1Un fils sage écoute l'instruction de son père, mais le moqueur n'écoute pas la réprimande.
2Par le fruit de ses lèvres, l'homme jouit de bonnes choses, mais les infidèles ont besoin de violence.
3Celui qui veille sur sa bouche veille sur son âme. Celui qui ouvre grand ses lèvres vient à la ruine.
4L'âme du paresseux désire, et elle n'a rien, mais le désir du diligent sera pleinement satisfait.
5L'homme juste déteste le mensonge, mais un homme méchant apporte la honte et le déshonneur.
6La droiture garde le chemin de l'intégrité, mais la méchanceté renverse le pécheur.
7Il y en a qui prétendent être riches, et qui n'ont rien. Il y a des gens qui prétendent être pauvres, mais qui ont de grandes richesses.
8La rançon de la vie d'un homme, c'est sa richesse, mais les pauvres n'entendent pas de menaces.
9La lumière des justes brille avec éclat, mais la lampe des méchants s'éteint.
10L'orgueil n'engendre que des querelles, mais la sagesse est avec les gens qui suivent les conseils.
11Les richesses acquises malhonnêtement s'amenuisent, mais celui qui ramasse à la main la fait pousser.
12L'espoir différé rend le cœur malade, mais quand le désir est satisfait, c'est un arbre de vie.
13Celui qui méprise l'instruction en paiera le prix, mais celui qui respecte un ordre sera récompensé.
14L'enseignement des sages est une source de vie, pour se détourner des pièges de la mort.
15La bonne entente gagne la faveur, mais le chemin des infidèles est difficile.
16Tout homme prudent agit en connaissance de cause, mais un fou expose la folie.
17Un messager méchant tombe dans la détresse, mais un envoyé digne de confiance gagne la guérison.
18La pauvreté et la honte viennent à celui qui refuse la discipline, mais celui qui tient compte de la correction sera honoré.
19La nostalgie satisfaite est douce à l'âme, mais les fous détestent se détourner du mal.
20Celui qui marche avec des sages devient sage, mais un compagnon des idiots subit le mal.
21Le malheur poursuit les pécheurs, mais la prospérité récompense les justes.
22Un homme bon laisse un héritage aux enfants de ses enfants, mais la richesse du pécheur est stockée pour le juste.
23Il y a une abondance de nourriture dans les champs des pauvres, mais l'injustice le balaie.
24Celui qui ménage la verge déteste son fils, mais celui qui l'aime prend soin de le discipliner.
25Le juste mange pour satisfaire son âme, mais le ventre des méchants a faim.

1EL hijo sabio toma el consejo del padre: mas el burlador no escucha las reprensiones.
2Del fruto de su boca el hombre comerá bien: mas el alma de los prevaricadores hallará mal.
3El que guarda su boca guarda su alma: mas el que mucho abre sus labios tendrá calamidad.
4Desea, y nada alcanza el alma del perezoso: mas el alma de los diligentes será engordada.
5El justo aborrece la palabra de mentira: mas el impío se hace odioso é infame.
6La justicia guarda al de perfecto camino: mas la impiedad trastornará al pecador.
7Hay quienes se hacen ricos, y no tienen nada: y hay quienes se hacen pobres, y tienen muchas riquezas.
8La redención de la vida del hombre son sus riquezas: pero el pobre no oye censuras.
9La luz de los justos se alegrará: mas apagaráse la lámpara de los impíos.
10Ciertamente la soberbia parirá contienda: mas con los avisados es la sabiduría.
11Disminuiránse las riquezas de vanidad: empero multiplicará el que allega con su mano.
12La esperanza que se prolonga, es tormento del corazón: mas árbol de vida es el deseo cumplido.
13El que menosprecia la palabra, perecerá por ello: mas el que teme el mandamiento, será recompensado.
14La ley del sabio es manantial de vida, para apartarse de los lazos de la muerte.
15El buen entendimiento conciliará gracia: mas el camino de los prevaricadores es duro.
16Todo hombre cuerdo obra con sabiduría: mas el necio manifestará necedad.
17El mal mensajero caerá en mal: mas el mensajero fiel es medicina.
18Pobreza y vergüenza tendrá el que menosprecia el consejo: mas el que guarda la corrección, será honrado.
19El deseo cumplido deleita el alma: pero apartarse del mal es abominación á los necios.
20El que anda con los sabios, sabio será; mas el que se allega á los necios, será quebrantado.
21Mal perseguirá á los pecadores: mas á los justos les será bien retribuído.
22El bueno dejará herederos á los hijos de los hijos; y el haber del pecador, para el justo está guardado.
23En el barbecho de los pobres hay mucho pan: mas piérdese por falta de juicio.
24El que detiene el castigo, á su hijo aborrece: mas el que lo ama, madruga á castigarlo.
25El justo come hasta saciar su alma: mas el vientre de los impíos tendrá necesidad.

1A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
2A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
3He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
6Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
8The ransom of a man’s life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
9The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
11Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.

1A wise son listens to his father’s instruction, but a scoffer doesn’t listen to rebuke.
2By the fruit of his lips, a man enjoys good things, but the unfaithful crave violence.
3He who guards his mouth guards his soul. One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
4The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.
5A righteous man hates lies, but a wicked man brings shame and disgrace.
6Righteousness guards the way of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
7There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing. There are some who pretend to be poor, yet have great wealth.
8The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, but the poor hear no threats.
9The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.
10Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who take advice.
11Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow.
12Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
13Whoever despises instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command will be rewarded.
14The teaching of the wise is a spring of life, to turn from the snares of death.
