1Da Bileam aber erkannte, daß es der Wille des HERRN war, Israel zu segnen, ging er nicht, wie die vorigen Male, auf Wahrzeichen aus, sondern wandte sein Gesicht nach der Wüste hin.
2Als er nun seine Augen aufschlug und Israel nach seinen Stämmen gelagert sah, da kam der Geist Gottes über ihn,
3und er trug seinen Spruch folgendermaßen vor: »So spricht Bileam, der Sohn Beors, und so spricht der Mann, dessen Auge geschlossen ist;
4so spricht der, der Gottes Worte vernimmt und die Gedanken des Höchsten kennt, der die Offenbarungen des Allmächtigen schaut, der hingesunken ist und dessen Augen enthüllt sind:
5Wie schön sind deine Zelte, Jakob, deine Wohnungen, Israel!
6Wie Täler, die sich weithin dehnen, wie Gärten an einem Strom, wie Aloebäume, die der HERR gepflanzt, wie Zedern am Wasser!
7Wasser rinnt aus seinen Eimern, und seine Saat ist reichlich getränkt. Sein König ist mächtiger als Agag, und sein Königtum steigt stolz empor.
8Gott, der aus Ägypten es geführt, ist ihm wie die Hörner eines Wildstiers. Es frißt die ihm feindlichen Völker und zermalmt ihre Gebeine, es zerschmettert sie mit seinen Pfeilen.
9Es hat sich hingestreckt, liegt da wie ein Leu und wie eine Löwin: wer will es aufstören? Wer dich segnet, ist gesegnet, und wer dir flucht, ist verflucht!«
10Da geriet Balak in Zorn gegen Bileam, so daß er die Hände zusammenschlug. Dann sagte Balak zu Bileam: »Um meine Feinde zu verfluchen, habe ich dich holen lassen, und nun hast du sie sogar gesegnet, nun schon dreimal!
11Kehre jetzt nur sofort in deine Heimat zurück! Ich hatte gedacht, dich hoch zu ehren; doch nun hat der HERR dich um die Ehre gebracht!«
12Da antwortete Bileam dem Balak: »Habe ich nicht schon deinen Boten, die du an mich gesandt hattest, ausdrücklich erklärt:
13›Wenn Balak mir auch sein ganzes Haus voll Silber und Gold geben wollte, so vermöchte ich doch den Befehl des HERRN nicht zu übertreten, um nach eigenem Belieben etwas zu tun, sei es zum Guten oder zum Bösen; sondern nur, was der HERR mir eingäbe, das würde ich kundtun‹?
14Weil ich denn jetzt zu meinem Volk zurückkehre, so komm: ich will dir verkünden, was dieses Volk deinem Volk in künftigen Zeiten antun wird!«
15Hierauf trug er seinen Spruch folgendermaßen vor: »So spricht Bileam, der Sohn Beors, und so spricht der Mann, dessen Auge geschlossen ist;
16So spricht der, welcher Gottes Worte vernimmt und die Gedanken des Höchsten kennt, der die Offenbarungen des Allmächtigen schaut, der hingesunken ist und dessen Augen enthüllt sind:
17Ich sehe ihn, doch nicht schon jetzt, ich gewahre ihn, doch noch nicht in der Nähe; es geht ein Stern aus Jakob auf, und ein Herrscherstab ersteht aus Israel, der zerschmettert die Schläfen Moabs, den Scheitel aller Söhne Seths.
18Und Edom wird sein Eigentum werden und Seir sein Eigentum, sie, seine Feinde; Israel aber wird große Taten verrichten.
19Von Jakob wird der Herrscher ausgehn und Entronnene vertilgen aus den Städten.«
20Als er dann die Amalekiter erblickte, trug er seinen Spruch folgendermaßen vor: »Der Völker erstes ist Amalek, doch sein Ende fällt dem Untergang anheim!«
21Als er dann die Keniter erblickte, trug er seinen Spruch folgendermaßen vor: »Fest ist dein Wohnsitz, (Kain,) und auf Felsen gebaut dein Nest;
22gleichwohl ist Kain dem Untergang geweiht: wie lange noch, so führt Assur dich in Gefangenschaft!«
23Dann trug er nochmals seinen Spruch folgendermaßen vor: »Wehe! Wer wird am Leben bleiben, wenn Gott dies eintreten läßt?
24Denn Schiffe kommen vom Strand der Kittäer, die demütigen Assur und demütigen Eber; doch auch der wird dem Untergang verfallen!«
25Hierauf machte Bileam sich auf den Weg und kehrte in seine Heimat zurück; und auch Balak ging seines Weges.

1Y COMO vió Balaam que parecía bien á Jehová que él bendijese á Israel, no fué, como la primera y segunda vez, á encuentro de agüeros, sino que puso su rostro hacia el desierto;
2Y alzando sus ojos, vió á Israel alojado por sus tribus; y el espíritu de Dios vino sobre él.
3Entonces tomó su parábola, y dijo: Dijo Balaam hijo de Beor, y dijo el varón de ojos abiertos:
4Dijo el que oyó los dichos de Dios, el que vió la visión del Omnipotente; caído, mas abiertos los ojos:
5¡Cuán hermosas son tus tiendas, oh Jacob, tus habitaciones, oh Israel!
6Como arroyos están extendidas, como huertos junto al río, como lináloes plantados por Jehová, como cedros junto á las aguas.
7De sus manos destilarán aguas, y su simiente será en muchas aguas: y ensalzarse ha su rey más que Agag, y su reino será ensalzado.
8Dios lo sacó de Egipto; tiene fuerzas como de unicornio: comerá á las gentes sus enemigas, y desmenuzará sus huesos, y asaeteará con sus saetas.
9Se encorvará para echarse como león, y como leona; ¿quién lo despertará? Benditos los que te bendijeren, y malditos los que te maldijeren.
10Entonces se encendió la ira de Balac contra Balaam, y batiendo sus palmas le dijo: Para maldecir á mis enemigos te he llamado, y he aquí los has resueltamente bendecido ya tres veces.
11Húyete, por tanto, ahora á tu lugar: yo dije que te honraría, mas he aquí que Jehová te ha privado de honra.
12Y Balaam le respondió: ¿No lo declaré yo también á tus mensajeros que me enviaste, diciendo:
13Si Balac me diese su casa llena de plata y oro, yo no podré traspasar el dicho de Jehová para hacer cosa buena ni mala de mi arbitrio; mas lo que Jehová hablare, eso diré yo?
14He aquí yo me voy ahora á mi pueblo: por tanto, ven, te indicaré lo que este pueblo ha de hacer á tu pueblo en los postrimeros días.
15Y tomó su parábola, y dijo: Dijo Balaam hijo de Beor, dijo el varón de ojos abiertos:
16Dijo el que oyó los dichos de Jehová, y el que sabe la ciencia del Altísimo, el que vió la visión del Omnipotente; caído, mas abiertos los ojos:
17Verélo, mas no ahora: lo miraré, mas no de cerca: saldrá ESTRELLA de Jacob, y levantaráse cetro de Israel, y herirá los cantones de Moab, y destruirá á todos los hijos de Seth.
18Y será tomada Edom, será también tomada Seir por sus enemigos, e Israel se portará varonilmente.
19Y el de Jacob se enseñoreará, y destruirá de la ciudad lo que quedare.
20Y viendo á Amalec, tomó su parábola, y dijo: Amalec, cabeza de gentes; mas su postrimería perecerá para siempre.
21Y viendo al Cineo, tomó su parábola, y dijo: Fuerte es tu habitación, pon en la peña tu nido:
22Que el Cineo será echado, cuando Assur te llevará cautivo.
23Todavía tomó su parábola, y dijo: ¡Ay! ¿quién vivirá cuando hiciere Dios estas cosas?
24Y vendrán navíos de la costa de Cittim, y afligirán á Assur, afligirán también á Eber: mas él también perecerá para siempre.
25Entonces se levantó Balaam, y se fué, y volvióse á su lugar: y también Balac se fué por su camino.

1And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
2And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
3And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
4He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:
5How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!
6As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.
7He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.
8God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.
9He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.
10And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.
11Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour.
12And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,
13If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the LORD saith, that will I speak?
14And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.
15And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
16He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:
17I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.
18And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.
19Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.
20And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever.
21And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.
22Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.
23And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!
24And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.
25And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.

1When Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he didn’t go, as at the other times, to use divination, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
2Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel dwelling according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came on him.
3He took up his parable, and said, “Balaam the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;
4he says, who hears the words of God, who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:
5How goodly are your tents, Jacob, and your dwellings, Israel!
6As valleys they are spread out, as gardens by the riverside, as aloes which the LORD has planted, as cedar trees beside the waters.
7Water shall flow from his buckets. His seed shall be in many waters. His king shall be higher than Agag. His kingdom shall be exalted.
8God brings him out of Egypt. He has as it were the strength of the wild ox. He shall consume the nations his adversaries, shall break their bones in pieces, and pierce them with his arrows.
9He couched, he lay down as a lion, as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Everyone who blesses you is blessed. Everyone who curses you is cursed.”
10Balak’s anger burned against Balaam, and he struck his hands together. Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times.
11Therefore, flee to your place, now! I thought to promote you to great honor; but, behold, the LORD has kept you back from honor.”
12Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I also tell your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,
13‘If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond the LORD’s word, to do either good or bad from my own mind. I will say what the LORD says’?
14Now, behold, I go to my people. Come, I will inform you what this people shall do to your people in the latter days.”
15He took up his parable, and said, “Balaam the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;
16he says, who hears the words of God, knows the knowledge of the Most High, and who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:
17I see him, but not now. I see him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob. A scepter will rise out of Israel, and shall strike through the corners of Moab, and crush all the sons of Sheth.
18Edom shall be a possession. Seir, his enemy, also shall be a possession, while Israel does valiantly.
19Out of Jacob shall one have dominion, and shall destroy the remnant from the city.”
20He looked at Amalek, and took up his parable, and said, “Amalek was the first of the nations, but his latter end shall come to destruction.”
21He looked at the Kenite, and took up his parable, and said, “Your dwelling place is strong. Your nest is set in the rock.
22Nevertheless Kain shall be wasted, until Asshur carries you away captive.”
23He took up his parable, and said, “Alas, who shall live when God does this?
24But ships shall come from the coast of Kittim. They shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber. He also shall come to destruction.”
