1Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
2“Seek vengeance for the ⌞Israelites⌟ on the Midianites; afterward you will be gathered to your people.”
3Moses spoke to the people, saying, “Arm yourself from among your men for the battle, so that they will ⌞go⌟ against Midian to mete out the vengeance of Yahweh on Midian.
4A thousand from each tribe of every tribe of Israel you will send to battle.”
5So theywere assigned from the thousands of Israel, a thousand from each tribe, twelve thousand equipped for battle.
6Moses sent them, a thousand from each tribe, to the battle, and Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest to the battle with them, and the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets of the blast were in his hand.
7And they fought against Midian just as Yahweh commanded Moses, and they killed every male.
8They killed the kings of Midian in addition to the ones they had slain: Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba, the five kings of Midian; they also killed Balaam son of Beor by the sword.
9The ⌞Israelites⌟ took captive the women of Midian and their children, and they plundered all their domestic animals and all their livestock and all their wealth.
10They burned all their cities where they dwelled and all their camps with fire.
11They took all the plunder and all the war-booty with the humans and domestic animals.
12They brought the captives, the war-booty, and the plunder to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the community of the ⌞Israelites⌟, to the camp to the desert-plateau of Moab, which was on the Jordan across Jericho.
13And Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the leaders of the community went out to meet them outside the camp.
14But Moses was angry toward the leaders of the troops, the commanders of the thousands and the commanders of the hundreds, who came from the battle of the war.
15And Moses said to them, “You have kept alive every female?
16Behold, these women ⌞caused⌟ the ⌞Israelites⌟, by the word of Balaam, to be in apostasy against Yahweh in the matter of Peor, so that the plague was among the community of Yahweh.
17Now kill every male among the little children, and kill every woman who has ⌞had sexual intercourse with a man⌟.
18But all the females who have not ⌞had sexual intercourse with a man⌟, keep alive for yourselves.
19And you, camp outside the camp seven days; all who killed a person and all who touched the slain purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, you and your captives.
20You will purify yourselves and every garment and every object of hide and all the work of goats’ hair, and every object of wood.”
21Then Eleazar the priest said to the men of the battle who came from the war, “This is the decree of the law that Yahweh commanded Moses.
22Only the gold and the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead—
23everything that will go through the fire—you will pass through the fire, and it will be clean, and only in waters of impurity will it be purified. Whatever does not go into the fire you will pass through the waters.
24And you will wash your garments on the seventh day and be clean, and afterward you will come into the camp.”
25Yahweh said to Moses, saying,
26“You and Eleazar the priest and the leaders of the ⌞families⌟ of the community, ⌞take count⌟ of the war-booty that was captured, both humans and the domestic animals;
27divide the war-booty between those who engaged in the war, who went out to the battle, and all the community.
28Exact a tribute for Yahweh from the men of the war, those who went out to the battle, one from five hundred persons, and from the cattle and from the male donkeys and from the flock;
29take from their half and give it to Eleazar the priest as a contribution to Yahweh.
30From half of the ⌞Israelites⌟, take one share drawn by lot from the fifty from the humans, from the cattle, from the male donkeys, from the flock, from all the domestic animals, and give them to the Levities who keep the responsibilities of the tabernacle of Yahweh.”
31Moses and Eleazar the priest did just as Yahweh commanded Moses.
32Thus the war-booty that remained of the plunder that the people of the battle plundered was six hundred and seventy-five thousand flocks of sheep,
33seventy-two thousand cattle,
34sixty-one thousand male donkeys,
35and the life of humankind, from the women who did not ⌞have sexual intercourse with a man⌟, all the persons were thirty-two thousand.
36The half of the share that was going out to the battle: the number of the flock of sheep was thee hundred and thirty-seven thousand five hundred;
37the tribute to Yahweh from the flock was six hundred and seventy-five;
38and the cattle were thirty-six thousand; and the tribute to Yahweh was seventy-two.
39Of the male donkeys there were thirty thousand five hundred, and the tribute to Yahweh was sixty-one;
40the humans were sixteen thousand, and the tribute to Yahweh was thirty-two persons.
41And Moses gave away the tribute of the contribution of Yahweh to Eleazar the priest, just as Yahweh commanded Moses.
42From the half of the ⌞Israelites⌟, which Moses divided from the men who were fighting,
43the half that belonged to the community was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand five hundred from the flock,
44and thirty-six thousand cattle,
45and thirty thousand five hundred male donkeys,
46and sixteen thousand humans.
47From the half that belonged to the ⌞Israelites⌟, Moses took one share drawn by lot out of every fifty humans and domestic animals, and he gave them to the Levites, who keep the responsibility of the tabernacle of Yahweh, just as Yahweh commanded Moses.
48Then the leaders of the thousands of the army, the commanders of the thousands and the commanders of the hundreds, approached Moses,
49and they said to Moses, “Your servants have ⌞taken count⌟ of the men of war who were ⌞in our charge⌟, and no man is missing from us.
50So we brought the offering of Yahweh, what each man found, objects of gold, bangles, bracelets, rings, earrings, and female ornaments, to make atonement for ourselves ⌞before⌟ Yahweh.”
51Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from them, all objects of work.
52All the gold of the contribution that they raised up to Yahweh, from the commanders of the thousands and the commanders of the hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.
53The men of battle plundered each for himself.
54So Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from the commanders of the thousands and hundreds, and they brought it to the tent of the assembly as a memorial for the ⌞Israelites⌟ before Yahweh.

1Y JEHOVÁ habló á Moisés, diciendo:
2Haz la venganza de los hijos de Israel sobre los Madianitas; después serás recogido á tus pueblos.
3Entonces Moisés habló al pueblo, diciendo: Armaos algunos de vosotros para la guerra, é irán contra Madián, y harán la venganza de Jehová en Madián.
4Mil de cada tribu de todas las tribus de los hijos de Israel, enviaréis á la guerra.
5Así fueron dados de los millares de Israel, mil por cada tribu, doce mil á punto de guerra.
6Y Moisés los envió á la guerra: mil de cada tribu envió: y Phinees, hijo de Eleazar sacerdote, fué á la guerra con los santos instrumentos, con las trompetas en su mano para tocar.
7Y pelearon contra Madián, como Jehová lo mandó á Moisés, y mataron á todo varón.
8Mataron también, entre los muertos de ellos, á los reyes de Madián: Evi, y Recem, y Zur, y Hur, y Reba, cinco reyes de Madián: á Balaam también, hijo de Beor, mataron á cuchillo.

14Y enojóse Moisés contra los capitanes del ejército, contra los tribunos y centuriones que volvían de la guerra;
15Y díjoles Moisés: ¿Todas las mujeres habéis reservado?
16He aquí ellas fueron á los hijos de Israel, por consejo de Balaam, para causar prevaricación contra Jehová en el negocio de Peor; por lo que hubo mortandad en la congregación de Jehová.
17Matad pues ahora todos los varones entre los niños: matad también toda mujer que haya conocido varón carnalmente.
18Y todas las niñas entre las mujeres, que no hayan conocido ayuntamiento de varón, os reservaréis vivas.
19Y vosotros quedaos fuera del campo siete días: y todos los que hubieren matado persona, y cualquiera que hubiere tocado muerto, os purificaréis al tercero y al séptimo día, vosotros y vuestros cautivos.
20Asimismo purificaréis todo vestido, y toda prenda de pieles, y toda obra de pelos de cabra, y todo vaso de madera.
21Y Eleazar el sacerdote dijo á los hombres de guerra que venían de la guerra: Esta es la ordenanza de la ley que Jehová ha mandado á Moisés:
22Ciertamente el oro, y la plata, metal, hierro, estaño, y plomo,
23Todo lo que resiste el fuego, por fuego lo haréis pasar, y será limpio, bien que en las aguas de purificación habrá de purificarse: mas haréis pasar por agua todo lo que no aguanta el fuego.
24Además lavaréis vuestros vestidos el séptimo día, y así seréis limpios; y después entraréis en el campo.
25Y Jehová habló á Moisés, diciendo:
26Toma la cuenta de la presa que se ha hecho, así de las personas como de las bestias, tú y el sacerdote Eleazar, y las cabezas de los padres de la congregación:
27Y partirás por mitad la presa entre los que pelearon, los que salieron á la guerra, y toda la congregación.
28Y apartarás para Jehová el tributo de los hombres de guerra, que salieron á la guerra: de quinientos uno, así de las personas como de los bueyes, de los asnos, y de las ovejas:
29De la mitad de ellos lo tomarás; y darás á Eleazar el sacerdote la ofrenda de Jehová.
30Y de la mitad perteneciente á los hijos de Israel tomarás uno de cincuenta, de las personas, de los bueyes, de los asnos, y de las ovejas, de todo animal; y los darás á los Levitas, que tienen la guarda del tabernáculo de Jehová.
31E hicieron Moisés y Eleazar el sacerdote como Jehová mandó á Moisés.

41Y dió Moisés el tributo, por elevada ofrenda á Jehová, á Eleazar el sacerdote, como Jehová lo mandó á Moisés.
42Y de la mitad para los hijos de Israel, que apartó Moisés de los hombres que habían ido á la guerra;

48Y llegaron á Moisés los jefes de los millares de aquel ejército, los tribunos y centuriones;
49Y dijeron á Moisés: Tus siervos han tomado razón de los hombres de guerra que están en nuestro poder, y ninguno ha faltado de nosotros.
50Por lo cual hemos ofrecido á Jehová ofrenda, cada uno de lo que ha hallado, vasos de oro, brazaletes, manillas, anillos, zarcillos, y cadenas, para hacer expiación por nuestras almas delante de Jehová.
51Y Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron el oro de ellos, alhajas, todas elaboradas.
52Y todo el oro de la ofrenda que ofrecieron á Jehová de los tribunos y centuriones, fué diez y seis mil setecientos y cincuenta siclos.
53Los hombres del ejército habían pillado cada uno para sí.
54Recibieron, pues, Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar, el oro de los tribunos y centuriones, y trajéronlo al tabernáculo del testimonio, por memoria de los hijos de Israel delante de Jehová.

1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.
3And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian.
4Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.
5So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.
6And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the trumpets to blow in his hand.
7And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.
8And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.
9And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.

16Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
17Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
18But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
19And do ye abide without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify both yourselves and your captives on the third day, and on the seventh day.
20And purify all your raiment, and all that is made of skins, and all work of goats’ hair, and all things made of wood.
21And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war which went to the battle, This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD commanded Moses;
22Only the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
23Every thing that may abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water.

28And levy a tribute unto the LORD of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of the sheep:
29Take it of their half, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for an heave offering of the LORD.
30And of the children of Israel’s half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the beeves, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Levites, which keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.

53The men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.
54Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the Tent of Meeting for a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD.
