1For the end, a Psalm for Gr. understanding instruction, for the sons of Core. - O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us, the work which thou wroughtest in their days, in the days of old.
2Thine hand utterly destroyed the heathen, and thou didst plant them: thou didst afflict the nations, and cast them out.
3For they inherited not the land by their own sword, and their own arm did not deliver them; but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou wert well pleased in them.
4Thou art indeed my King and my God, who commandest deliverances for Jacob.
5In thee will we push down our enemies, and in thy name will we bring to nought them that rise up against us.
6For I will not trust in my bow, and my sword shall not save me.
7For thou hast saved us from them that afflicted us, and hast put to shame them that hated us.
8In God Gr. will we be praised, etc. See Ps 107 will we make our boast all the day, and to thy name will we give thanks for ever. Pause.
9But now thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and thou wilt not go forth with our hosts.
10Thou hast turned us back before our enemies; and they that hated us spoiled for themselves.
11Thou madest us as sheep for meat; and thou scatteredst us among the nations.
12Thou hast sold thy people without price, and there was no profit by their exchange.
13Thou hast made us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision them that are round about us.
14Thou hast made us a proverb among the Gentiles, a shaking of the head among the nations.
15All the day my shame is before me, and the confusion of my face has covered me,
16because of the voice of the slanderer and reviler; because of the enemy and avenger.
17All these things are come upon us: but we have not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt unrighteously in thy covenant.
18And our heart has not gone back; but thou hast turned aside our paths from thy way.
19For thou hast laid us low in a place of affliction, and the shadow of death has covered us.
20If we have forgotten the name of our God, and if we have spread out our hands to a strange god; shall not God search these things out?
21for he knows the secrets of the heart.
22Ro 8:36 For, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for slaughter.
23Awake, wherefore sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, and do not cast us off for ever.
24Wherefore turnest thou thy face away, and forgettest our poverty and our affliction?
25For our soul has been brought down to the dust; our belly has cleaved to the earth.
26Arise, O Lord, help us, and redeem us for thy name’s sake.

2Tú con tu mano echaste las gentes, y los plantaste á ellos; afligiste los pueblos, y los arrojaste.
3Porque no se apoderaron de la tierra por su espada, ni su brazo los libró; sino tu diestra, y tu brazo, y la luz de tu rostro, porque te complaciste en ellos.
4Tú, oh Dios, eres mi rey: manda saludes á Jacob.
5Por medio de ti sacudiremos á nuestros enemigos: en tu nombre atropellaremos á nuestros adversarios.
6Porque no confiaré en mi arco, ni mi espada me salvará.
7Pues tú nos has guardado de nuestros enemigos, y has avergonzado á los que nos aborrecían.
8En Dios nos gloriaremos todo tiempo, y para siempre loaremos tu nombre. (Selah.)
9Empero nos has desechado, y nos has hecho avergonzar; y no sales en nuestros ejércitos.
10Nos hiciste retroceder del enemigo, y saqueáronnos para sí los que nos aborrecían.
11Pusístenos como á ovejas para comida, y esparcístenos entre las gentes.
12Has vendido tu pueblo de balde, y no pujaste en sus precios.
13Pusístenos por vergüenza á nuestros vecinos, por escarnio y por burla á los que nos rodean.
14Pusístenos por proverbio entre las gentes, por movimiento de cabeza en los pueblos.
15Cada día mi vergüenza está delante de mí, y cúbreme la confusión de mi rostro,
16Por la voz del que me vitupera y deshonra, por razón del enemigo y del que se venga.
17Todo esto nos ha venido, y no nos hemos olvidado de ti; y no hemos faltado á tu pacto.
18No se ha vuelto atrás nuestro corazón, ni tampoco se han apartado nuestros pasos de tus caminos.
19Cuando nos quebrantaste en el lugar de los dragones, y nos cubriste con sombra de muerte,
20Si nos hubiésemos olvidado del nombre de nuestro Dios, ó alzado nuestras manos á dios ajeno,
21¿No demandaría Dios esto? porque él conoce los secretos del corazón.
22Empero por tu causa nos matan cada día; somos tenidos como ovejas para el matadero.
23Despierta; ¿por qué duermes, Señor? Despierta, no te alejes para siempre.
24¿Por qué escondes tu rostro, y te olvidas de nuestra aflicción, y de la opresión nuestra?
25Porque nuestra alma está agobiada hasta el polvo: nuestro vientre está pegado con la tierra.
26Levántate para ayudarnos, y redímenos por tu misericordia.

2How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.

1We have heard with our ears, God; our fathers have told us what work you did in their days, in the days of old.
2You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.
3For they didn’t get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.
4God, you are my King. Command victories for Jacob!
5Through you, we will push down our adversaries. Through your name, we will tread down those who rise up against us.
6For I will not trust in my bow, neither will my sword save me.
7But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have shamed those who hate us.
8In God we have made our boast all day long. We will give thanks to your name forever. Selah.
9But now you rejected us, and brought us to dishonor, and don’t go out with our armies.
10You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take plunder for themselves.
11You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.
12You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.
13You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.
14You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
15All day long my dishonor is before me, and shame covers my face,
16at the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.
17All this has come on us, yet we haven’t forgotten you. We haven’t been false to your covenant.
18Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path,
19though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.
20If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread out our hands to a strange god,
21won’t God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
22Yes, for your sake we are killed all day long. We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.
23Wake up! Why do you sleep, Lord? Arise! Don’t reject us forever.
24Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?
25For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body clings to the earth.
26Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness’ sake.
