3La folie de l'homme souille ses voies, et c'est Dieu qu'il accuse en son cœur.
4Les richesses attirent à l'homme beaucoup d'amis ; au contraire, le pauvre est délaissé même de l'ami qu'il a.
5Le faux témoin ne sera pas impuni ; celui qui appelle à tort en justice en portera la peine.
6Beaucoup se prosternent en face des rois ; tout méchant est pour l'homme un opprobre.
7Celui qui hait son frère pauvre est bien loin de l'amitié ; c'est une bonne pensée qui fait approcher d'elle ceux qui la connaissent, et le sage la trouvera. Avoir fait beaucoup de mal entraîne à faire plus de mal encore ; celui qui use de paroles provocatrices ne sera pas sauvé.
8Celui qui possède la sagesse est ami de soi-même, et celui qui garde la prudence trouvera le bien.
9Le faux témoin ne sera pas impuni ; celui qui attise une méchanceté périra par elle.
10Les délices ne sont pas pour l'insensé ; qu'un serviteur ne se mette pas à commander avec orgueil.
11L'homme miséricordieux est patient ; sa gloire retombe comme la punition sur le pécheur.
12La menace d'un roi est comme le rugissement du lion, et sa sérénité comme une rosée sur une prairie.
13Le fils insensé est la honte de son père ; les vœux qu'une courtisane paye de ses faveurs ne sont pas purs.
14Les pères partagent entre les enfants leur maison et leurs richesses ; mais la femme bien en harmonie avec un homme vient du Seigneur.
15La crainte possède l'efféminé ; l'âme de l'oisif est indigente.
16Garder les commandements, c'est sauver son âme ; se négliger en sa voie, c'est courir à sa perte.
17Celui qui est miséricordieux envers les pauvres prête à usure au Seigneur ; Dieu le rétribuera selon ce qu'il aura donné.
18Corrige ton fils ; c'est ainsi qu'il sera ton espérance. Ne sois pas exalté en ton âme jusqu'à l'orgueil.
19L'homme malveillant sera puni sévèrement ; s'il nuit à autrui, il nuit aussi à son âme.
20Écoute, ô mon fils, les instructions de ton père pour être sage jusqu'à ta dernière heure.
21De nombreuses pensées roulent dans le cœur de l'homme ; le conseil du Seigneur demeure dans tous les siècles.
22La miséricorde est un fruit pour l'homme ; mieux vaut un mendiant juste qu'un riche trompeur.
23La crainte du Seigneur est la vie de l'homme ; celui qui n'a pas cette crainte habitera des lieux où la doctrine est inconnue.
24Celui qui cache ses mains sous son manteau, avec de mauvais desseins, n'aura garde de les porter à sa bouche.
25Les coups qui le flagellent rendent l'insensé plus réfléchi ; mais si l'on reprend le sage, il comprend aussitôt la réprimande.
26Celui qui n'honore pas son père et repousse sa mère sera couvert de honte, et recevra un blâme.
27Le fils qui néglige de garder les instructions de son père tramera de mauvais desseins.
28Celui qui répond pour un jeune insensé outrage la justice ; la bouche des impies dévore l'iniquité.
29Des fouets sont préparés pour les pervers, et des châtiments pour les insensés.

1MEJOR es el pobre que camina en su sencillez, que el de perversos labios y fatuo.
2El alma sin ciencia no es buena; y el presuroso de pies peca.
3La insensatez del hombre tuerce su camino; y contra Jehová se aira su corazón.
4Las riquezas allegan muchos amigos: mas el pobre, de su amigo es apartado.
5El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo; y el que habla mentiras no escapará.
6Muchos rogarán al príncipe: mas cada uno es amigo del hombre que da.
7Todos los hermanos del pobre le aborrecen: ¡cuánto más sus amigos se alejarán de él! buscará la palabra y no la hallará.
8El que posee entendimiento, ama su alma: el que guarda la inteligencia, hallará el bien.
9El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo; y el que habla mentiras, perecerá.
10No conviene al necio el deleite: ¡cuánto menos al siervo ser señor de los príncipes!
11La cordura del hombre detiene su furor; y su honra es disimular la ofensa.
12Como el bramido del cachorro de león es la ira del rey; y su favor como el rocío sobre la hierba.
13Dolor es para su padre el hijo necio; y gotera continua las contiendas de la mujer.
14La casa y las riquezas herencia son de los padres: mas de Jehová la mujer prudente.
15La pereza hace caer en sueño; y el alma negligente hambreará.
16El que guarda el mandamiento, guarda su alma: mas el que menospreciare sus caminos, morirá.
17A Jehová empresta el que da al pobre, y él le dará su paga.
18Castiga á tu hijo en tanto que hay esperanza; mas no se excite tu alma para destruirlo.
19El de grande ira llevará la pena: y si usa de violencias, añadirá nuevos males.
20Escucha el consejo, y recibe la corrección, para que seas sabio en tu vejez.
21Muchos pensamientos hay en el corazón del hombre; mas el consejo de Jehová permanecerá.
22Contentamiento es á los hombres hacer misericordia: pero mejor es el pobre que el mentiroso.
23El temor de Jehová es para vida; y con él vivirá el hombre, lleno de reposo; no será visitado de mal.
24El perezoso esconde su mano en el seno: aun á su boca no la llevará.
25Hiere al escarnecedor, y el simple se hará avisado; y corrigiendo al entendido, entenderá ciencia.
26El que roba á su padre y ahuyenta á su madre, hijo es avergonzador y deshonrador.
27Cesa, hijo mío, de oir la enseñanza que induce á divagar de las razones de sabiduría.
28El testigo perverso se burlará del juicio; y la boca de los impíos encubrirá la iniquidad.
29Aparejados están juicios para los escarnecedores, y azotes para los cuerpos de los insensatos.

1Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
3The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
4Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
5A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
6Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
7All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.
8He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
10Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
13A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
14House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
15Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
17He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
18Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
19A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
20Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
22The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
23The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
24A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
26He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
27Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.
28An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
29Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.

2It isn’t good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty with one’s feet and miss the way.

6Many will entreat the favor of a ruler, and everyone is a friend to a man who gives gifts.

25Flog a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; rebuke one who has understanding, and he will gain knowledge.
26He who robs his father and drives away his mother is a son who causes shame and brings reproach.
27If you stop listening to instruction, my son, you will stray from the words of knowledge.
28A corrupt witness mocks justice, and the mouth of the wicked gulps down iniquity.
29Penalties are prepared for scoffers, and beatings for the backs of fools.
