Proverbios 14

1La femme sage bâtit sa maison, et la femme insensée la renverse de ses propres mains.
2Celui-là marche dans sa droiture qui craint Yahweh, et celui qui le méprise est pervers dans sa voie.
3Dans la bouche de l'insensé est la verge de son orgueil, mais les lèvres des sages les gardent.
4Où il n'y a pas de bœufs, la crèche est vide, mais la vigueur des bœufs procure des revenus abondants.
5Le témoin fidèle ne ment pas, mais le faux témoin profère des mensonges.
6Le moqueur cherche la sagesse et ne la trouve pas, mais pour l'homme intelligent la science est facile.
7Eloigne-toi de l'insensé ; car tu sais que la science n'est pas sur ses lèvres.
8La sagesse de l'homme prudent est de comprendre sa voie ; la folie des insensés, c'est la tromperie.
9L'insensé se rit du péché, mais parmi les hommes droits est la bienveillance.
10Le cœur connaît ses propres chagrins, et un étranger ne peut partager sa joie.
11La maison des méchants sera détruite, mais la tente des hommes droits fleurira.
12Telle voie paraît droite à un homme, mais son issue, c'est la voie de la mort.
13Même dans le rire le cœur trouve la douleur, et la joie se termine par le deuil.
14L'impie sera rassasié de ses voies, et l'homme de bien de ses fruits.
15L'homme simple croit à toute parole, mais l'homme prudent veille sur ses pas.
16Le sage craint et se détourne du mal, mais l'insensé s'emporte et reste en sécurité.
17L'homme prompt à s'irriter fait des sottises, et le malicieux s'attire la haine.
18Les simples ont en partage la folie, et les prudents se font de la science une couronne.
19Les méchants s'inclinent devant les bons, et les impies aux portes du juste.
20Le pauvre est odieux même à son ami ; mais les amis du riche sont nombreux.
21Celui qui méprise son prochain commet un péché ; mais heureux celui qui a pitié des malheureux !
22Ne s'égarent-ils pas ceux qui méditent le mal, et la faveur et la vérité ne sont-elles pas pour ceux qui méditent le bien ?
23Tout travail produit l'abondance, mais les paroles vaines mènent à la disette.
24La richesse est une couronne pour les sages ; la folie des insensés est toujours folie.
25Le témoin véridique délivre des âmes, l'astuce profère des mensonges.
26Celui qui craint Yahweh trouve un appui solide, et ses enfants ont un sûr refuge.
27La crainte de Yahweh est une source de vie, pour échapper aux pièges de la mort.
28Le peuple nombreux est la gloire du roi ; le manque de sujets, c'est la ruine du prince.
29Celui qui est lent à la colère a une grande intelligence ; mais celui qui est prompt à s'emporter publie sa folie.
30Un cœur tranquille est la vie du corps, mais l'envie est la carie des os.
31Celui qui opprime le pauvre outrage celui qui l'a fait ; mais il l'honore celui qui a pitié de l'indigent.
32Par sa propre malice le méchant est renversé ; jusque dans sa mort le juste a confiance.
33Dans le cœur de l'homme intelligent repose la sagesse, et au milieu des insensés on la reconnaît.
34La justice élève une nation, mais le péché est l'opprobre des peuples.
35La faveur du roi est pour le serviteur intelligent, et sa colère pour celui qui fait honte.

1LA mujer sabia edifica su casa: mas la necia con sus manos la derriba.
2El que camina en su rectitud teme á Jehová: mas el pervertido en sus caminos lo menosprecia.
3En la boca del necio está la vara de la soberbia: mas los labios de los sabios los guardarán.
4Sin bueyes el granero está limpio: mas por la fuerza del buey hay abundancia de pan.
5El testigo verdadero no mentirá: mas el testigo falso hablará mentiras.
6Busca el escarnecedor la sabiduría, y no la halla: mas la sabiduría al hombre entendido es fácil.
7Vete de delante del hombre necio, porque en él no advertirás labios de ciencia.
8La ciencia del cuerdo es entender su camino: mas la indiscreción de los necios es engaño.
9Los necios se mofan del pecado: mas entre los rectos hay favor.
10El corazón conoce la amargura de su alma; y extraño no se entrometerá en su alegría.
11La casa de los impíos será asolada: mas florecerá la tienda de los rectos.
12Hay camino que al hombre parece derecho; empero su fin son caminos de muerte.
13Aun en la risa tendrá dolor el corazón; y el término de la alegría es congoja.
14De sus caminos será harto el apartado de razón: y el hombre de bien estará contento del suyo.
15El simple cree á toda palabra: mas el avisado entiende sus pasos.
16El sabio teme, y se aparta del mal: mas el necio se arrebata, y confía.
17El que presto se enoja, hará locura: y el hombre malicioso será aborrecido.
18Los simples heredarán necedad: mas los cuerdos se coronarán de sabiduría.
19Los malos se inclinarán delante de los buenos, y los impíos á las puertas del justo.
20El pobre es odioso aun á su amigo: pero muchos son los que aman al rico.
21Peca el que menosprecia á su prójimo: mas el que tiene misericordia de los pobres, es bienaventurado.
22¿No yerran los que piensan mal? Misericordia empero y verdad alcanzarán los que piensan bien.
23En toda labor hay fruto: mas la palabra de los labios solamente empobrece.
24Las riquezas de los sabios son su corona: mas es infatuación la insensatez de los necios.
25El testigo verdadero libra las almas: mas el engañoso hablará mentiras.
26En el temor de Jehová está la fuerte confianza; y esperanza tendrán sus hijos.
27El temor de Jehová es manantial de vida, para apartarse de los lazos de la muerte.
28En la multitud de pueblo está la gloria del rey: y en la falta de pueblo la flaqueza del príncipe.
29El que tarde se aira, es grande de entendimiento: mas el corto de espíritu engrandece el desatino.
30El corazón apacible es vida de las carnes: mas la envidia, pudrimiento de huesos.
31El que oprime al pobre, afrenta á su Hacedor: mas el que tiene misericordia del pobre, lo honra.
32Por su maldad será lanzado el impío: mas el justo en su muerte tiene esperanza.
33En el corazón del cuerdo reposa la sabiduría; y es conocida en medio de los necios.
34La justicia engrandece la nación: mas el pecado es afrenta de las naciones.
35La benevolencia del rey es para con el ministro entendido: mas su enojo contra el que lo avergüenza.

1Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
2He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
3In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
4Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
6A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.
7Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.
8The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
9Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
10The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
11The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
12There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
13Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.
14The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
15The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
16A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
17He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
18The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.
21He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
22Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.
23In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
24The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.
25A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.
26In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
28In the multitude of people is the king’s honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
29He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
31He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
32The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
33Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.
34Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
35The king’s favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.

7Stay away from a foolish man, for you won’t find knowledge on his lips.

9Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but among the upright there is good will.
10The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger.
11The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
12There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
13Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, and mirth may end in heaviness.
14The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.

17He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, and a crafty man is hated.
