Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:

Höret an, ihr Völker alle! / Merket auf, alle Bewohner der Welt, /
Así los plebeyos como los nobles, el rico y el pobre juntamente.
Both low and high, rich and poor, together.

geringe Leute sowohl wie Herren, / der Reiche und der Arme zumal! /
Mi boca hablará sabiduría; y el pensamiento de mi corazón inteligencia.
My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

Mein Mund soll Weisheit reden / und das Dichten meines Herzens Einsicht sein. /
Acomodaré á ejemplos mi oído: declararé con el arpa mi enigma.
I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.

¿Por qué he de temer en los días de adversidad, cuando la iniquidad de mis insidiadores me cercare?

Warum muss ich mitansehn die Tage des Bösen, / wo mich mit Frevel umgeben meine tückischen Feinde, /
Los que confían en sus haciendas, y en la muchedumbre de sus riquezas se jactan,
They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

die sich verlassen auf ihr Vermögen / und ihres grossen Reichtums sich rühmen? / (a) Ps 52:9
Ninguno de ellos podrá en manera alguna redimir al hermano, ni dar á Dios su rescate.

Doch loskaufen kann sich keiner, / keiner Gott das Lösegeld für sich bezahlen - /

Pues se ve que mueren los sabios, así como el insensato y el necio perecen, y dejan á otros sus riquezas.
For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

En su interior tienen que sus casas serán eternas, y sus habitaciones para generación y generación: llamaron sus tierras de sus nombres.
Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.

Gräber sind ihre Behausung auf immer, / ihre Wohnungen für und für, / ob sie auch Länder benannten mit ihren Namen. /
Mas el hombre no permanecerá en honra: es semejante á las bestias que perecen.
Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
But man, despite his riches, doesn’t endure. He is like the animals that perish.
Der Mensch in seiner Pracht ist ohne Bestand, / wird gleich dem Vieh, das abgetan wird. / (a) Ps 49:21; Pre 3:19
Este su camino es su locura: con todo, corren sus descendientes por el dicho de ellos. (Selah.)
This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.
This is the destiny of those who are foolish, and of those who approve their sayings. Selah.
Das ist das Geschick derer, die so zuversichtlich sind, / und der Ausgang derer, die sich in grossen Worten gefallen. /
Como rebaños serán puestos en la sepultura; la muerte se cebará en ellos; y los rectos se enseñorearán de ellos por la mañana: y se consumirá su bien parecer en el sepulcro de su morada.
Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
They are appointed as a flock for Sheol. Death shall be their shepherd. The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty shall decay in Sheol, far from their mansion.
Schafen gleich sinken sie zur Unterwelt, der Tod weidet sie; / geraden Wegs fahren sie zu Grabe. / Ihre Gestalt zerfällt, die Unterwelt wird ihre Wohnung. /
Empero Dios redimirá mi vida del poder de la sepultura, cuando me tomará. (Selah.)
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

Aber Gott wird meine Seele erlösen / aus der Gewalt der Unterwelt; denn er wird mich entrücken. /
No temas cuando se enriquece alguno, cuando aumenta la gloria de su casa;
Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
Don’t be afraid when a man is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
Lass dich's nicht anfechten, wenn einer auch reich wird / und die Herrlichkeit seines Hauses sich mehrt. /
Porque en muriendo no llevará nada, ni descenderá tras él su gloria.
For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
for when he dies he will carry nothing away. His glory won’t descend after him.

sie kommt doch zu der Wohnung seiner Väter, / die das Licht nimmermehr schauen. / Der Mensch in Pracht, doch ohne Verstand, / wird gleich dem Vieh, das abgetan wird.
El hombre en honra que no entiende, semejante es á las bestias que perecen.
Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
A man who has riches without understanding, is like the animals that perish.
