Parabole di Salomone figliuolo di David, re d'Israele.

LOS proverbios de Salomón, hijo de David, rey de Israel:

Donde apparar la sapienza, e la disciplina,

Para entender sabiduría y doctrina; para conocer las razones prudentes;

To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding;

E intendere gli avvertimenti della prudenza, e abbracciare le istruzioni della dottrina, la giustizia, la rettitudine, e l'equità:

Para recibir el consejo de prudencia, justicia, y juicio y equidad;

To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;

Donde i piccoli si provveggano di sagacità, i giovinetti di sapere, e di intelligenza.

Para dar sagacidad á los simples, y á los jóvenes inteligencia y cordura.

To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man—

Il saggio, che ascolterà, crescerà in sapienza, e colui, che intenderà, starà al timone:

Oirá el sabio, y aumentará el saber; y el entendido adquirirá consejo;

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel;

Comprenderà le parabole, e la loro interpretazione, le parole de' saggi, e i loro enimmi.

Para entender parábola y declaración; palabras de sabios, y sus dichos oscuros.

To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

to understand a proverb and parables, the words and riddles of the wise.

I timor del Signore egli o il principio della sapienza: la sapienza, e la dottrina è disprezzata dagli stolti.

El principio de la sabiduría es el temor de Jehová: los insensatos desprecian la sabiduría y la enseñanza.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.

Ascolta, figliuol mio, i precetti del padre tuo, e non metter da banda le ammonizioni della tua madre:

Oye, hijo mío, la doctrina de tu padre, y no desprecies la dirección de tu madre:

My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching;

Onde tu acquisti corona al tuo capo, e collana al tuo collo.

Porque adorno de gracia serán á tu cabeza, y collares á tu cuello.

For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.

Figliuol mio, se i peccatori ti adescheranno, tu non fare a modo di coloro.

Hijo mío, si los pecadores te quisieren engañar, no consientas.

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

My son, if sinners entice you, don’t consent.

S'ei diranno: Vieni con noi, insidieremo alla vita altrui, nasconderemo i lacci tesi a colui, che inutilmente è senza colpa:

Si dijeren: Ven con nosotros, pongamos asechanzas á la sangre, acechemos sin motivo al inocente;

If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

If they say, “Come with us. Let’s lie in wait for blood. Let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause.

Lo ingoieremo vivo, come fa l'inferno, e tutto intero, come un che cade in un baratro.

Los tragaremos vivos como el sepulcro, y enteros, como los que caen en sima;

Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

Let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit.

Troveremo ricchezze grandi d'ogni maniera, ed empieremo di spoglie le nostre case.

Hallaremos riquezas de todas suertes, henchiremos nuestras casas de despojos;

We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with plunder.

Unisci la sorte tua colla nostra, una sola borsa sarà tra tutti noi.

Echa tu suerte entre nosotros; tengamos todos una bolsa:

Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

You shall cast your lot among us. We’ll all have one purse”—

Figliuol mio, non andar con costoro: tien lungi dalle vie loro i tuoi passi.

Hijo mío, no andes en camino con ellos; aparta tu pie de sus veredas:

My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

my son, don’t walk on the path with them. Keep your foot from their path,

Perocché i loro piedi corrono al male, ed ei si affrettano a spargere il sangue;

Porque sus pies correrán al mal, é irán presurosos á derramar sangre.

For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood.

Ma indarno si tende la rete dinanzi agli occhi dei pennuti augelli:

Porque en vano se tenderá la red ante los ojos de toda ave;

Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

For the net is spread in vain in the sight of any bird;

Costoro di più le insidie tendono alla propria lor vita, e le frodi macchinano contro le anime loro.

Mas ellos á su propia sangre ponen asechanzas, y á sus almas tienden lazo.

And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

but these lay in wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives.

Così le ruberie di tutti gli avari ruban le anime di quelli, che se le appropiano.

Tales son las sendas de todo el que es dado á la codicia, la cual prenderá el alma de sus poseedores.

So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.

La sapienza esce fuora cantando, alza la voce sua nelle piazze,

La sabiduría clama de fuera, da su voz en las plazas:

Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares.

Là, dove si aduna la moltitudine, ella si fa sentire, alle porte (della città) ella espone i suoi documenti, e dice:

Clama en los principales lugares de concurso; en las entradas de las puertas de la ciudad dice sus razones:

She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:

Fino a quando, o fanciulli, amerete voi la fanciullaggine? e ameranno gli stolti quello, che ad essi nuoce? e gli imprudenti avranno in odio la scienza?

¿Hasta cuándo, oh simples, amaréis la simpleza, y los burladores desearán el burlar, y los insensatos aborrecerán la ciencia?

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

“How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?

Volgetevi a udire le mie riprensioni: ecco che io vi comunicherò il mio spirito, e voi farò nota la mia dottrina.

Volveos á mi reprensión: he aquí yo os derramaré mi espíritu, y os haré saber mis palabras.

Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you.

Perché io chiamai, e voi non obbediste, stesi la mano, e nissun vi fece attenzione,

Por cuanto llamé, y no quisisteis; extendí mi mano, y no hubo quien escuchase;

Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;

Disprezzaste tutti i miei consigli, e poneste in non cale le mie riprensioni;

Antes desechasteis todo consejo mío, y mi reprensión no quisisteis:

But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof;

Io pure nella perdizione vostra riderò, e vi schernirò allora quando sopravverrà a voi quello, che temevate.

También yo me reiré en vuestra calamidad, y me burlaré cuando os viniere lo que teméis;

I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you,

Quando improvvisa sciagura vi investirà, e la morte, quasi turbine, vi sorprenderà; quando sopra di voi si getterà la tribolazione, e l'affanno.

Cuando viniere como una destrucción lo que teméis, y vuestra calamidad llegare como un torbellino; cuando sobre vosotros viniere tribulación y angustia.

When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come on you.

Allora costoro mi invocheranno, ed io non gli esaudirò, si alzeranno, solleciti, e non mi troveranno:

Entonces me llamarán, y no responderé; buscarme han de mañana, y no me hallarán:

Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me,

Perocché ebbero in odio la disciplina, e non abbracciarono il timor del Signore.

Por cuanto aborrecieron la sabiduría, y no escogieron el temor de Jehová,

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

because they hated knowledge, and didn’t choose the fear of the LORD.

E non porser le orecchie ai miei consigli, e si fecer beffe di tutte le mie correzioni.

Ni quisieron mi consejo, y menospreciaron toda reprensión mía:

They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.

Mangeranno pertanto i frutti delle opere loro, e si satolleranno de' loro consiglj.

Comerán pues del fruto de su camino, y se hartarán de sus consejos.

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.

La indocilità di questi fanciulli sarà la loro morte, e la prosperità degli stolti li manderà in rovina.

Porque el reposo de los ignorantes los matará, y la prosperidad de los necios los echará á perder.

For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.

Ma chi ascolta me avrà riposo senza paure, e sarà nell'abbondanza scevro dal timore de' mali. Quanti beni porti seco l'acquisto della sapienza, e da quanti mali ella liberi l'uomo: con lei si hanno i doni di Dio, e senza di lei si cade in errori.

Mas el que me oyere, habitará confiadamente, y vivirá reposado, sin temor de mal.

But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”
