Proverbios 21
Biblia Torres Amat
1El corazón del rey está en la mano de Dios, como el agua que se reparte desde un depósito; él inclinará hacia cualquier parte que quisiere.
2Le parecen rectos al hombre todos sus procederes; pero el Señor examina los corazones.
3El ejercitar la misericordia y la justicia, place más al Señor que las víctimas.
4La altanería de los ojos, es efecto de la hinchazón del corazón; el esplendor de los impíos es el fruto del pecado.
5Los pensamientos del hombre activo y diligente siempre traen la abundancia; pero todos los perezosos viven siempre en miseria.
6Quien adquiere tesoros a fuerza de mentir con su lengua, es un tonto e insensato, y caerá en los lazos de la muerte.
7Las rapiñas de los impíos serán su ruina, por no haber querido obrar según justicia.
8El proceder del hombre perverso es desordenado; mas si el hombre es puro o recto, es también recto su proceder.
9Mejor es vivir al descubierto en un rincón del desván, que dentro de la misma casa con una mujer rencillosa.
10Desea el mal el alma del impío; no tendrá compasión de su prójimo.
11Castigado el escandaloso, el párvulo o simple se hará más avisado; y si se arrimare al sabio, aprenderá la ciencia.
12Se pone el justo a discurrir acerca de la casa del impío, para ver cómo podrá retraer del mal a los pecadores.
13Quien cierra sus oídos al clamor del pobre, clamará también y no será oído.
14La dádiva secreta calma los enojos; y el don, metido oportunamente en el seno de otro, aplaca la mayor cólera.
15Halla su gozo el justo en practicar la virtud; pero los que obran la iniquidad, están en continuo susto.
16El hombre que se desviare del camino de la doctrina, irá a morar con los gigantes o condenados.
17Quien gusta de dar banquetes, parará en mendigo; no será jamás rico el aficionado al vino y a los manjares regalados.
18El impío es entregado en expiación del justo; y el hombre perverso, en lugar de los buenos.
19Mas vale morar en un desierto, que con una mujer rencillosa y colérica.
20Hay en la casa del justo un tesoro inestimable; pero el hombre sin juicio lo disipará todo.
21El que ejercita la justicia y la misericordia, hallará vida, justicia y gloria.
22Muchas veces el varón sabio se ha hecho dueño de una ciudad llena de guerreros, y ha destruido las fuerzas en que ella confiaba.
23Guarda de angustias su alma el que guarda su boca y lengua.
24El soberbio y presumido es verdaderamente tonto; pues arrebatado de la cólera comete mil desatinos e insolencias.
25Los deseos consumen al perezoso, pues sus manos no quieren trabajar poco ni mucho.
26Todo el día se le va en apetitos y antojos; el justo sin embargo da a los otros, y no está nunca sin obrar.
27Abominables son las víctimas de los impíos, pues son frutos de iniquidad.
28El testigo falso perecerá; el hombre obediente a la ley cantará la victoria sobre su calumniador.
29El impío descarado no desiste jamás de su intento; pero el hombre de bien corrige sus extravíos.
30Contra el Señor no hay sabiduría, no hay prudencia, no hay consejo que valga.
31Se aparejan los caballos para el día de la batalla; mas quien da la victoria es el Señor.

1COMO los repartimientos de las aguas, así está el corazón del rey en la mano de Jehová: á todo lo que quiere lo inclina.
2Todo camino del hombre es recto en su opinión: mas Jehová pesa los corazones.
3Hacer justicia y juicio es á Jehová más agradable que sacrificio.
4Altivez de ojos, y orgullo de corazón, y el brillo de los impíos, son pecado.
5Los pensamientos del solícito ciertamente van á abundancia; mas todo presuroso, indefectiblemente á pobreza.
6Allegar tesoros con lengua de mentira, es vanidad desatentada de aquellos que buscan la muerte.
7La rapiña de los impíos los destruirá; por cuanto no quisieron hacer juicio.
8El camino del hombre perverso es torcido y extraño: mas la obra del limpio es recta.
9Mejor es vivir en un rincón de zaquizamí, que con la mujer rencillosa en espaciosa casa.
10El alma del impío desea mal: su prójimo no le parece bien.
11Cuando el escarnecedor es castigado, el simple se hace sabio; y cuando se amonestare al sabio, aprenderá ciencia.
12Considera el justo la casa del impío: cómo los impíos son trastornados por el mal.
13El que cierra su oído al clamor del pobre, también él clamará, y no será oído.
14El presente en secreto amansa el furor, y el don en el seno, la fuerte ira.
15Alegría es al justo hacer juicio; mas quebrantamiento á los que hacen iniquidad.
16El hombre que se extravía del camino de la sabiduría, vendrá á parar en la compañía de los muertos.
17Hombre necesitado será el que ama el deleite: y el que ama el vino y ungüentos no enriquecerá.
18El rescate del justo es el impío, y por los rectos el prevaricador.
19Mejor es morar en tierra del desierto, que con la mujer rencillosa é iracunda.
20Tesoro codiciable y pingüe hay en la casa del sabio; mas el hombre insensato lo disipará.
21El que sigue la justicia y la misericordia, hallará la vida, la justicia, y la honra.
22La ciudad de los fuertes tomó el sabio, y derribó la fuerza en que ella confiaba.
23El que guarda su boca y su lengua, su alma guarda de angustias.
24Soberbio y presuntuoso escarnecedor es el nombre del que obra con orgullosa saña.
25El deseo del perezoso le mata, porque sus manos no quieren trabajar.
26Hay quien todo el día codicia: mas el justo da, y no desperdicia.
27El sacrificio de los impíos es abominación: ¡cuánto más ofreciéndolo con maldad!
28El testigo mentiroso perecerá: mas el hombre que oye, permanecerá en su dicho.
29El hombre impío afirma su rostro: mas el recto ordena sus caminos.
30No hay sabiduría, ni inteligencia, ni consejo, contra Jehová.
31El caballo se apareja para el día de la batalla: mas de Jehová es el salvar.

1The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
3To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
5The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
6The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
9It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
11When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
13Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
16The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.
30There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

1The king’s heart is in the LORD’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires.
2Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the hearts.
3To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4A high look and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.
5The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty.
6Getting treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death.
7The violence of the wicked will drive them away, because they refuse to do what is right.
8The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.
9It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop than to share a house with a contentious woman.
10The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.
11When the mocker is punished, the simple gains wisdom. When the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.
12The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked, and brings the wicked to ruin.
13Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard.
14A gift in secret pacifies anger, and a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath.
15It is joy to the righteous to do justice; but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
16The man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall rest in the assembly of the departed spirits.
17He who loves pleasure will be a poor man. He who loves wine and oil won’t be rich.

27The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination— how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!
28A false witness will perish. A man who listens speaks to eternity.
29A wicked man hardens his face; but as for the upright, he establishes his ways.
30There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but victory is with the LORD.
