Para este propósito te dejé en Creta, para que pusieras en orden las cosas que no han sido completadas y nombres ancianos en cada ciudad como te instruí.

Es necesario que el obispo, como administrador de la casa de Dios, sea irreprensible. No debe ser escandaloso o desenfrenado. No se debe enojar fácilmente, ni ser adicto al vino, ni alborotador, ni codicioso.
Porque es menester que el obispo sea sin crimen, como dispensador de Dios; no soberbio, no iracundo, no amador del vino, no heridor, no codicioso de torpes ganancias;

En su lugar, debe ser hospitalario, amigo de lo que es bueno. Debe ser sensible, justo, piadoso y tener dominio propio.
Sino hospedador, amador de lo bueno, templado, justo, santo, continente;
But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled,
Debe aferrarse fuertemente al mensaje confiable que le fue enseñado, de modo que él pueda motivar a otros con sana enseñanza y corregir a aquellos que se le oponen.
Retenedor de la fiel palabra que es conforme á la doctrina: para que también pueda exhortar con sana doctrina, y convencer á los que contradijeren.
Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

Porque hay muchas personas rebeldes, especialmente aquellos de la circuncisión. Sus palabras no tienen valor. Ellos engañan y guían a las personas en la dirección equivocada.

Es necesario detenerlos. Ellos enseñan lo que no deberían enseñar por ganancias deshonestas y dividen familias enteras.
A los cuales es preciso tapar la boca; que trastornan casas enteras; enseñando lo que no conviene, por torpe ganancia.

Para aquellos que son puros, todas las cosas son puras. Pero para aquellos que están manchados e incrédulos, nada es puro. Porque sus mentes y conciencias han sido manchadas.
Todas las cosas son limpias á los limpios; mas á los contaminados é infieles nada es limpio: antes su alma y conciencia están contaminadas.
