Imperocché i principi sono il terrore non delle opere buone, ma delle cattive. Vuoi tu non aver paura della podestà? Opera bene; e da essa avrai lode:

Porque los magistrados no son para temor al que bien hace, sino al malo. ¿Quieres pues no temer la potestad? haz lo bueno, y tendrás alabanza de ella;

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
