13Reconduis avec soin Zénas, le docteur de la loi, et Apollos, en sorte que rien ne leur manque.
14Et que les nôtres apprennent aussi à faire de bonnes œuvres, dans les besoins pressants, afin qu'ils ne demeurent pas sans fruit.
15Tous ceux qui sont avec moi te saluent. Salue ceux qui nous aiment dans la foi. La grâce soit avec vous tous! Amen.

1AMONÉSTALES que se sujeten á los príncipes y potestades, que obedezcan, que estén prontos á toda buena obra.
2Que á nadie infamen, que no sean pendencieros, sino modestos, mostrando toda mansedumbre para con todos los hombres.
3Porque también éramos nosotros necios en otro tiempo, rebeldes, extraviados, sirviendo á concupiscencias y deleites diversos, viviendo en malicia y en envidia, aborrecibles, aborreciendo los unos á los otros.
4Mas cuando se manifestó la bondad de Dios nuestro Salvador, y su amor para con los hombres,
5No por obras de justicia que nosotros habíamos hecho, mas por su misericordia nos salvó, por el lavacro de la regeneración, y de la renovación del Espíritu Santo;
6El cual derramó en nosotros abundantemente por Jesucristo nuestro Salvador,
7Para que, justificados por su gracia, seamos hechos herederos según la esperanza de la vida eterna.
8Palabra fiel, y estas cosas quiero que afirmes, para que los que creen á Dios procuren gobernarse en buenas obras. Estas cosas son buenas y útiles á los hombres.
9Mas las cuestiones necias, y genealogías, y contenciones, y debates acerca de la ley, evita; porque son sin provecho y vanas.
10Rehusa hombre hereje, después de una y otra amonestación;
11Estando cierto que el tal es trastornado, y peca, siendo condenado de su propio juicio.
12Cuando enviare á ti á Artemas, ó á Tichîco, procura venir á mí, á Nicópolis: porque allí he determinado invernar.
13A Zenas doctor de la ley, y á Apolos, envía delante, procurando que nada les falte.
14Y aprendan asimismo los nuestros á gobernarse en buenas obras para los usos necesarios, para que no sean sin fruto.
15Todos los que están conmigo te saludan. Saluda á los que nos aman en la fe. La gracia sea con todos vosotros. Amén. A Tito, el cual fué el primer obispo ordenado á la iglesia de los Cretenses, escrita de Nicópolis de Macedonia.

1Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
2To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
3For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
9But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
10A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
11Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
12When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.
13Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.
14And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
15All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.

1Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,
2to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all humility toward all men.
3For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward mankind appeared,
5not by works of righteousness which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
6whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior;
7that being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you insist confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men;
9but shun foolish questionings, genealogies, strife, and disputes about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
10Avoid a factious man after a first and second warning,
11knowing that such a one is perverted and sinful, being self-condemned.
12When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me to Nicopolis, for I have determined to winter there.
13Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey speedily, that nothing may be lacking for them.
14Let our people also learn to maintain good works to meet necessary needs, that they may not be unfruitful.
15All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.
