Que la grâce et la paix vous soient données par Dieu notre Père, et par le Seigneur Jésus-Christ !

Gracia sea á vosotros, y paz de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo.

Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Je rends de constantes actions de grâces à mon Dieu

Doy gracias á mi Dios en toda memoria de vosotros,

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

I thank my God whenever I remember you,

dans chacune de mes prières pour tout le souvenir que je conserve de vous ; Lui adressant avec joie ma prière pour vous tous,

Siempre en todas mis oraciones haciendo oración por todos vosotros con gozo,

Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

always in every request of mine on behalf of you all, making my requests with joy,

à cause de votre commun accord pour l'Évangile

Por vuestra comunión en el evangelio, desde el primer día hasta ahora:

For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

for your partnership in furtherance of the Good News from the first day until now;

dès le premier jour jusques à maintenant, ayant la confiance positive que Celui qui a commencé en vous une œuvre excellente la consommera d'ici à la journée de Christ Jésus.

Estando confiado de esto, que el que comenzó en vosotros la buena obra, la perfeccionará hasta el día de Jesucristo;

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Il est juste en effet que je pense ainsi sur vous tous, car je vous porte dans mon cœur, vous, qui tous, soit dans mes chaînes, soit dans la défense et la confirmation de l'Évangile, partagez avec moi la grâce qui m'est faite ;

Como me es justo sentir esto de todos vosotros, por cuanto os tengo en el corazón; y en mis prisiones, y en la defensa y confirmación del evangelio, sois todos vosotros compañeros de mi gracia.

Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

It is even right for me to think this way on behalf of all of you, because I have you in my heart, because both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the Good News, you all are partakers with me of grace.

car Dieu m'est témoin, que je vous chéris tous avec la tendresse de Christ Jésus.

Porque Dios me es testigo de cómo os amo á todos vosotros en las entrañas de Jesucristo.

For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

Et, ce que je demande dans mes prières, c'est que votre charité abonde encore plus en connaissance et en toute espèce de discernement,

Y esto ruego, que vuestro amor abunde aun más y más en ciencia y en todo conocimiento,

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

pour que vous appréciiez ce qui est excellent, afin d'être purs et irréprochables pour la journée de Christ,

Para que discernáis lo mejor; que seáis sinceros y sin ofensa para el día de Cristo;

That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

so that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ,

possédant pleinement par Jésus-Christ le fruit de la justice, à la gloire et à la louange de Dieu.

Llenos de frutos de justicia, que son por Jesucristo, á gloria y loor de Dios.

Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

Je veux cependant que vous sachiez, frères, que ma position a plutôt contribué aux progrès de l'Évangile,

Y quiero, hermanos, que sepáis que las cosas que me han sucedido, han redundado más en provecho del evangelio;

But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;

Now I desire to have you know, brothers, that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the Good News,

en sorte que, dans tout le prétoire et partout ailleurs, il est devenu manifeste que c'est pour Christ que je suis dans les chaînes,

De manera que mis prisiones han sido célebres en Cristo en todo el pretorio, y á todos los demás;

So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;

so that it became evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds are in Christ,

et la plupart des frères, prenant, grâce au Seigneur, confiance en mes chaînes, se sentent beaucoup plus enhardis à annoncer sans crainte la parole de Dieu.

Y muchos de los hermanos en el Señor, tomando ánimo con mis prisiones, se atreven mucho más á hablar la palabra sin temor.

And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.

Quelques-uns, il est vrai, prêchent aussi Christ par un esprit d'envie et de dispute, tandis que quelques autres le font aussi par bienveillance :

Y algunos, á la verdad, predican á Cristo por envidia y porfía; mas algunos también por buena voluntad.

Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

Some indeed preach Christ even out of envy and strife, and some also out of good will.

les uns agissent par charité, sachant que je suis chargé de la défense de l'Évangile ;

Los unos anuncian á Cristo por contención, no sinceramente, pensando añadir aflicción á mis prisiones;

The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

The former insincerely preach Christ from selfish ambition, thinking that they add affliction to my chains;

les autres, agissant par intrigue, annoncent Christ sans pureté, avec l'intention de provoquer une tribulation pour mes chaînes.

Pero los otros por amor, sabiendo que soy puesto por la defensa del evangelio.

But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Good News.

Qu'importe ? Car, de manière ou d'autre, avec ou sans arrière-pensée, Christ est annoncé, et c'est là ce dont je me réjouis, et ce dont je me réjouirai encore.

¿Qué pues? Que no obstante, en todas maneras, ó por pretexto ó por verdad, es anunciado Cristo; y en esto me huelgo, y aun me holgaré.

What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed. I rejoice in this, yes, and will rejoice.

Je sais d'ailleurs que cela me tournera à salut, grâce à vos prières et à l'assistance de l'Esprit de Jésus-Christ,

Porque sé que esto se me tornará á salud, por vuestra oración, y por la suministración del Espíritu de Jesucristo;

For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

For I know that this will turn out to my salvation through your prayers and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

selon ma vive attente et l'espoir où je suis que je n'aurai à rougir sur aucun point, mais que, maintenant comme toujours, Christ sera magnifié en mon corps avec une pleine franchise, soit par ma vie, soit par ma mort ;

Conforme á mi mira y esperanza, que en nada seré confundido; antes bien con toda confianza, como siempre, ahora también será engrandecido Cristo en mi cuerpo, ó por vida, ó por muerte.

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

car pour moi la vie est Christ, et la mort est un gain.

Porque para mí el vivir es Cristo, y el morir es ganancia.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Mais si la vie dans la chair était utile pour mon œuvre ? En ce cas, je ne sais ce que je dois préférer ;

Mas si el vivir en la carne, esto me será para fruto de la obra, no sé entonces qué escoger;

But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

But if I live on in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work; yet I don’t know what I will choose.

mais je suis pressé de part et d'autre, ayant le désir de partir et d'être avec Christ, car cela est de beaucoup le meilleur,

Porque de ambas cosas estoy puesto en estrecho, teniendo deseo de ser desatado, y estar con Cristo, lo cual es mucho mejor:

For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

But I am hard pressed between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

mais toutefois le séjour en la chair est plus nécessaire à cause de vous.

Empero quedar en la carne es más necesario por causa de vosotros.

Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

Yet to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake.

Et c'est parce que j'ai cette confiance, que je sais que je demeurerai, et que je resterai auprès de vous tous pour l'avancement et la joie de votre foi,

Y confiado en esto, sé que quedaré, que aun permaneceré con todos vosotros, para provecho vuestro y gozo de la fe;

And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;

Having this confidence, I know that I will remain, yes, and remain with you all for your progress and joy in the faith,

afin que le motif de m'enorgueillir à votre sujet s'accroisse pour moi en Christ Jésus lors de mon retour parmi vous.

Para que crezca vuestra gloria de mí en Cristo Jesús por mi venida otra vez á vosotros.

That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.

that your boasting may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.

Seulement, comportez-vous d'une manière digne de l'évangile de Christ, afin que, soit que je vienne et que je vous voie, soit que je sois absent, j'apprenne, en ce qui vous concerne, que vous demeurez fermes dans un seul et même esprit, luttant ensemble d'une seule et même âme pour la foi de l'Évangile,

Solamente que converséis como es digno del evangelio de Cristo; para que, ó sea que vaya á veros, ó que esté ausente, oiga de vosotros que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, unánimes combatiendo juntamente por la fe del evangelio,

Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

Only let your way of life be worthy of the Good News of Christ, that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News;

et ne vous laissant sur aucun point effrayer par les adversaires ; ce qui est pour eux une démonstration de leur perdition, mais de votre salut ; et cela vient de Dieu,

Y en nada intimidados de los que se oponen: que á ellos ciertamente es indicio de perdición, mas á vosotros de salud; y esto de Dios;

And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

and in nothing frightened by the adversaries, which is for them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.

car il vous a été fait la grâce, quant à Christ, non seulement de croire en lui, mais encore de souffrir pour lui,

Porque á vosotros es concedido por Cristo, no sólo que creáis en él, sino también que padezcáis por él,

For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

Because it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on his behalf,

en soutenant le même combat que vous m'avez vu soutenir, et que vous apprenez maintenant que je soutiens encore.

Teniendo el mismo conflicto que habéis visto en mí, y ahora oís estar en mí.

Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
