Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:

Exact thou the avenging of the sons of Israel, from the Midianites,—and, afterwards, shalt thou be withdrawn unto thy kinsfolk.

Haz la venganza de los hijos de Israel sobre los Madianitas; después serás recogido á tus pueblos.

Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.

“Avenge the children of Israel on the Midianites. Afterward you shall be gathered to your people.”

So Moses spake unto the people saying, Arm ye from among you men, for the war, and let them go against Midian, to render the avenging of Yahweh upon Midian.

Entonces Moisés habló al pueblo, diciendo: Armaos algunos de vosotros para la guerra, é irán contra Madián, y harán la venganza de Jehová en Madián.

And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian.

A thousand from each tribe,—of all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send forth unto the war.

So they made war upon Midian, as Yahweh had commanded Moses, and slew every male:

And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.

And the sons of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones,—all their cattle also and all their flocks and all their substance, carried they off as a prey;

Y llevaron cautivas los hijos de Israel las mujeres de los Madianitas, y sus chiquitos y todas sus bestias, y todos sus ganados; y arrebataron toda su hacienda.

And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.

and brought in unto Moses and unto Eleazar the priest and unto the assembly of the sons of Israel—the captives and the booty, and the spoil unto the camp,—unto the waste plains of Moab, which are by Jordan, near Jericho.

Y trajeron á Moisés, y á Eleazar el sacerdote, y á la congregación de los hijos de Israel, los cautivos y la presa y los despojos, al campo en los llanos de Moab, que están junto al Jordán de Jericó.

And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by Jordan near Jericho.

And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, with the captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle.

And Moses said unto them,—Have ye saved alive every female?

Lo! they, became unto the sons of Israel, by the advice of Balaam, the cause of daring acts of treachery against Yahweh, over the affair of Peor,—and then came the plague against the assembly of Yahweh!

He aquí ellas fueron á los hijos de Israel, por consejo de Balaam, para causar prevaricación contra Jehová en el negocio de Peor; por lo que hubo mortandad en la congregación de Jehová.

Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.

Ye, then, pitch outside the camp, for seven days,—whosoever hath killed a person and whoever hath touched the slain, cleanse yourselves (from sin) on the third day and on the seventh day ye and your captives,.

Y vosotros quedaos fuera del campo siete días: y todos los que hubieren matado persona, y cualquiera que hubiere tocado muerto, os purificaréis al tercero y al séptimo día, vosotros y vuestros cautivos.

And do ye abide without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify both yourselves and your captives on the third day, and on the seventh day.

“Encamp outside of the camp for seven days. Whoever has killed any person, and whoever has touched any slain, purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, you and your captives.

Every garment also, and every article of skin and every thing made of goat’s-hair, and every article of wood, shall ye cleanse (from sin).

Asimismo purificaréis todo vestido, y toda prenda de pieles, y toda obra de pelos de cabra, y todo vaso de madera.

And purify all your raiment, and all that is made of skins, and all work of goats’ hair, and all things made of wood.

You shall purify every garment, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats’ hair, and all things made of wood.”

Then said Eleazar the priest unto the men of the host, who had been to the war: This, is the statute of the law, which Yahweh hath commanded Moses:

Surely the gold and the silver,—the bronze the iron, the tin and the lead,

Todo lo que resiste el fuego, por fuego lo haréis pasar, y será limpio, bien que en las aguas de purificación habrá de purificarse: mas haréis pasar por agua todo lo que no aguanta el fuego.

Every thing that may abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water.

Reckon thou up the sum of the booty that was captured, both of man and of beast,—thou and Eleazar the priest, and the ancestral heads of the assembly;

Toma la cuenta de la presa que se ha hecho, así de las personas como de las bestias, tú y el sacerdote Eleazar, y las cabezas de los padres de la congregación:

Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the chief fathers of the congregation:

“Count the plunder that was taken, both of man and of animal, you, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers’ households of the congregation;

and divide the booty into two parts, between them who took upon them the war, who went out in the host,—and all the †rest of the assembly.

Y partirás por mitad la presa entre los que pelearon, los que salieron á la guerra, y toda la congregación.

And divide the prey into two parts; between them that took the war upon them, who went out to battle, and between all the congregation:

and divide the plunder into two parts: between the men skilled in war, who went out to battle, and all the congregation.

Then shalt thou levy a tribute unto Yahweh—from the men of war, who went forth in the host, one living thing, out of five hundred,—of the human beings, and of the herd, and of the asses and of the flock:

And levy a tribute unto the LORD of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of the sheep:

out of their half, shall ye take †them,—and thou shall give †them unto Eleazar the priest as a heave-offering unto Yahweh.

De la mitad de ellos lo tomarás; y darás á Eleazar el sacerdote la ofrenda de Jehová.

Y de la mitad perteneciente á los hijos de Israel tomarás uno de cincuenta, de las personas, de los bueyes, de los asnos, y de las ovejas, de todo animal; y los darás á los Levitas, que tienen la guarda del tabernáculo de Jehová.

And it came to pass that the booty, over and above the prey which the people of the host had seized, was,—of the flock, six hundred and seventy-five thousand;

Now the plunder, over and above the booty which the men of war took, was six hundred seventy-five thousand sheep,

and, of the herd, seventy-two thousand;

and, of the human persons, even of the woman-kind who had not cohabited with man,—all the persons, thirty-two thousand.

Y en cuanto á personas, de mujeres que no habían conocido ayuntamiento de varón, en todas treinta y dos mil.

And the half, the share of them who had gone forth in the host, was,—the number of the flock—three hundred and thirty-seven thousand and five hundred;

So then Moses took—out of the half belonging to the sons of Israel the allotted portion one out of fifty, of the human beings and of the beasts,—and gave them unto the Levites, the keepers of the charge of the habitation of Yahweh, As Yahweh commanded Moses.

De la mitad, pues, para los hijos de Israel tomó Moisés uno de cada cincuenta, así de las personas como de los animales, y diólos á los Levitas, que tenían la guarda del tabernáculo de Jehová; como Jehová lo había mandado á Moisés.

and said unto Moses, Thy servants have reckoned up the sum of the men of war who are in our hand,—and there is not missed from among us, a man!

They said to Moses, “Your servants have taken the sum of the men of war who are under our command, and there lacks not one man of us.

Therefore have we brought near an offering unto Yahweh, what, each man, hath found—articles of gold, ankle chains and bracelets, rings earrings and buckles,—to put a propitiatory-covering over our souls before Yahweh.

Por lo cual hemos ofrecido á Jehová ofrenda, cada uno de lo que ha hallado, vasos de oro, brazaletes, manillas, anillos, zarcillos, y cadenas, para hacer expiación por nuestras almas delante de Jehová.

We have therefore brought an oblation for the LORD, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the LORD.

We have brought the LORD’s offering, what every man found: gold ornaments, armlets, bracelets, signet rings, earrings, and necklaces, to make atonement for our souls before the LORD.”

So Moses, and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them,—all the wrought articles.

The men of the host, had taken prey, each man for himself.

So then Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the princes of thousands, and hundreds,—and brought it into the tent of meeting, as a memorial for the sons of Israel before Yahweh.

Recibieron, pues, Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar, el oro de los tribunos y centuriones, y trajéronlo al tabernáculo del testimonio, por memoria de los hijos de Israel delante de Jehová.
