Maskil de Asaf. ¿Por qué, oh Dios, nos desechas para siempre? ¿Por qué arde tu ira contra el rebaño de tu dehesa?
Salmo de Asaph. CIERTAMENTE bueno es Dios á Israel, á los limpios de corazón.
Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.
Acuérdate de tu grey que hiciste tuya desde antiguo, de la estirpe que rescataste para hacerla tu herencia; del monte Sión que elegiste para morada tuya.
Mas yo, casi se deslizaron mis pies; por poco resbalaron mis pasos.
But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.

Dirige tus pasos hacia esas perpetuas ruinas: todo lo ha devastado el enemigo en el Santuario.
Porque tuve envidia de los insensatos, viendo la prosperidad de los impíos.
For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

Los que te odian rugieron en el recinto de tus asambleas; pusieron sus enseñas por trofeo.
Porque no hay ataduras para su muerte; antes su fortaleza está entera.
For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
For there are no struggles in their death, but their strength is firm.
Talaron allí como quien alza la segur en lo espeso de la selva;
No están ellos en el trabajo humano; ni son azotados con los otros hombres.
They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.
They are free from burdens of men, neither are they plagued like other men.
y ya con hacha y martillo hacen pedazos sus puertas.
Por tanto soberbia los corona: cúbrense de vestido de violencia.
Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck. Violence covers them like a garment.
Entregaron al fuego tu Santuario, profanaron, arrasándolo, el tabernáculo de tu Nombre.
Sus ojos están salidos de gruesos: logran con creces los antojos del corazón.
Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
Their eyes bulge with fat. Their minds pass the limits of conceit.
Decían en su corazón: “Destruyámoslos por completo; pegad fuego a todas las sinagogas de Dios en el país.”
Soltáronse, y hablan con maldad de hacer violencia; hablan con altanería.
They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
They scoff and speak with malice. In arrogance, they threaten oppression.
Ya no vemos nuestras señales, ya no hay profeta, ni queda entre nosotros quien sepa hasta cuándo.
Ponen en el cielo su boca, y su lengua pasea la tierra.
They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
They have set their mouth in the heavens. Their tongue walks through the earth.
¿Hasta cuándo, oh Dios, nos afrentará el enemigo? ¿Ha de blasfemar siempre tu Nombre el adversario?
Por eso su pueblo vuelve aquí, y aguas de lleno les son exprimidas.
Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
Therefore their people return to them, and they drink up waters of abundance.
¿Por qué retiras tu mano y retienes en tu seno tu diestra?
Y dicen: ¿Cómo sabe Dios? ¿y hay conocimiento en lo alto?
And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
They say, “How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?”
Porque Tú, Yahvé, eres nuestro Rey, el que de antiguo ha obrado la salvación en medio de la tierra.
He aquí estos impíos, sin ser turbados del mundo, alcanzaron riquezas.
Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
Behold, these are the wicked. Being always at ease, they increase in riches.
Tú dividiste el mar con tu poder y quebrantaste la cabeza de los dragones en las aguas;
Verdaderamente en vano he limpiado mi corazón, y lavado mis manos en inocencia;
Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence,
Tú aplastaste las cabezas de Leviatán, y lo diste por comida a las fieras que pueblan el desierto.
Pues he sido azotado todo el día, y empezaba mi castigo por las mañanas.
For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

Tú hiciste brotar fuentes y torrentes, y secaste ríos perennes.
Si dijera yo, Discurriré de esa suerte; he aquí habría negado la nación de tus hijos:
If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.
If I had said, “I will speak thus”, behold, I would have betrayed the generation of your children.
Tuyo es el día y tuya la noche; Tú pusiste los astros y el sol.
Pensaré pues para saber esto: es á mis ojos duro trabajo,
When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
When I tried to understand this, it was too painful for me—
Tú trazaste todos los confines de la tierra; el verano y el invierno Tú los hiciste.
Hasta que venido al santuario de Dios, entenderé la postrimería de ellos.
Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
until I entered God’s sanctuary, and considered their latter end.
Recuérdalo Yahvé: el enemigo blasfema; un pueblo impío ultraja tu Nombre.
Ciertamente los has puesto en deslizaderos; en asolamientos los harás caer.
Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
Surely you set them in slippery places. You throw them down to destruction.
No entregues al buitre la vida de tu tórtola; no quieras olvidar perpetuamente a tus pobres.
¡Cómo han sido asolados! ¡cuán en un punto! Acabáronse, fenecieron con turbaciones.
How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
How they are suddenly destroyed! They are completely swept away with terrors.
Vuelve los ojos a tu alianza, pues todos los rincones del país son guaridas de violencia;
Como sueño del que despierta, así, Señor, cuando despertares, menospreciarás sus apariencias.
As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
As a dream when one wakes up, so, Lord, when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.
no sea que el oprimido, en su confusión, se vuelva atrás; puedan el pobre y el desvalido alabar tu Nombre.
Desazonóse á la verdad mi corazón, y en mis riñones sentía punzadas.
Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
For my soul was grieved. I was embittered in my heart.
Levántate, Dios, defiende tu causa; recuerda cómo el insensato te insulta continuamente.
Mas yo era ignorante, y no entendía: era como una bestia acerca de ti.
So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
I was so senseless and ignorant. I was a brute beast before you.
No te olvides del vocerío de tus adversarios, porque crece el tumulto de los que se levantan contra Ti.
Con todo, yo siempre estuve contigo: trabaste de mi mano derecha.
Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
Nevertheless, I am continually with you. You have held my right hand.

Hasme guiado según tu consejo, y después me recibirás en gloria.
Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

¿A quién tengo yo en los cielos? Y fuera de ti nada deseo en la tierra.
Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
Whom do I have in heaven? There is no one on earth whom I desire besides you.

Mi carne y mi corazón desfallecen: mas la roca de mi corazón y mi porción es Dios para siempre.
My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

Porque he aquí, los que se alejan de ti perecerán: tú cortarás á todo aquel que fornicando, de ti se aparta.
For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
For, behold, those who are far from you shall perish. You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to you.

Y en cuanto á mí, el acercarme á Dios es el bien: he puesto en el Señor Jehová mi esperanza, para contar todas tus obras.
But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
But it is good for me to come close to God. I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.
