Proverbios 24

1Ne porte point d’envie aux hommes malins, et ne désire point d’être avec eux.
2Car leur coeur pense à piller, et leurs lèvres parlent de nuire.
3La maison sera bâtie par la sagesse, et sera affermie par l’intelligence.
4Et par la science les cabinets seront remplis de tous les biens précieux et agréables.
5L’homme sage est accompagné de force, et l’homme qui a de l’intelligence renforce la puissance.
6Car par la prudence tu feras la guerre avantageusement, et la délivrance consiste dans le nombre des conseillers.
7Il n’y a point de sagesse qui ne soit trop haute pour le fou ; il n’ouvrira point sa bouche à la porte.
8Celui qui pense à faire mal, on l’appellera, Songe-malice.
9Le discours de la folie n’est que péché, et le moqueur est en abomination à l’homme.
10Si tu as perdu courage dans la calamité, ta force s’est diminuée.
11Si tu te retiens pour ne délivrer point ceux qui sont traînés à la mort, et qui sont sur le point d’être tués,
12Parce que tu diras : Voici, nous n’en avons rien su ; celui qui pèse les coeurs ne l’entendra-t-il point ? et celui qui garde ton âme, ne le saura-t-il point ? et ne rendra-t-il point à chacun selon son oeuvre ?
13Mon fils, mange le miel, car il est bon ; et le rayon de miel, car il est doux à ton palais.
14Ainsi sera à ton âme la connaissance de la sagesse, quand tu l’auras trouvée ; et il y aura une bonne issue, et ton attente ne sera point retranchée.
15Méchant, n’épie point le domicile du juste, et ne détruis point son gîte.
16Car le juste tombera sept fois, et sera relevé ; mais les méchants tombent dans le mal.
17Quand ton ennemi sera tombé, ne t’en réjouis point ; et quand il sera renversé, que ton coeur ne s’en égaye point ;
18De peur que l’Eternel ne le voie, et que cela ne lui déplaise, tellement qu’il détourne de dessus lui sa colère sur toi.
19Ne te dépite point à cause des gens malins ; ne porte point d’envie aux méchants ;
20Car il n’y aura point de bonne issue pour le méchant, et la lampe des méchants sera éteinte.
21Mon fils, crains l’Eternel, et le Roi ; et ne te mêle point avec des gens remuants.
22Car leur calamité s’élèvera tout d’un coup ; et qui sait l’inconvénient qui arrivera à ces deux-là ?
23Ces choses aussi sont pour les sages. Il n’est pas bon d’avoir égard à l’apparence des personnes en jugement.
24Celui qui dit au méchant : Tu es juste, les peuples le maudiront, et les nations l’auront en détestation.
25Mais pour ceux qui le reprennent, ils en retireront de la satisfaction, et la bénédiction que les biens accompagnent se répandra sur eux.
26Celui qui répond avec justesse fait plaisir à celui qui l’écoute.
27Range ton ouvrage dehors, et l’apprête au champ qui est à toi, et puis bâtis ta maison.
28Ne sois point témoin contre ton prochain, sans qu’il en soit besoin ; car voudrais-tu t’en faire croire par tes lèvres ?
29Ne dis point : comme il m’a fait, ainsi lui ferai-je ; je rendrai à cet homme selon ce qu’il m’a fait.
30J’ai passé près du champ de l’homme paresseux, et près de la vigne de l’homme dépourvu de sens ;
31Et voilà, tout y était monté en chardons, et les orties avaient couvert le dessus, et sa cloison de pierres était démolie.
32Et ayant vu cela, je le mis dans mon coeur, je le regardai, j’en reçus de l’instruction.
33Un peu de dormir, un peu de sommeil, un peu de ploiement de bras pour demeurer couché,
34Et ta pauvreté viendra comme un passant ; et ta disette, comme un soldat.

1NO tengas envidia de los hombres malos, ni desees estar con ellos:
2Porque su corazón piensa en robar, é iniquidad hablan sus labios.
3Con sabiduría se edificará la casa, y con prudencia se afirmará:
4Y con ciencia se henchirán las cámaras de todo bien preciado y agradable.
5El hombre sabio es fuerte; y de pujante vigor el hombre docto.
6Porque con ingenio harás la guerra: y la salud está en la multitud de consejeros.
7Alta está para el insensato la sabiduría: en la puerta no abrirá él su boca.
8Al que piensa mal hacer le llamarán hombre de malos pensamientos.
9El pensamiento del necio es pecado: y abominación á los hombres el escarnecedor.
10Si fueres flojo en el día de trabajo, tu fuerza será reducida.
11Si dejares de librar los que son tomados para la muerte, y los que son llevados al degolladero;
12Si dijeres: Ciertamente no lo supimos; ¿no lo entenderá el que pesa los corazones? El que mira por tu alma, él lo conocerá, y dará al hombre según sus obras.
13Come, hijo mío, de la miel, porque es buena, y del panal dulce á tu paladar:
14Tal será el conocimiento de la sabiduría á tu alma: si la hallares tendrá recompensa, y al fin tu esperanza no será cortada.
15Oh impío, no aceches la tienda del justo, no saquees su cámara;
16Porque siete veces cae el justo, y se torna á levantar; mas los impíos caerán en el mal.
17Cuando cayere tu enemigo, no te huelgues; y cuando tropezare, no se alegre tu corazón:
18Porque Jehová no lo mire, y le desagrade, y aparte de sobre él su enojo.
19No te entrometas con los malignos, ni tengas envidia de los impíos;
20Porque para el malo no habrá buen fin, y la candela de los impíos será apagada.
21Teme á Jehová, hijo mío, y al rey; no te entrometas con los veleidosos:
22Porque su quebrantamiento se levantará de repente; y el quebrantamiento de ambos, ¿quién lo comprende?
23También estas cosas pertenecen á los sabios. Tener respeto á personas en el juicio no es bueno.
24El que dijere al malo, Justo eres, los pueblos lo maldecirán, y le detestarán las naciones:
25Mas los que lo reprenden, serán agradables, y sobre ellos vendrá bendición de bien.
26Besados serán los labios del que responde palabras rectas.
27Apresta tu obra de afuera, y disponla en tu heredad; y después edificarás tu casa.
28No seas sin causa testigo contra tu prójimo; y no lisonjees con tus labios.
29No digas: Como me hizo, así le haré; daré el pago al hombre según su obra.
30Pasé junto á la heredad del hombre perezoso, y junto á la viña del hombre falto de entendimiento;
31Y he aquí que por toda ella habían ya crecido espinas, ortigas habían ya cubierto su haz, y su cerca de piedra estaba ya destruída.
32Y yo miré, y púselo en mi corazón: vilo, y tomé consejo.
33Un poco de sueño, cabeceando otro poco, poniendo mano sobre mano otro poco para dormir;
34Así vendrá como caminante tu necesidad, y tu pobreza como hombre de escudo.

1Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
2For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
3Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
4And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
5A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
6For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
7Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
8He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
9The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
10If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
11If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
12If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?
13My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:
14So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
15Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
16For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
17Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
18Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;
20For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
21My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
22For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
23These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
24He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
25But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
26Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.
27Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
28Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.
29Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
30I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
32Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.
33Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
34So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

1Don’t be envious of evil men, neither desire to be with them;
2for their hearts plot violence and their lips talk about mischief.
3Through wisdom a house is built; by understanding it is established;
4by knowledge the rooms are filled with all rare and beautiful treasure.
5A wise man has great power. A knowledgeable man increases strength,
6for by wise guidance you wage your war, and victory is in many advisors.
7Wisdom is too high for a fool. He doesn’t open his mouth in the gate.
8One who plots to do evil will be called a schemer.
9The schemes of folly are sin. The mocker is detested by men.
10If you falter in the time of trouble, your strength is small.
11Rescue those who are being led away to death! Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!
12If you say, “Behold, we didn’t know this,” doesn’t he who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, doesn’t he know it? Shall he not give to every man according to his work?
13My son, eat honey, for it is good, the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste;
14so you shall know wisdom to be to your soul. If you have found it, then there will be a reward: Your hope will not be cut off.
15Don’t lay in wait, wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous. Don’t destroy his resting place;
16for a righteous man falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.
17Don’t rejoice when your enemy falls. Don’t let your heart be glad when he is overthrown,
18lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19Don’t fret yourself because of evildoers, neither be envious of the wicked;
20for there will be no reward to the evil man. The lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.
21My son, fear the LORD and the king. Don’t join those who are rebellious,
22for their calamity will rise suddenly. Who knows what destruction may come from them both?
23These also are sayings of the wise: To show partiality in judgment is not good.
24He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,” peoples will curse him, and nations will abhor him—
25but it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and a rich blessing will come on them.
26An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.
27Prepare your work outside, and get your fields ready. Afterwards, build your house.
28Don’t be a witness against your neighbor without cause. Don’t deceive with your lips.
29Don’t say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will repay the man according to his work.”
30I went by the field of the sluggard, by the vineyard of the man void of understanding.
31Behold, it was all grown over with thorns. Its surface was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down.
32Then I saw, and considered well. I saw, and received instruction:
33a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep,
34so your poverty will come as a robber and your want as an armed man.
