Ya que he tenido mucho gozo y consuelo en tu amor, porque los corazones de los creyentes han sido refrescado por ti, hermano.

For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.

Por lo cual, aunque he tenido toda autoridad en Cristo para ordenarte que hagas lo que debes hacer,

Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,

Ruégote más bien por amor, siendo tal cual soy, Pablo viejo, y aun ahora prisionero de Jesucristo:
Yet for love’s sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.

Te pido con relación a mi hijo Onésimo, a quien engendré en mis cadenas.

I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:
I appeal to you for my child Onesimus, whom I have become the father of in my chains,
Porque antes él no era de beneficio para ti, pero ahora es beneficioso tanto para ti como para mí.
El cual en otro tiempo te fué inútil, mas ahora á ti y á mí es útil;
Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:
who once was useless to you, but now is useful to you and to me.
Yo lo envío a él, quien es mi propio corazón, de regreso a ti.
El cual te vuelvo á enviar; tú pues, recíbele como á mis entrañas.
Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:
I am sending him back. Therefore receive him, that is, my own heart,
Desearía poder quedarme con él, para que él pudiera servirme en tu lugar, mientras que estoy en cadenas por el bien del evangelio.
Yo quisiera detenerle conmigo, para que en lugar de ti me sirviese en las prisiones del evangelio;
Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:
whom I desired to keep with me, that on your behalf he might serve me in my chains for the Good News.
Pero no quise hacer nada sin tu consentimiento. Hice esto para que ninguna buena obra fuera hecha porque yo te forcé, sino por que tu querías hacerlo.
Mas nada quise hacer sin tu consejo, porque tu beneficio no fuese como de necesidad, sino voluntario.
But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.
But I was willing to do nothing without your consent, that your goodness would not be as of necessity, but of free will.
Porque la razón de la que él fue separado de ti por un tiempo, era para que pudieras tenerle para siempre.
Porque acaso por esto se ha apartado de ti por algún tiempo, para que le recibieses para siempre;
For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;
For perhaps he was therefore separated from you for a while that you would have him forever,
Ya no como un esclavo, sino más que un esclavo, como un amado hermano, especialmente para mí, y mucho más aún para ti, ambos en la carne y en el Señor.
No ya como siervo, antes más que siervo, como hermano amado, mayormente de mí, pero cuánto más de ti, en la carne y en el Señor.
Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?
no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother—especially to me, but how much rather to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.
Si me consideras como un compañero, recíbele a él como me recibirías a mi.
Así que, si me tienes por compañero, recíbele como á mí.
If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.
If then you count me a partner, receive him as you would receive me.
Pero si él te ha hecho mal de algún modo, o te debe algo, cárgalo a mi cuenta.
Y si en algo te dañó, ó te debe, ponlo á mi cuenta.
If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;
But if he has wronged you at all or owes you anything, put that to my account.
Yo, Pablo, te escribo con mi propia mano: Yo lo pagaré. No te menciono que tú me debes tu propia vida.
Yo Pablo lo escribí de mi mano, yo lo pagaré: por no decirte que aun á ti mismo te me debes demás.
I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.

Sí, hermano, déjame tener gozo en el Señor de tí; refresca mi corazón en Cristo.
Sí, hermano, góceme yo de ti en el Señor; recrea mis entrañas en el Señor.
Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.

Confiando en tu obediencia, te escribo. Yo sé que tú harás mucho más de lo que te pido.

Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.
Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even beyond what I say.
Al mismo tiempo, prepara un cuarto de huéspedes para mí, porque tengo la esperanza de que a través de tus oraciones yo podré volver a tí.
Y asimismo prepárame también alojamiento; porque espero que por vuestras oraciones os tengo de ser concedido.
But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.
Also, prepare a guest room for me, for I hope that through your prayers I will be restored to you.
