Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.
Be merciful to me, God, for man wants to swallow me up. All day long, he attacks and oppresses me.
Erbarme dich meiner, o Gott, / denn Menschen schnauben wider mich, / allezeit bedrängen mich Krieger. /
Apúranme mis enemigos cada día; porque muchos son los que pelean contra mí, oh Altísimo.
Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.
My enemies want to swallow me up all day long, for they are many who fight proudly against me.
Meine Feinde schnauben den ganzen Tag, / ja, viele bekriegen mich bitter. /
En el día que temo, yo en ti confío.
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.
Tag für Tag rufe ich zu dir; / ich vertraue auf Gott,
En Dios alabaré su palabra: en Dios he confiado, no temeré lo que la carne me hiciere.
In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?

Todos los días me contristan mis negocios; contra mí son todos sus pensamientos para mal.
Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.
All day long they twist my words. All their thoughts are against me for evil.
Unablässig fechten sie mich an, / ihr ganzes Sinnen geht auf mein Verderben. /
Reúnense, escóndense, miran ellos atentamente mis pasos, esperando mi vida.
They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.
They conspire and lurk, watching my steps. They are eager to take my life.
Sie rotten sich zusammen und lauern; / sie spähen nach meinen Fersen, / wie solche, die mir nach dem Leben trachten. /
¿Escaparán ellos por la iniquidad? Oh Dios, derriba en tu furor los pueblos.
Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.

Ob des Frevels gibt es für sie kein Entrinnen. / Im Zorne stürze die Völker, o Gott! /
Mis huídas has tú contado: pon mis lágrimas en tu redoma: ¿no están ellas en tu libro?
Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?
You count my wanderings. You put my tears into your container. Aren’t they in your book?
Du hast gezählt die Tage meines Elends, / meine Tränen hebst du bei dir auf; / stehen sie doch in deinem Buche. /
Serán luego vueltos atrás mis enemigos el día que yo clamare: en esto conozco que Dios es por mí.
When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.
Then my enemies shall turn back in the day that I call. I know this: that God is for me.

En Dios he confiado: no temeré lo que me hará el hombre.
In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.

Auf Gott vertraue ich, fürchte mich nicht; / was könnten Menschen mir antun? /
Sobre mí, oh Dios, están tus votos: te tributaré alabanzas.
Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.
Your vows are on me, God. I will give thank offerings to you.
Ich schulde dir, Gott, Gelübde; / Dankopfer will ich dir bezahlen. / Denn du hast mein Leben vom Tode errettet, / ja, meine Füsse vom Sturze, / dass ich vor Gott wandle im Lichte des Lebens. (a) Ps 116:8 9
