Rut 1

A tempo di uno de' giudici allorché in mano dei giudici era il governo d'Israele, il paese soffrì la farne. E uno di Bethlehem di Giuda andò ad abitar come forestiero nella regione di Moab colla moglie, e con due figliuoli:

Y ACONTECIÓ en los días que gobernaban los jueces, que hubo hambre en la tierra. Y un varón de Beth-lehem de Judá, fué á peregrinar en los campos de Moab, él y su mujer, y dos hijos suyos.

Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Beth-lehem-judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.

Egli si chiamava Elimelech, e sua moglie Noemi: e i due figliuoli, uno Mahalon e l'altro Chelion, Ephrathei di Bethlehem di Giuda. Ed entrati nel paese di Moab, ivi dimorarono.

El nombre de aquel varón era Elimelech, y el de su mujer Noemi; y los nombres de sus dos hijos eran, Mahalón y Chelión, Ephrateos de Beth-lehem de Judá. Llegaron pues á los campos de Moab, y asentaron allí.

And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Beth-lehem-judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.

The name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi. The names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem Judah. They came into the country of Moab and lived there.

E morì Elimelech marito di Noemi; ed ella restò co' suoi figliuoli.

Y murió Elimelech, marido de Noemi, y quedó ella con sus dos hijos;

And Elimelech Naomi’s husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.

I quali preser mogli di Moab, delle quali una chiamavasi Orpha, e l'altra Ruth. E ivi si fermarono per dieci anni.

Los cuales tomaron para sí mujeres de Moab, el nombre de la una Orpha, y el nombre de la otra Ruth; y habitaron allí unos diez años.

And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.

E morirono ambedue, Mahalon, e Chelion; e restò la donna priva del marito, e senza i due figli.

Y murieron también los dos, Mahalón y Chelión, quedando así la mujer desamparada de sus dos hijos y de su marido.

And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.

E si mosse per tornare alla sua patria dalla terra di Moab, con tutte e due le nuore: perocché avea sentito dire che il Signore avea rivolto lo sguardo verso il suo popolo, e gli avea dato da mangiare.

Entonces se levantó con sus nueras, y volvióse de los campos de Moab: porque oyó en el campo de Moab que Jehová había visitado á su pueblo para darles pan.

Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.

Partì adunque dal luogo del suo pellegrinaggio con ambedue le sue nuore: ed essendo in istrada per tornare alla terra di Giuda,

Salió pues del lugar donde había estado, y con ella sus dos nueras, y comenzaron á caminar para volverse á la tierra de Judá.

Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.

Disse loro: Andatevene a casa di vostra madre: e il Signore sia misericordioso con voi, come voi siete state con quei che ora son morti, e con me:

Y Noemi dijo á sus dos nueras: Andad, volveos cada una á la casa de su madre: Jehová haga con vosotras misericordia, como la habéis hecho con los muertos y conmigo.

And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother’s house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.

Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go, return each of you to her mother’s house. May the LORD deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead and with me.

E faccia che troviate pace nelle case de' mariti che vi toccheranno. E le baciò. Ed elleno singhiozzando forte diedero in pianti,

Déos Jehová que halléis descanso, cada una en casa de su marido: besólas luego, y ellas lloraron á voz en grito.

The LORD grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept.

E dissero: Noi verremo con te nella tua gente.

Y dijéronle: Ciertamente nosotras volveremos contigo á tu pueblo.

And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.

They said to her, “No, but we will return with you to your people.”

Ed ella rispose loro: Andatevene, figliuole mie, perchè venite voi meco? ho io forse ancor nel mio seno de' figli onde possiate sperar da me dei mariti?

Y Noemi respondió: Volveos, hijas mías: ¿para qué habéis de ir conmigo? ¿tengo yo más hijos en el vientre, que puedan ser vuestros maridos?

And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?

Naomi said, “Go back, my daughters. Why do you want to go with me? Do I still have sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?

Tornate indietro, figliuole mie, e andatevene: perocché io son già rotta dalla vecchiezza, e inetta al nodo matrimoniale: e quand'anche potessi concepir questa notte, e partorir de' figliuoli,

Volveos, hijas mías, é idos; que yo ya soy vieja para ser para varón. Y aunque dijese: Esperanza tengo; y esta noche fuese con varón, y aun pariese hijos;

Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;

Go back, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have a husband. If I should say, ‘I have hope,’ if I should even have a husband tonight, and should also bear sons,

Se voleste aspettare, finchè crescessero, e giungessero agli anni della pubertà, sareste prima vecchie che maritate. No, figliuole mie, di grazia non fate questo: perocché la vostra angustia aggrava la mia e la mano del Signore si è stesa contro di me.

¿Habíais vosotras de esperarlos hasta que fuesen grandes? ¿habías vosotras de quedaros sin casar por amor de ellos? No, hijas mías; que mayor amargura tengo yo que vosotras, pues la mano de Jehová ha salido contra mí.

Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD is gone out against me.

would you then wait until they were grown? Would you then refrain from having husbands? No, my daughters, for it grieves me seriously for your sakes, for the LORD’s hand has gone out against me.”

Quelle allora alzaron le strida, e tornarono a piangere: Orpha baciò la suocera, e se n'andò: Ruth non si staccò dalla suocera.

Mas ellas alzando otra vez su voz, lloraron: y Orpha besó á su suegra, mas Ruth se quedó con ella.

And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.

They lifted up their voices and wept again; then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth stayed with her.

E Noemi le disse: Ecco che la tua cognata se ne torna al suo popolo, e a' suoi dei: va con lei.

Y Noemi dijo: He aquí tu cuñada se ha vuelto á su pueblo y á sus dioses; vuélvete tú tras ella.

And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.

She said, “Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her god. Follow your sister-in-law.”

E quella rispose: Non inquietarmi, perchè io ti lasci, e me ne vada: dovunque anderai tu, anderò io, e dove starai tu, ivi io pure starò. Il popol tuo sarà il mio popolo, e il tuo Dio il mio Dio.

Y Ruth respondió: No me ruegues que te deje, y me aparte de ti: porque donde quiera que tú fueres, iré yo; y donde quiera que vivieres, viviré. Tu pueblo será mi pueblo, y tu Dios mi Dios.

And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

Ruth said, “Don’t urge me to leave you, and to return from following you, for where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God my God.

Nella terra che te riceverà alla tua morte, io morrò: e ivi avrò sepoltura. Faccia il Signore a me male e peggio, se altra cosa, fuorché la morte sola, da te mi dividerà.

Donde tú murieres, moriré yo, y allí seré sepultada: así me haga Jehová, y así me dé, que sólo la muerte hará separación entre mí y ti.

Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.

Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me.”

Vedendo adunque Noemi, come Ruth avea fissa nell'animo suo la risoluzione di andar con lei, non volle più contraddirle, nè consigliarla a tornare ai suoi:

Y viendo Noemi que estaba tan resuelta á ir con ella, dejó de hablarle.

When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.

When Naomi saw that she was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.

E partirono insieme, e giunsero a Bethlehem. Ed entrate che furono nella città, se ne sparse subito in ogni luogo la fama, e le donne dicevano: Ella è quella Noemi:

Anduvieron pues ellas dos hasta que llegaron á Beth-lehem: y aconteció que entrando en Beth-lehem, toda la ciudad se conmovió por razón de ellas, y decían: ¿No es ésta Noemi?

So they two went until they came to Beth-lehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Beth-lehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?

So they both went until they came to Bethlehem. When they had come to Bethlehem, all the city was excited about them, and they asked, “Is this Naomi?”

Ed ella diceva loro: Non mi chiamate Noemi (vale a dir bella), ma chiamatemi Mara (cioè amara): perocché di amarezza mi ha ricolma sino al sommo l'Onnipotente.

Y ella les respondía: No me llaméis Noemi, sino llamadme Mara: porque en grande amargura me ha puesto el Todopoderoso.

And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.

She said to them, “Don’t call me Naomi. Call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.

Io partii piena, e il Signore mi ha ricondotta senza nulla. Perchè adunque mi chiamate Noemi, mentre il Signore mi ha umiliata, e l'Onnipotente mi ha afflitta?

Yo me fuí llena, mas vacía me ha vuelto Jehová. ¿Por qué me llamaréis Noemi, ya que Jehová ha dado testimonio contra mí, y el Todopoderoso me ha afligido?

I went out full, and the LORD hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?

I went out full, and the LORD has brought me home again empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the LORD has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?”

Noemi adunque lasciò il paese del suo pellegrinaggio, e tornò a Bethlehem con Ruth di Moab sua nuora in tempo che principiava a mietersi l'orzo. Ruth astretta dalla fame va a raccogliere delle spighe nel campo di Booz suo parente, da cui è ben veduta; e lieta se ne torna la sera a trovar la suocera, portandole dell'orzo in quantità, e di quello, che le era avanzato del suo mangiare.

Así volvió Noemi y Ruth Moabita su nuera con ella; volvió de los campos de Moab, y llegaron á Beth-lehem en el principio de la siega de las cebadas.

So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Beth-lehem in the beginning of barley harvest.
