1Escutai, filhos, a instrução do pai, e prestai atenção; assim conhecereis o que é o entendimento.
2Estou vos dando boas instruções; não abandoneis o meu ensino.
3Quando eu era o menino do meu pai, o tenro e único filho da minha mãe,
4ele me ensinava e me dizia: "Que teu coração se agarre em minhas palavras; guarda meus mandamentos e vive.
5Adquire sabedoria e entendimento; não te esqueças nem rejeites as palavras de minha boca;
6não abandones a sabedoria, e ela te protegerá; ama-a, e ela te manterá em segurança.
7A sabedoria é a coisa mais importante. Portanto, adquire sabedoria e usa tudo o que possuis para adquirir o entendimento.
8Valoriza a sabedoria e ela te exaltará; ela te honrará quando tu a abraçares.
9Ela colocará uma coroa de honra em tua cabeça; ela te dará um diadema de glória".
10Ouve, meu filho, e presta atenção às minhas palavras, e tu terás muitos anos de vida.
11Eu te conduzi no caminho da sabedoria; eu te guiei pelos caminhos justos.
12Quando andares, ninguém impedirá os teus caminhos, e, se correres, tu não tropeçarás.
13Apega-te à instrução, não a soltes; guarda-a, pois ela é a tua vida.
14Não sigas a vereda dos perversos e não andes pelo caminho dos que fazem o mal.
15Evita-o, não passes por ele; afasta-te dele e vai por outro caminho.
16Pois eles não conseguem dormir até que façam o mal, e seu sono é roubado até que façam alguém tropeçar.
17Pois eles comem o pão da maldade e bebem o vinho da violência.
18Mas a vereda dos justos é como a primeira luz do dia, que tem brilho crescente; ela brilha mais e mais até que a plenitude do dia chegue.
19O caminho dos perversos é como a escuridão; eles não sabem em que tropeçam.
20Meu filho, presta atenção às minhas palavras; inclina o teu ouvido aos meus dizeres.
21Que eles não se afastem de teus olhos; guarda-os em teu coração.
22Pois as minhas palavras são vida para aqueles que as encontram e saúde para o seu corpo inteiro.
23Mantém o teu coração seguro e guarda-o com toda a diligência, porque dele fluem as fontes da vida.
24Remove de ti as palavras falsas e afasta de ti a fala perversa.
25Que os teus olhos olhem para frente e fixa o teu olhar no que está diante de ti.
26Faz um trajeto reto para os teus pés; então, todos os teus caminhos estarão seguros.
27Não te desvies nem para a direita nem para a esquerda; afasta os teus pés do mal.

1OID, hijos, la doctrina de un padre, y estad atentos para que conozcáis cordura.
2Porque os doy buena enseñanza; no desamparéis mi ley.
3Porque yo fuí hijo de mi padre, delicado y único delante de mi madre.
4Y él me enseñaba, y me decía: Mantenga tu corazón mis razones, guarda mis mandamientos, y vivirás:
5Adquiere sabiduría, adquiere inteligencia; no te olvides ni te apartes de las razones de mi boca;
6No la dejes, y ella te guardará; ámala, y te conservará.
7Sabiduría ante todo: adquiere sabiduría: y ante toda tu posesión adquiere inteligencia.
8Engrandécela, y ella te engrandecerá: ella te honrará, cuando tú la hubieres abrazado.
9Adorno de gracia dará á tu cabeza: corona de hermosura te entregará.
10Oye, hijo mío, y recibe mis razones; y se te multiplicarán años de vida.
11Por el camino de la sabiduría te he encaminado, y por veredas derechas te he hecho andar.
12Cuando anduvieres no se estrecharán tus pasos; y si corrieres, no tropezarás.
13Ten el consejo, no lo dejes; guárdalo, porque eso es tu vida.
14No entres por la vereda de los impíos, ni vayas por el camino de los malos.
15Desampárala, no pases por ella; apártate de ella, pasa.
16Porque no duermen ellos, si no hicieren mal; y pierden su sueño, si no han hecho caer.
17Porque comen pan de maldad, y beben vino de robos.
18Mas la senda de los justos es como la luz de la aurora, que va en aumento hasta que el día es perfecto.
19El camino de los impíos es como la oscuridad: no saben en qué tropiezan.
20Hijo mío, está atento á mis palabras; inclina tu oído á mis razones.
21No se aparten de tus ojos; guárdalas en medio de tu corazón.
22Porque son vida á los que las hallan, y medicina á toda su carne.
23Sobre toda cosa guardada guarda tu corazón; porque de él mana la vida.
24Aparta de ti la perversidad de la boca, y aleja de ti la iniquidad de labios.
25Tus ojos miren lo recto, y tus párpados en derechura delante de ti.
26Examina la senda de tus pies, y todos tus caminos sean ordenados.
27No te apartes á diestra, ni á siniestra: aparta tu pie del mal.

1Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
2For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
3For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
4He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
5Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
9She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
10Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
11I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
12When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
14Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
15Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
16For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
17For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
18But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
19The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
20My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
23Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
24Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
25Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
27Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
World English Bible
1Listen, sons, to a father’s instruction. Pay attention and know understanding;
2for I give you sound learning. Don’t forsake my law.
3For I was a son to my father, tender and an only child in the sight of my mother.
4He taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain my words. Keep my commandments, and live.
5Get wisdom. Get understanding. Don’t forget, and don’t deviate from the words of my mouth.
6Don’t forsake her, and she will preserve you. Love her, and she will keep you.
7Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.
8Esteem her, and she will exalt you. She will bring you to honor when you embrace her.
9She will give to your head a garland of grace. She will deliver a crown of splendor to you.”
10Listen, my son, and receive my sayings. The years of your life will be many.
11I have taught you in the way of wisdom. I have led you in straight paths.
12When you go, your steps will not be hampered. When you run, you will not stumble.
13Take firm hold of instruction. Don’t let her go. Keep her, for she is your life.
14Don’t enter into the path of the wicked. Don’t walk in the way of evil men.
15Avoid it, and don’t pass by it. Turn from it, and pass on.
16For they don’t sleep unless they do evil. Their sleep is taken away, unless they make someone fall.
17For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.
18But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light that shines more and more until the perfect day.
19The way of the wicked is like darkness. They don’t know what they stumble over.
20My son, attend to my words. Turn your ear to my sayings.
21Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the center of your heart.
22For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body.
23Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.
24Put away from yourself a perverse mouth. Put corrupt lips far from you.
25Let your eyes look straight ahead. Fix your gaze directly before you.
26Make the path of your feet level. Let all of your ways be established.
27Don’t turn to the right hand nor to the left. Remove your foot from evil.
