Proverbios 14
La Sainte Bible (Ostervald)
1Toute femme sage bâtit sa maison; mais la folle la renverse de ses mains.
2Celui qui marche dans la droiture, révère l'Éternel; mais celui dont les voies sont perverses, le méprise.
3La bouche de l'insensé est une verge pour son orgueil; mais les lèvres des sages les gardent.
4Où il n'y a point de bœuf, la grange est vide; mais la force du bœuf fait abonder le revenu.
5Le témoin fidèle ne ment jamais; mais le faux témoin avance des faussetés.
6Le moqueur cherche la sagesse et ne la trouve point; mais la science est aisée à trouver pour un homme entendu.
7Éloigne-toi de l'homme insensé, puisque tu ne connais pas en lui de paroles sages.
8La sagesse d'un homme habile est de prendre garde à sa voie; mais la folie des insensés, c'est la fraude.
9Les insensés se raillent du péché; mais la bienveillance est parmi les hommes droits.
10Le cœur de chacun sent l'amertume de son âme; et un autre n'aura point de part à sa joie.
11La maison des méchants sera détruite; mais la tente des hommes droits fleurira.
12Il y a telle voie qui semble droite à l'homme, mais dont l'issue est la voie de la mort.
13Même en riant le cœur sera triste; et la joie finit par l'ennui.
14Celui qui a le cœur pervers, sera rassasié de ses voies; mais l'homme de bien se rassasie de ce qui est en lui-même.
15Un homme simple croit tout ce qu'on dit; mais l'homme bien avisé considère ses pas.
16Le sage craint, et il évite le mal; mais l'insensé est arrogant et plein de sécurité.
17L'homme emporté fait des folies; et l'homme rusé est haï.
18Les imprudents possèdent la folie; mais les bien avisés sont couronnés de science.
19Les méchants seront humiliés devant les bons, et les impies seront aux portes du juste.
20Le pauvre est haï, même de son ami; mais les amis du riche sont en grand nombre.
21Celui qui méprise son prochain, s'égare; mais celui qui a pitié des affligés, est heureux.
22Ceux qui machinent du mal, ne se fourvoient-ils pas? Mais la miséricorde et la vérité seront pour ceux qui procurent le bien.
23En tout travail il y a quelque profit; mais les vains discours ne tournent qu'à disette.
24La richesse est une couronne pour le sage; mais la folie des insensés est toujours folie.
25Le témoin fidèle délivre les âmes; mais celui qui prononce des mensonges, n'est que tromperie.
26Il y a une ferme assurance dans la crainte de l'Éternel; et il y aura une sûre retraite pour les enfants de celui qui le craint.
27La crainte de l'Éternel est une source de vie, pour détourner des pièges de la mort.
28Dans la multitude du peuple est la gloire d'un roi; mais quand le peuple manque, c'est la ruine du prince.
29Celui qui est lent à la colère est d'un grand sens; mais celui qui est prompt à se courroucer, étale sa folie.
30Un cœur tranquille est la vie du corps; mais l'envie est la carie des os.
31Celui qui fait tort au pauvre, déshonore celui qui l'a fait; mais celui-là l'honore qui a pitié du nécessiteux.
32Dans le malheur, le méchant est renversé; mais le juste reste en assurance, même dans la mort.
33La sagesse repose dans le cœur de l'homme entendu; elle est même reconnue au milieu des insensés.
34La justice élève une nation; mais le péché est la honte des peuples.
35La faveur du roi est pour le serviteur prudent; mais il aura de l'indignation contre celui qui lui fait honte.

1LA mujer sabia edifica su casa: mas la necia con sus manos la derriba.
2El que camina en su rectitud teme á Jehová: mas el pervertido en sus caminos lo menosprecia.
3En la boca del necio está la vara de la soberbia: mas los labios de los sabios los guardarán.
4Sin bueyes el granero está limpio: mas por la fuerza del buey hay abundancia de pan.
5El testigo verdadero no mentirá: mas el testigo falso hablará mentiras.
6Busca el escarnecedor la sabiduría, y no la halla: mas la sabiduría al hombre entendido es fácil.
7Vete de delante del hombre necio, porque en él no advertirás labios de ciencia.
8La ciencia del cuerdo es entender su camino: mas la indiscreción de los necios es engaño.
9Los necios se mofan del pecado: mas entre los rectos hay favor.
10El corazón conoce la amargura de su alma; y extraño no se entrometerá en su alegría.
11La casa de los impíos será asolada: mas florecerá la tienda de los rectos.
12Hay camino que al hombre parece derecho; empero su fin son caminos de muerte.
13Aun en la risa tendrá dolor el corazón; y el término de la alegría es congoja.
14De sus caminos será harto el apartado de razón: y el hombre de bien estará contento del suyo.
15El simple cree á toda palabra: mas el avisado entiende sus pasos.
16El sabio teme, y se aparta del mal: mas el necio se arrebata, y confía.
17El que presto se enoja, hará locura: y el hombre malicioso será aborrecido.
18Los simples heredarán necedad: mas los cuerdos se coronarán de sabiduría.
19Los malos se inclinarán delante de los buenos, y los impíos á las puertas del justo.
20El pobre es odioso aun á su amigo: pero muchos son los que aman al rico.
21Peca el que menosprecia á su prójimo: mas el que tiene misericordia de los pobres, es bienaventurado.
22¿No yerran los que piensan mal? Misericordia empero y verdad alcanzarán los que piensan bien.
23En toda labor hay fruto: mas la palabra de los labios solamente empobrece.
24Las riquezas de los sabios son su corona: mas es infatuación la insensatez de los necios.
25El testigo verdadero libra las almas: mas el engañoso hablará mentiras.
26En el temor de Jehová está la fuerte confianza; y esperanza tendrán sus hijos.
27El temor de Jehová es manantial de vida, para apartarse de los lazos de la muerte.
28En la multitud de pueblo está la gloria del rey: y en la falta de pueblo la flaqueza del príncipe.
29El que tarde se aira, es grande de entendimiento: mas el corto de espíritu engrandece el desatino.
30El corazón apacible es vida de las carnes: mas la envidia, pudrimiento de huesos.
31El que oprime al pobre, afrenta á su Hacedor: mas el que tiene misericordia del pobre, lo honra.
32Por su maldad será lanzado el impío: mas el justo en su muerte tiene esperanza.
33En el corazón del cuerdo reposa la sabiduría; y es conocida en medio de los necios.
34La justicia engrandece la nación: mas el pecado es afrenta de las naciones.
35La benevolencia del rey es para con el ministro entendido: mas su enojo contra el que lo avergüenza.

1Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
2He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
3In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
4Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
6A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.
7Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.
8The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
9Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
10The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
11The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
12There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
13Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.
14The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
15The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
16A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
17He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
18The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.
21He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
22Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.
23In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
24The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.
25A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.
26In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
28In the multitude of people is the king’s honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
29He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
31He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
32The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
33Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.
34Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
35The king’s favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.

35The king’s favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath is toward one who causes shame.
