1Ein weiser Sohn gehorcht des Vaters Zucht, aber ein Spötter hört kein Schelten.
2Von seines Mundes Frucht genießt einer Gutes; aber der Treulosen Verlangen ist Gewaltthat.
3Wer seinen Mund hütet, der bewahrt sein Leben; wer seine Lippen aufreißt, dem droht Einsturz.
4Es läßt sich gelüsten, jedoch vergeblich, die Seele des Faulen, aber der Fleißigen Seele wird reich gelabt.
5Der Fromme haßt falsches Wesen, aber der Gottlose handelt schandbar und schimpflich.
6Die Gerechtigkeit behütet unsträflichen Wandel, aber die Gottlosigkeit bringt die Sünder zu Fall.
7Mancher stellt sich reich und hat gar nichts; mancher stellt sich arm und hat doch großes Gut.
8Lösegeld für eines Mannes Leben ist sein Reichtum, aber der Arme bekommt keine Drohung zu hören.
9Das Licht der Frommen scheint fröhlich, aber der Gottlosen Leuchte erlischt.
10Durch Übermut richtet man nichts als Zank an, aber bei denen, die sich raten lassen, ist Weisheit.
11Erhastetes Vermögen mindert sich, wer aber händeweis sammelt, der vermehrt.
12Lang hingezogenes Harren macht das Herz krank, aber ein Baum des Lebens ist der erfüllte Wunsch.
13Wer das Wort verachtet, muß ihm dafür haften, wer aber Scheu vor dem Gebot hat, empfängt seinen Lohn.
14Des Weisen Lehre ist ein Born des Lebens, daß man die Fallstricke des Todes meide.
15Feine Klugheit schafft Gunst, aber der Treulosen Weg führt zu ihrem eigenen Verderben.
16Der Kluge thut alles mit Verstand, ein Thor aber kramt Narrheit aus.
17Ein gottloser Gesandter stürzt in Unglück, aber ein treuer Bote bringt Heilung.
18Armut und Schande erlangt, wer Zucht in den Wind schlägt; wer aber Rüge beachtet, wird geehrt.
19Befriedigtes Verlangen ist der Seele süß, aber das Böse zu meiden, ist für die Thoren ein Greuel.
20Gehe mit Weisen um, so wirst du weise; wer es aber mit den Thoren hält, dem ergeht's übel.
21Die Sünder verfolgt Unglück, aber die Frommen erreicht Glück.
22Der Gute vererbt seine Habe auf Kindeskinder, aber des Sünders Vermögen ist dem Frommen vorbehalten.
23Speise in Fülle bringt der Neubruch der Armen, aber mancher wird durch seine Ungerechtigkeit hinweggerafft.
24Wer seiner Rute schont, der haßt seinen Sohn; wer ihn aber lieb hat, ist auf Züchtigung bedacht.
25Der Fromme hat zu essen, bis er satt wird, aber der Gottlosen Bauch muß Mangel leiden.

1EL hijo sabio toma el consejo del padre: mas el burlador no escucha las reprensiones.
2Del fruto de su boca el hombre comerá bien: mas el alma de los prevaricadores hallará mal.
3El que guarda su boca guarda su alma: mas el que mucho abre sus labios tendrá calamidad.
4Desea, y nada alcanza el alma del perezoso: mas el alma de los diligentes será engordada.
5El justo aborrece la palabra de mentira: mas el impío se hace odioso é infame.
6La justicia guarda al de perfecto camino: mas la impiedad trastornará al pecador.
7Hay quienes se hacen ricos, y no tienen nada: y hay quienes se hacen pobres, y tienen muchas riquezas.
8La redención de la vida del hombre son sus riquezas: pero el pobre no oye censuras.
9La luz de los justos se alegrará: mas apagaráse la lámpara de los impíos.
10Ciertamente la soberbia parirá contienda: mas con los avisados es la sabiduría.
11Disminuiránse las riquezas de vanidad: empero multiplicará el que allega con su mano.
12La esperanza que se prolonga, es tormento del corazón: mas árbol de vida es el deseo cumplido.
13El que menosprecia la palabra, perecerá por ello: mas el que teme el mandamiento, será recompensado.
14La ley del sabio es manantial de vida, para apartarse de los lazos de la muerte.
15El buen entendimiento conciliará gracia: mas el camino de los prevaricadores es duro.
16Todo hombre cuerdo obra con sabiduría: mas el necio manifestará necedad.
17El mal mensajero caerá en mal: mas el mensajero fiel es medicina.
18Pobreza y vergüenza tendrá el que menosprecia el consejo: mas el que guarda la corrección, será honrado.
19El deseo cumplido deleita el alma: pero apartarse del mal es abominación á los necios.
20El que anda con los sabios, sabio será; mas el que se allega á los necios, será quebrantado.
21Mal perseguirá á los pecadores: mas á los justos les será bien retribuído.
22El bueno dejará herederos á los hijos de los hijos; y el haber del pecador, para el justo está guardado.
23En el barbecho de los pobres hay mucho pan: mas piérdese por falta de juicio.
24El que detiene el castigo, á su hijo aborrece: mas el que lo ama, madruga á castigarlo.
25El justo come hasta saciar su alma: mas el vientre de los impíos tendrá necesidad.

1A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
2A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
3He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
6Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
8The ransom of a man’s life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
9The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
11Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
12Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
13Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

17A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.
18Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
19The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
21Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.
22A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
23Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.
24He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
25The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.

1A wise son listens to his father’s instruction, but a scoffer doesn’t listen to rebuke.
2By the fruit of his lips, a man enjoys good things, but the unfaithful crave violence.
3He who guards his mouth guards his soul. One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
4The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.
5A righteous man hates lies, but a wicked man brings shame and disgrace.
6Righteousness guards the way of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
7There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing. There are some who pretend to be poor, yet have great wealth.
8The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, but the poor hear no threats.
9The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.
10Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who take advice.
11Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow.
12Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
13Whoever despises instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command will be rewarded.
14The teaching of the wise is a spring of life, to turn from the snares of death.
