1Pero viendo Balaam que era del agrado de Dios que bendijera a Israel, no fue más como antes había ido en busca del agüero, sino que volviéndose hacia el desierto,
2y alzando los ojos, miró a Israel, acampado en las tiendas, y distribuido por tribus; y arrebatado del espíritu de Dios,
3comenzó a profetizar, y dijo: Palabra profética de Balaam , hijo de Beor; palabra de aquel hombre que tenía cerrados los ojos;
4palabra de aquel que ha oído la voz de Dios; del que ha contemplado la visión del todopoderoso; del que ha caído, y con eso ha abierto los ojos:
5¡Oh cuán bellos son tus Tabernáculos, Jacob , y tus pabellones, oh Israel!
6Son como valles de árboles frondosos, como huertas de regadío junto a los ríos, como tiendas que el Señor mismo ha fijado, como cedros plantados cerca de las aguas.
7Fluirá perennemente el agua de su arcaduz, y su descendencia crecerá como las copiosas aguas de los ríos. Su rey será desechado por causa de Agag, y le será quitado el reino.
8Sacó Dios de Egipto al pueblo suyo, y su fortaleza es como la del rinoceronte. Devorará Israel los pueblos que sean sus enemigos, les desmenuzará los huesos, y los atravesará con saetas.
9Se echará a formir como león, y como leona a quien ninguno osará despertar. Quien a ti te bendijere, ¡oh Israel!, también él será bendito; aquel que te maldijere, por maldito será tenido.
10Entonces Balac, airado contra Balaam , dando una palmada, dijo: Yo te llamé para maldecir a mis enemigos; y tú al contrario los has ya bendecido por tres veces.
11Vuélvete, pues, a tu lugar. Yo ciertamente tenía determinado el premiarte magníficamente; pero el Señor te ha privado del premio dispuesto.
12Respondió Balaam a Balac: ¿Pues no dije yo a tus mensajeros que me enviaste:
13Aunque Balac me diese su casa llena de oro y plata no podré traspasar el mandato del Señor Dios mío, para proferir por capricho mío cosa alguna, sea de bien o de mal; sino que diré lo que el Señor dijere?
14No obstante, al volverme a mi pueblo, daré un consejo sobre lo que por último ha de hacer tu pueblo a éste de Israel.
15Y prosiguió de nuevo sus profecías, diciendo: Palabra de Balaam , hijo de Beor; palabra de aquel hombre que tenía tapada la vista;
16palabra del que ha oído lo que ha dicho Dios, del que sabe la doctrina del Altísimo, y está viendo visiones del omnipotente, del que cayendo abrió los ojos:
17Yo le veré, mas no ahora; le contemplaré, mas no de cerca. De Jacob NACERA UNA ESTRELLA; y brotará de Israel una vara o cetro que herirá a los caudillos de Moab, y destruirá todos los hijos de Set.
18La Idumea será posesión suya; la herencia de Seir pasará a sus enemigos; peleará Israel con valor.
19De Jacob saldrá el que ha de dominar y arruinar las reliquias de la ciudad.
20Y echando una mirada hacia el país de Amalec, profetizando, dijo: Amalec ha sido la primera de las naciones que han atacado a Israel; mas su fin será el exterminio.
21Dirigió asimismo su vista hacia el cineo, y profetizando, dijo: Fuerte sin duda es tu morada; mas aunque pongas tu habitación sobre una roca,
22y seas de lo más escogido del linaje de Cin, ¿por cuánto tiempo podrás permanecer en ese estado? Porque has de ser presa del asirio.
23Y aun siguió profetizando en estos términos. ¡Ay! ¿Quién vivirá cuando Dios hará todas estas cosas?
24Vendrá una gente en galeras desde Quittim, vencerá a los asirios, destruirá a los hebreos, y al fin también ella misma perecerá.
25Con esto se levantó Balaam , y regresó a su pueblo. Balac asimismo se volvió por el camino por donde había venido.

1Y COMO vió Balaam que parecía bien á Jehová que él bendijese á Israel, no fué, como la primera y segunda vez, á encuentro de agüeros, sino que puso su rostro hacia el desierto;
2Y alzando sus ojos, vió á Israel alojado por sus tribus; y el espíritu de Dios vino sobre él.
3Entonces tomó su parábola, y dijo: Dijo Balaam hijo de Beor, y dijo el varón de ojos abiertos:
4Dijo el que oyó los dichos de Dios, el que vió la visión del Omnipotente; caído, mas abiertos los ojos:
5¡Cuán hermosas son tus tiendas, oh Jacob, tus habitaciones, oh Israel!
6Como arroyos están extendidas, como huertos junto al río, como lináloes plantados por Jehová, como cedros junto á las aguas.
7De sus manos destilarán aguas, y su simiente será en muchas aguas: y ensalzarse ha su rey más que Agag, y su reino será ensalzado.
8Dios lo sacó de Egipto; tiene fuerzas como de unicornio: comerá á las gentes sus enemigas, y desmenuzará sus huesos, y asaeteará con sus saetas.
9Se encorvará para echarse como león, y como leona; ¿quién lo despertará? Benditos los que te bendijeren, y malditos los que te maldijeren.
10Entonces se encendió la ira de Balac contra Balaam, y batiendo sus palmas le dijo: Para maldecir á mis enemigos te he llamado, y he aquí los has resueltamente bendecido ya tres veces.
11Húyete, por tanto, ahora á tu lugar: yo dije que te honraría, mas he aquí que Jehová te ha privado de honra.
12Y Balaam le respondió: ¿No lo declaré yo también á tus mensajeros que me enviaste, diciendo:
13Si Balac me diese su casa llena de plata y oro, yo no podré traspasar el dicho de Jehová para hacer cosa buena ni mala de mi arbitrio; mas lo que Jehová hablare, eso diré yo?
14He aquí yo me voy ahora á mi pueblo: por tanto, ven, te indicaré lo que este pueblo ha de hacer á tu pueblo en los postrimeros días.
15Y tomó su parábola, y dijo: Dijo Balaam hijo de Beor, dijo el varón de ojos abiertos:
16Dijo el que oyó los dichos de Jehová, y el que sabe la ciencia del Altísimo, el que vió la visión del Omnipotente; caído, mas abiertos los ojos:
17Verélo, mas no ahora: lo miraré, mas no de cerca: saldrá ESTRELLA de Jacob, y levantaráse cetro de Israel, y herirá los cantones de Moab, y destruirá á todos los hijos de Seth.
18Y será tomada Edom, será también tomada Seir por sus enemigos, e Israel se portará varonilmente.
19Y el de Jacob se enseñoreará, y destruirá de la ciudad lo que quedare.
20Y viendo á Amalec, tomó su parábola, y dijo: Amalec, cabeza de gentes; mas su postrimería perecerá para siempre.
21Y viendo al Cineo, tomó su parábola, y dijo: Fuerte es tu habitación, pon en la peña tu nido:
22Que el Cineo será echado, cuando Assur te llevará cautivo.
23Todavía tomó su parábola, y dijo: ¡Ay! ¿quién vivirá cuando hiciere Dios estas cosas?
24Y vendrán navíos de la costa de Cittim, y afligirán á Assur, afligirán también á Eber: mas él también perecerá para siempre.
25Entonces se levantó Balaam, y se fué, y volvióse á su lugar: y también Balac se fué por su camino.

1And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
2And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
3And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
4He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:
5How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!
6As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.
7He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.
8God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.
9He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.
10And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.
11Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour.
12And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,
13If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the LORD saith, that will I speak?
14And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.
15And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
16He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:
17I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.
18And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.
19Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.
20And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever.
21And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.
22Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.
23And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!
24And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.
25And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.

1When Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he didn’t go, as at the other times, to use divination, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
2Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel dwelling according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came on him.
3He took up his parable, and said, “Balaam the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;
4he says, who hears the words of God, who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:
5How goodly are your tents, Jacob, and your dwellings, Israel!
6As valleys they are spread out, as gardens by the riverside, as aloes which the LORD has planted, as cedar trees beside the waters.
7Water shall flow from his buckets. His seed shall be in many waters. His king shall be higher than Agag. His kingdom shall be exalted.
8God brings him out of Egypt. He has as it were the strength of the wild ox. He shall consume the nations his adversaries, shall break their bones in pieces, and pierce them with his arrows.
9He couched, he lay down as a lion, as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Everyone who blesses you is blessed. Everyone who curses you is cursed.”
10Balak’s anger burned against Balaam, and he struck his hands together. Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times.
11Therefore, flee to your place, now! I thought to promote you to great honor; but, behold, the LORD has kept you back from honor.”
12Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I also tell your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,
13‘If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond the LORD’s word, to do either good or bad from my own mind. I will say what the LORD says’?
14Now, behold, I go to my people. Come, I will inform you what this people shall do to your people in the latter days.”
15He took up his parable, and said, “Balaam the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;
16he says, who hears the words of God, knows the knowledge of the Most High, and who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:
17I see him, but not now. I see him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob. A scepter will rise out of Israel, and shall strike through the corners of Moab, and crush all the sons of Sheth.
18Edom shall be a possession. Seir, his enemy, also shall be a possession, while Israel does valiantly.
19Out of Jacob shall one have dominion, and shall destroy the remnant from the city.”
20He looked at Amalek, and took up his parable, and said, “Amalek was the first of the nations, but his latter end shall come to destruction.”
21He looked at the Kenite, and took up his parable, and said, “Your dwelling place is strong. Your nest is set in the rock.
22Nevertheless Kain shall be wasted, until Asshur carries you away captive.”
23He took up his parable, and said, “Alas, who shall live when God does this?
24But ships shall come from the coast of Kittim. They shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber. He also shall come to destruction.”
25Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.
