1Louez l’Eternel. Célébrez l’Eternel ; car il est bon, parce que sa bonté demeure à toujours.
2Qui pourrait réciter les exploits de l’Eternel ? Qui pourrait faire retentir toute sa louange ?
3Ô que bienheureux sont ceux qui observent la justice, et qui font en tout temps ce qui est juste !
4Eternel, souviens-toi de moi selon la bienveillance que tu portes à ton peuple, et aie soin de moi selon ta délivrance.
5Afin que je voie le bien de tes élus, que je me réjouisse dans la joie de ta nation, et que je me glorifie avec ton héritage.
6Nous avons péché avec nos pères, nous avons agi iniquement, nous avons mal fait.
7Nos pères n’ont point été attentifs à tes merveilles en Egypte ; ils ne se sont point souvenus de la multitude de tes faveurs ; mais ils ont été rebelles auprès de la mer, vers la mer Rouge.
8Toutefois il les délivra pour l’amour de son Nom, afin de donner à connaître sa puissance.
9Car il tança la mer Rouge, et elle se sécha, et il les conduisit par les gouffres comme par le désert ;
10Et les délivra de la main de ceux qui les haïssaient, et les garantit de la main de l’ennemi.
11Et les eaux couvrirent leurs oppresseurs, il n’en resta pas un seul.
12Alors ils crurent à ses paroles, et ils chantèrent sa louange.
13Mais ils mirent incontinent en oubli ses oeuvres, et ne s’attendirent point à son conseil.
14Mais ils furent épris de convoitise au désert, et ils tentèrent le Dieu Fort au lieu inhabitable.
15Alors il leur donna ce qu’ils avaient demandé, toutefois il leur envoya une phtisie en leur corps.
16Ils portèrent envie à Moïse dans le camp, et à Aaron le saint de l’Eternel.
17La terre s’ouvrit, et engloutit Dathan, et couvrit la bande d’Abiram.
18Aussi le feu s’alluma en leur assemblée, et la flamme brûla les méchants.
19Ils firent un veau en Horeb, et se prosternèrent devant l’image de fonte.
20Ils changèrent leur gloire en la figure d’un boeuf qui mange l’herbe.
21Ils oublièrent le Dieu Fort, leur Libérateur, qui avait fait de grandes choses en Egypte ;
22Des choses merveilleuses au pays de Cam, et des choses terribles sur la mer Rouge.
23C’est pourquoi il dit qu’il les détruirait ; mais Moïse son élu se tint à la brèche devant lui, pour détourner sa fureur, afin qu’il ne les défît point.
24Ils méprisèrent le pays désirable, et ne crurent point à sa parole.
25Et ils se mutinèrent dans leurs tentes, et n’obéirent point à la voix de l’Eternel.
26C’est pourquoi il leur jura la main levée, qu’il les renverserait dans le désert,
27Et qu’il accablerait leur postérité parmi les nations, et qu’il les disperserait par les pays.
28Ils se joignirent aux adorateurs de Bahal-Péhor, et mangèrent des sacrifices des morts.
29Et ils dépitèrent Dieu par les choses à quoi ils s’adonnèrent, tellement qu’une plaie fit brèche sur eux.
30Mais Phinées se présenta, et fit justice ; et la plaie fut arrêtée.
31Et cela lui a été alloué pour justice dans tous les âges à jamais.
32Ils excitèrent aussi sa colère près des eaux de Mériba, et il en avint du mal à Moïse à cause d’eux.
33Car ils chagrinèrent son esprit, et il parla légèrement de ses lèvres.
34Ils n’ont point détruit les peuples que l’Eternel leur avait dit ;
35Mais ils se sont mêlés parmi ces nations, et ils ont appris leurs manières de faire ;
36Et ont servi à leurs faux dieux, lesquels leur ont été en pièges.
37Car ils ont sacrifié leurs fils et leurs filles aux démons.
38Et ils ont répandu le sang innocent, le sang de leurs fils et de leurs filles, lesquels ils ont sacrifiés aux faux dieux de Canaan ; et le pays a été souillé de sang.
39Et ils ont été souillés par leurs oeuvres, et ont paillardé par les choses à quoi ils se sont adonnés.
40C’est pourquoi la colère de l’Eternel s’est embrasée contre son peuple, et il a eu en abomination son héritage.
41Et il les a livrés entre les mains des nations, et ceux qui les haïssaient, ont dominé sur eux.
42Et leurs ennemis les ont opprimés, et ils ont été humiliés sous leur main.
43Il les a souvent délivrés, mais ils l’ont irrité par leur conseil, et ils ont été mis en langueur par leur iniquité.
44Toutefois il les a regardés dans leur détresse, quand il entendait leur clameur.
45Et il s’est souvenu en leur faveur de son alliance, et s’est repenti selon la grandeur de ses compassions.
46Et il a fait que ceux qui les avaient emmenés captifs, ont eu pitié d’eux.
47Eternel notre Dieu, délivre-nous et nous recueille d’entre les nations, afin que nous célébrions le Nom de ta sainteté, et que nous nous glorifiions en ta louange.
48Béni soit l’Eternel, le Dieu d’Israël, depuis un siècle jusqu’à l’autre siècle ! et que tout le peuple dise, Amen ! Louez l’Eternel.

1ALELUYA. Alabad á Jehová, porque es bueno; porque para siempre es su misericordia.
2¿Quién expresará las valentías de Jehová? ¿quién contará sus alabanzas?
3Dichosos los que guardan juicio, los que hacen justicia en todo tiempo.
4Acuérdate de mí, oh Jehová, según tu benevolencia para con tu pueblo: visítame con tu salud;
5Para que yo vea el bien de tus escogidos, para que me goce en la alegría de tu gente, y me gloríe con tu heredad.
6Pecamos con nuestros padres, hicimos iniquidad, hicimos impiedad.
7Nuestros padres en Egipto no entendieron tus maravillas; no se acordaron de la muchedumbre de tus misericordias; sino que se rebelaron junto á la mar, en el mar Bermejo.
8Salvólos empero por amor de su nombre, para hacer notoria su fortaleza.
9Y reprendió al mar Bermejo, y secólo; é hízoles ir por el abismo, como por un desierto.
10Y salvólos de mano del enemigo, y rescatólos de mano del adversario.
11Y cubrieron las aguas á sus enemigos: no quedó uno de ellos.
12Entonces creyeron á sus palabras, y cantaron su alabanza.
13Apresuráronse, olvidáronse de sus obras; no esperaron en su consejo.
14Y desearon con ansia en el desierto; y tentaron á Dios en la soledad.
15Y él les dió lo que pidieron; mas envió flaqueza en sus almas.
16Tomaron después celo contra Moisés en el campo, y contra Aarón el santo de Jehová.
17Abrióse la tierra, y tragó á Dathán, y cubrió la compañía de Abiram.
18Y encendióse el fuego en su junta; la llama quemó los impíos.
19Hicieron becerro en Horeb, y encorváronse á un vaciadizo.
20Así trocaron su gloria por la imagen de un buey que come hierba.
21Olvidaron al Dios de su salud, que había hecho grandezas en Egipto;
22Maravillas en la tierra de Châm, cosas formidables sobre el mar Bermejo.
23Y trató de destruirlos, á no haberse puesto Moisés su escogido al portillo delante de él, á fin de apartar su ira, para que no los destruyese.
24Empero aborrecieron la tierra deseable: no creyeron á su palabra;
25Antes murmuraron en sus tiendas, y no oyeron la voz de Jehová.
26Por lo que alzó su mano á ellos, en orden á postrarlos en el desierto,
27Y humillar su simiente entre las gentes, y esparcirlos por las tierras.
28Allegáronse asimismo á Baal-peor, y comieron los sacrificios de los muertos.
29Y ensañaron á Dios con sus obras, y desarrollóse la mortandad en ellos.
30Entonces se levantó Phinees, é hizo juicio; y se detuvo la plaga.
31Y fuéle contado á justicia de generación en generación para siempre.
32También le irritaron en las aguas de Meriba: é hizo mal á Moisés por causa de ellos;
33Porque hicieron se rebelase su espíritu, como lo expresó con sus labios.
34No destruyeron los pueblos que Jehová les dijo;
35Antes se mezclaron con las gentes, y aprendieron sus obras,
36Y sirvieron á sus ídolos; los cuales les fueron por ruina.
37Y sacrificaron sus hijos y sus hijas á los demonios;
38Y derramaron la sangre inocente, la sangre de sus hijos y de sus hijas, que sacrificaron á los ídolos de Canaán: y la tierra fué contaminada con sangre.
39Contamináronse así con sus obras, y fornicaron con sus hechos.
40Encendióse por tanto el furor de Jehová sobre su pueblo, y abominó su heredad:
41Y entrególos en poder de las gentes, y enseñoreáronse de ellos los que los aborrecían.
42Y sus enemigos los oprimieron, y fueron quebrantados debajo de su mano.
43Muchas veces los libró; mas ellos se rebelaron á su consejo, y fueron humillados por su maldad.
44El con todo, miraba cuando estaban en angustia, y oía su clamor:
45Y acordábase de su pacto con ellos, y arrepentíase conforme á la muchedumbre de sus miseraciones.
46Hizo asimismo tuviesen de ellos misericordia todos los que los tenían cautivos.
47Sálvanos, Jehová Dios nuestro, y júntanos de entre las gentes, para que loemos tu santo nombre, para que nos gloriemos en tus alabanzas.
48Bendito Jehová Dios de Israel, desde el siglo y hasta el siglo: y diga todo el pueblo, Amén. Aleluya.

1Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
2Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?
3Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.
4Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;
5That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
6We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
7Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.
8Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
9He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
10And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
12Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
13They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
14But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
15And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
16They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.
17The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
18And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
19They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.
20Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
21They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
22Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.
23Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
24Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:
25But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
26Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:
27To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.
28They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
29Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.
30Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
31And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.
32They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
33Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
34They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
35But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
36And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
37Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
38And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
39Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
40Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
41And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
42Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
43Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.
44Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
45And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
46He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.
47Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.
48Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.
