1Der Frevler flieht, obschon ihm niemand auf den Fersen. Doch wie ein junger Löwe, der sich sicher fühlt, so ist der Fromme.
2Die Sünde eines Landes schafft ihm viele Herrscher; durch einen Klugen, der das Richtige versteht, wird lange Dauer.
3Ein Mann, der reich, jedoch Geringe unterdrückt, ist wie ein Regen, der nur wegschwemmt, aber kein Getreide schafft.
4Die das Gesetz mißachten, rühmen einen Frevler; doch die Gesetzestreuen eifern gegen ihn.
5Die schlimmen Leute denken nicht an das Gericht; doch die den Herren suchen, achten drauf in jeder Weise.
6Viel besser ist ein Armer, der in seiner Unschuld lebt, als wer verkehrte Wege geht und dabei reich ist.
7Wer das Gesetz beachtet, ist ein kluger Sohn. Wer's mit den Liederlichen hält, macht seinem Vater Schande.
8Wer sein Vermögen mehrt durch Zins und Wucher, der sammelt es für den, der sich der Elenden erbarmt.
9Wer da sein Ohr wegwendet, weil er das Gesetz nicht hören will, selbst sein Gebet ist Gott ein Greuel.
10Wer Leute, die den rechten Weg beschritten, auf schlimmen Irrweg führt, der fällt in seine Grube; die Frommen erben Gutes.
11Ein reicher Mann hält sich für weise; doch ihn durchschaut ein kluger Bettelmann.
12Erlangen Fromme hohe Stellung, dann zeigt sich vielfach Luxus; gelangen Ungerechte an die Macht, durchsucht man wiederum die Leute.
13Wer seine Missetaten zu verbergen sucht, der hat kein Glück damit; wer sie bekennt und läßt, der wird Erbarmen finden.
14Heil sei dem Menschen, der stets auf der Hut! Doch wer sein Herz verhärtet, fällt in Unglück.
15Ein Leu, der brüllt, ein Bär mit aufgesperrtem Rachen: so ist ein schlimmer Herrscher über ein geringes Volk!
16Ein Fürst zeigt sich beschränkt, begeht er viel Erpressungen; wer ungerechtes Gut nicht mag, der hat ein langes Leben.
17Ein Mensch mit Blutschuld auf der Seele eilt zur Grube. Halt ihn nicht!
18Wer in der Unschuld wandelt, wird gerettet; wer auf verkehrten Wegen wandelt, fällt auf einmal hin.
19Wer seinen Acker baut, hat Brot in Fülle; doch wer nichtigen Dingen nachjagt, hat in Fülle Armut.
20Ein Mann mit Zähigkeit wird reich gesegnet; wer aber eilt, sich zu bereichern, bleibt nie ohne Schaden.
21Parteilichkeit ein übel Ding! Schon wegen eines Bissens Brot kann sich ein Mensch versündigen.
22Wer Mißgunst hegt, der will in Eile sich bereichern und weiß nicht, daß auch über ihn der Mangel kommen kann.
23Wer einen Menschen tadelt, der kann hinterher mehr Dank empfangen als der glatte Schmeichler.
24Wer seine Eltern ausraubt mit den Worten: "Dies ist doch keine Sünde", der ist ein Spießgesell von Mordbuben.
25Habgier weckt Unzufriedenheit; wer auf den Herrn vertraut, wird reich gelabt.
26Wer seinem eigenen Verstand vertraut, der ist ein Tor; wer aber der Erfahrung folgt, der kommt davon.
27Wer Armen gibt, der leidet keinen Mangel; wer aber seinen Blick verhüllt, wird viel verflucht.
28Gelangen Ungerechte je zur Macht, verbirgt sich jedermann; verschwinden sie, gelangen Fromme an die Macht.

1HUYE el impío sin que nadie lo persiga: mas el justo está confiado como un leoncillo.
2Por la rebelión de la tierra sus príncipes son muchos: mas por el hombre entendido y sabio permanecerá sin mutación.
3El hombre pobre y robador de los pobres, es lluvia de avenida y sin pan.
4Los que dejan la ley, alaban á los impíos: mas los que la guardan, contenderán con ellos.
5Los hombres malos no entienden el juicio: mas los que buscan á Jehová, entienden todas las cosas.
6Mejor es el pobre que camina en su integridad, que el de perversos caminos, y rico.
7El que guarda la ley es hijo prudente: mas el que es compañero de glotones, avergüenza á su padre.
8El que aumenta sus riquezas con usura y crecido interés, para que se dé á los pobres lo allega.
9El que aparta su oído para no oir la ley, su oración también es abominable.
10El que hace errar á los rectos por el mal camino, él caerá en su misma sima: mas los perfectos heredarán el bien.
11El hombre rico es sabio en su opinión: mas el pobre entendido lo examinará.
12Cuando los justos se alegran, grande es la gloria; mas cuando los impíos son levantados, es buscado el hombre.
13El que encubre sus pecados, no prosperará: mas el que los confiesa y se aparta, alcanzará misericordia.
14Bienaventurado el hombre que siempre está temeroso: mas el que endurece su corazón, caerá en mal.
15León rugiente y oso hambriento, es el príncipe impío sobre el pueblo pobre.
16El príncipe falto de entendimiento multiplicará los agravios: mas el que aborrece la avaricia, prolongará sus días.
17El hombre que hace violencia con sangre de persona, huirá hasta el sepulcro, y nadie le detendrá.
18El que en integridad camina, será salvo; mas el de perversos caminos caerá en alguno.
19El que labra su tierra, se hartará de pan: mas el que sigue los ociosos, se hartará de pobreza.
20El hombre de verdad tendrá muchas bendiciones: mas el que se apresura á enriquecer, no será sin culpa.
21Tener acepción de personas, no es bueno: hasta por un bocado de pan prevaricará el hombre.
22Apresúrase á ser rico el hombre de mal ojo; y no conoce que le ha de venir pobreza.
23El que reprende al hombre, hallará después mayor gracia que el que lisonjea con la lengua.
24El que roba á su padre ó á su madre, y dice que no es maldad, compañero es del hombre destruidor.
25El altivo de ánimo suscita contiendas: mas el que en Jehová confía, medrará.
26El que confía en su corazón es necio; mas el que camina en sabiduría, será salvo.
27El que da al pobre, no tendrá pobreza: mas el que aparta sus ojos, tendrá muchas maldiciones.
28Cuando los impíos son levantados, esconderáse el hombre: mas cuando perecen, los justos se multiplican.

1The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
2For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.
3A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
4They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
5Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
6Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
7Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.
8He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
9He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
10Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.
11The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
12When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.
13He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
14Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
15As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.
16The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.
17A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.
18Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
19He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

21To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

8He who increases his wealth by excessive interest gathers it for one who has pity on the poor.

14Blessed is the man who always fears; but one who hardens his heart falls into trouble.
15As a roaring lion or a charging bear, so is a wicked ruler over helpless people.
16A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment. One who hates ill-gotten gain will have long days.
17A man who is tormented by blood guilt will be a fugitive until death. No one will support him.
18Whoever walks blamelessly is kept safe; but one with perverse ways will fall suddenly.
19One who works his land will have an abundance of food; but one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
20A faithful man is rich with blessings; but one who is eager to be rich will not go unpunished.
21To show partiality is not good, yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.
22A stingy man hurries after riches, and doesn’t know that poverty waits for him.
23One who rebukes a man will afterward find more favor than one who flatters with the tongue.
24Whoever robs his father or his mother and says, “It’s not wrong,” is a partner with a destroyer.
25One who is greedy stirs up strife; but one who trusts in the LORD will prosper.
26One who trusts in himself is a fool; but one who walks in wisdom is kept safe.
