1Die Weisheit! Ruft sie nicht? Und Einsicht läßt sich hören
2am Weg ganz oben auf den Höhen; an Scheidewegen tritt sie auf.
3Beim Eingang in die Stadt, an ihren Toren, am Eingang zu den Pforten ruft sie aus:
4"Zu euch, ihr Männer, rede ich; ich spreche zu den Menschenkindern:
5Ihr Einfältigen, lernet Klugheit! Ihr Toren, kommet zur Vernunft!
6Hört zu! Denn ich will Rechtes reden, und meiner Rede Inhalt ist, was richtig.
7Denn Redlichkeit nur spricht mein Gaumen; für meine Lippen ist Unehrlichkeit ein Greuel.
8Rechtschaffen ist, was immer spricht mein Mund, nichts Hinterlistiges, nichts Falsches ist darin,
9das Richtige für alle, die da fragen, und recht für die, die suchen nach Erkenntnis.
10Nimm meine Mahnung lieber an als Silber, Erkenntnis lieber als erlesenes Gold. -
11Denn besser noch als Perlen ist die Weisheit; und Kostbarkeiten kommen ihr nicht gleich."
12"Ich, Weisheit, hab zur Nachbarin die Klugheit; ich kann zu klugem Wissen kommen.
13Die Furcht des Herrn verträgt sich nicht mit Bösem. Ich hasse Hochmut, Hoffart, schlimmen Wandel sowie verkehrtes Reden.
14Mein ist der Rat, die Tüchtigkeit; Einsicht ist mein und mein die Stärke.
15Durch mich regieren Könige, und Fürsten herrschen, wie es rechtens ist.
16Durch mich befehlen Herrschende und all die hohen Erdenrichter.
17Wer mich liebt, den liebe ich; mich finden, die mich suchen,
18Reichtum und Ehre sind bei mir, ein stattlich Gut und Wohlergehen.
19Weit besser noch als Gold, als feines Gold, ist meine Frucht, und mein Ertrag ist kostbarer als auserlesen Silber.
20Ich wandle auf dem Pfade der Gerechtigkeit und mitten auf des Rechtes Wegen.
21Ich gebe denen, die mich lieben, immerdar Besitz und fülle ihre Schatzkammern."
22Mich schuf der Herr als Anfang seiner Laufbahn, als erstes seiner Werke,
23in der Urzeit. Von Ewigkeit her bin ich eingesetzt, im Anfang seit dem Weltbeginne.
24Die Ozeane waren nicht, da ward ich schon geboren, als es noch keine reichen Wasserquellen gab.
25Bevor die Berge eingesenkt, da war ich vor den Hügeln schon geboren.
26Er hatte Land und Flur noch nicht gemacht, noch nicht das Element des Staubes in der Welt,
27da war ich schon dabei, als er den Himmel hergestellt, als er die Wölbung überm Ozean festsetzte,
28als er die Wolken droben mächtig machte, und als des Ozeanes Fluten mächtig wurden,
29als er dem Meere seine Schranke setzte, daß die Gewässer sein Geheiß nicht überschritten, als er der Erde Gründe legte.
30Zur Seite war ich ihm als Schülerin und diente zur Ergötzung Tag für Tag und spielte vor ihm jede Zeit
31und spielte auf dem Erdkreis, den ich liebte, und zur Ergötzung diente ich den Menschenkindern."
32"Nun, meine Söhne, hört auf mich! Heil denen, die meine Wege wählen!
33Auf Mahnung hört, auf daß ihr weise werdet! Schlagt sie nicht in den Wind!
34Heil sei den Menschen, die mich hören und Tag für Tag an meinen Türen wachen und meiner Tore Pfosten hüten!
35Denn wer mich findet, findet Leben, und von dem Herrn empfängt er alles Nötige.
36Wer aber mich verfehlt, der frevelt gegen seine eigene Seele; ja alle, die mich hassen, lieben nur den Tod."

1¿NO clama la sabiduría, y da su voz la inteligencia?
2En los altos cabezos, junto al camino, á las encrucijadas de las veredas se para;
3En el lugar de las puertas, á la entrada de la ciudad, á la entrada de las puertas da voces:
4Oh hombres, á vosotros clamo; y mi voz es á los hijos de los hombres.
5Entended, simples, discreción; y vosotros, locos, entrad en cordura.
6Oid, porque hablaré cosas excelentes; y abriré mis labios para cosas rectas.
7Porque mi boca hablará verdad, y la impiedad abominan mis labios.
8En justicia son todas las razones de mi boca; no hay en ellas cosa perversa ni torcida.
9Todas ellas son rectas al que entiende, y razonables á los que han hallado sabiduría.
10Recibid mi enseñanza, y no plata; y ciencia antes que el oro escogido.
11Porque mejor es la sabiduría que las piedras preciosas; y todas las cosas que se pueden desear, no son de comparar con ella.
12Yo, la sabiduría, habito con la discreción, y hallo la ciencia de los consejos.
13El temor de Jehová es aborrecer el mal; la soberbia y la arrogancia, y el mal camino y la boca perversa, aborrezco.
14Conmigo está el consejo y el ser; yo soy la inteligencia; mía es la fortaleza.
15Por mí reinan los reyes, y los príncipes determinan justicia.
16Por mí dominan los príncipes, y todos los gobernadores juzgan la tierra.
17Yo amo á los que me aman; y me hallan los que madrugando me buscan.
18Las riquezas y la honra están conmigo; sólidas riquezas, y justicia.
19Mejor es mi fruto que el oro, y que el oro refinado; y mi rédito mejor que la plata escogida.
20Por vereda de justicia guiaré, por en medio de sendas de juicio;
21Para hacer heredar á mis amigos el ser, y que yo hincha sus tesoros.
22Jehová me poseía en el principio de su camino, ya de antiguo, antes de sus obras.
23Eternalmente tuve el principado, desde el principio, antes de la tierra.
24Antes de los abismos fuí engendrada; antes que fuesen las fuentes de las muchas aguas.
25Antes que los montes fuesen fundados, antes de los collados, era yo engendrada:
26No había aún hecho la tierra, ni las campiñas, ni el principio del polvo del mundo.
27Cuando formaba los cielos, allí estaba yo; cuando señalaba por compás la sobrefaz del abismo;
28Cuando afirmaba los cielos arriba, cuando afirmaba las fuentes del abismo;
29Cuando ponía á la mar su estatuto, y á las aguas, que no pasasen su mandamiento; cuando establecía los fundamentos de la tierra;
30Con él estaba yo ordenándolo todo; y fuí su delicia todos los días, teniendo solaz delante de él en todo tiempo.
31Huélgome en la parte habitable de su tierra; y mis delicias son con los hijos de los hombres.
32Ahora pues, hijos, oidme; y bienaventurados los que guardaren mis caminos.
33Atended el consejo, y sed sabios, y no lo menospreciéis.
34Bienaventurado el hombre que me oye, velando á mis puertas cada día, guardando los umbrales de mis entradas.
35Porque el que me hallare, hallará la vida, y alcanzará el favor de Jehová.
36Mas el que peca contra mí, defrauda su alma: todos los que me aborrecen, aman la muerte.

1Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
2She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.
3She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.
4Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.
5O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
6Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
7For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
9They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
10Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
11For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
12I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
13The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
14Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
15By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
16By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
17I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
18Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.
19My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.
20I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
21That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.
22The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
23I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
24When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
25Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
26While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
27When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
28When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
29When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
30Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
31Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.
32Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.
33Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
34Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
35For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
36But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

1Doesn’t wisdom cry out? Doesn’t understanding raise her voice?
2On the top of high places by the way, where the paths meet, she stands.
3Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entry doors, she cries aloud:
4“I call to you men! I send my voice to the sons of mankind.
5You simple, understand prudence! You fools, be of an understanding heart!
6Hear, for I will speak excellent things. The opening of my lips is for right things.
7For my mouth speaks truth. Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8All the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.
9They are all plain to him who understands, right to those who find knowledge.
10Receive my instruction rather than silver, knowledge rather than choice gold.
11For wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired can’t be compared to it.
12“I, wisdom, have made prudence my dwelling. Find out knowledge and discretion.
13The fear of the LORD is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.
14Counsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power.
15By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
16By me princes rule, nobles, and all the righteous rulers of the earth.
17I love those who love me. Those who seek me diligently will find me.
18With me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity.
19My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, my yield than choice silver.
20I walk in the way of righteousness, in the middle of the paths of justice,
21that I may give wealth to those who love me. I fill their treasuries.
22“The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his work, before his deeds of old.
23I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed.
24When there were no depths, I was born, when there were no springs abounding with water.
25Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was born;
26while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world.
27When he established the heavens, I was there. When he set a circle on the surface of the deep,
28when he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong,
29when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth,
30then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him,
31rejoicing in his whole world. My delight was with the sons of men.
32“Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways.
33Hear instruction, and be wise. Don’t refuse it.
34Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my door posts.
35For whoever finds me finds life, and will obtain favor from the LORD.
36But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul. All those who hate me love death.”
