HIJO mío, si tomares mis palabras, y mis mandamientos guardares dentro de ti,
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you,
und lauscht dein Ohr auf Weisheit und neigt dein Herz sich zur Vernunft
Haciendo estar atento tu oído á la sabiduría; si inclinares tu corazón á la prudencia;
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
so as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding;
und rufst nach Einsicht du und schreist du nach Verstand
Si clamares á la inteligencia, y á la prudencia dieres tu voz;
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
yes, if you call out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding;
und suchst du sie wie Silber und spürst ihr nach gleich wie verborgnen Schätzen,
Si como á la plata la buscares, y la escudriñares como á tesoros;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures;
alsdann begreifst auch du die Furcht des Herrn, gewinnst Erkenntnis Gottes,
Entonces entenderás el temor de Jehová, y hallarás el conocimiento de Dios.
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

daß Weisheit nur der Herr verleiht, aus seinem Mund Erkenntnis und Vernunft herrühren,
Porque Jehová da la sabiduría, y de su boca viene el conocimiento y la inteligencia.
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

und daß er guten Rat für Rechtliche aufspart, ein Schild ist denen, die unsträflich wandeln,
El provee de sólida sabiduría á los rectos: es escudo á los que caminan rectamente.
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
die von des Rechtes Bahnen nicht abweichen, jedoch die Wege seiner Frommen gehen, -
Es el que guarda las veredas del juicio, y preserva el camino de sus santos.
He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

alsdann wirst du Gerechtigkeit und Recht verstehen, Geradheit, jede Bahn des Guten,
Entonces entenderás justicia, juicio, y equidad, y todo buen camino.
Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

denn Weisheit kommt dir in das Herz und die Erkenntnis weilt in deiner Seele.
Cuando la sabiduría entrare en tu corazón, y la ciencia fuere dulce á tu alma,
When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
For wisdom will enter into your heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Dann ist die Umsicht dir ein Schutz; Vernunft ist deine Hüterin.
El consejo te guardará, te preservará la inteligencia:
Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
Discretion will watch over you. Understanding will keep you,
Sie rettet dich vor schlimmen Schurken, vor Lügenrednern,
Para librarte del mal camino, de los hombres que hablan perversidades;
To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things,
die von des Lichtes Pfaden lassen und auf dem Weg des Finstern wandeln, -
Que dejan las veredas derechas, por andar en caminos tenebrosos;
Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness,
die freudig Böses tun und ob dem Untergang des Nächsten jubeln, -
Que se alegran haciendo mal, que se huelgan en las perversidades del vicio;
Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil,
vor Leuten, deren Pfade krumm und deren Bahnen ganz verkehrt.
Cuyas veredas son torcidas, y torcidos sus caminos.
Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

Sie rettet dich vor andern Weibern, vor einer Fremden voller Schmeichelreden,
Para librarte de la mujer extraña, de la ajena que halaga con sus palabras;
To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
to deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words,
die den Vertrauten ihrer Jugend läßt und den vor ihrem Gott geschlossenen Bund vergißt.
Que desampara el príncipe de su mocedad, y se olvida del pacto de su Dios.
Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

Dem Tode nahe steht ihr Haus, und zu den Schatten führen ihre Bahnen.
Por lo cual su casa está inclinada á la muerte, y sus veredas hacia los muertos:
For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
for her house leads down to death, her paths to the departed spirits.
Wer zu ihr eingeht, kehrt nicht wieder; betritt niemals des Lebens Pfade.
Todos los que á ella entraren, no volverán, ni tomarán las veredas de la vida.
None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.
None who go to her return again, neither do they attain to the paths of life.
Dann kannst du auf dem Weg der Guten wandeln und an der Frommen Pfad dich halten.
Para que andes por el camino de los buenos, y guardes las veredas de los justos.
That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

Denn nur wer recht tut, darf im Lande wohnen; nur wer untadelig, drin übrigbleiben.
Porque los rectos habitarán la tierra, y los perfectos permanecerán en ella;
For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

Die Schlechten aber werden aus dem Land vertilgt und die Betrüger aus ihm ausgerissen.
Mas los impíos serán cortados de la tierra, y los prevaricadores serán de ella desarraigados.
But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
