Entonces envió a los hombres a Balaam, hijo de Beor, en Petor, junto al río, en la tierra de los hijos de su pueblo, y le dijeron: Mira, ha salido de Egipto un pueblo que cubre todo el rostro del tierra, y han puesto sus tiendas frente a mí:
Por tanto envió mensajeros á Balaam hijo de Beor, á Pethor, que está junto al río en la tierra de los hijos de su pueblo, para que lo llamasen, diciendo: Un pueblo ha salido de Egipto, y he aquí cubre la haz de la tierra, y habita delante de mí:
He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:

Vengan ahora, en respuesta a mi oración, y pongan una maldición sobre esta gente, porque son más grandes que yo: y entonces puedo ser lo suficientemente fuerte para vencerlos y enviarlos fuera de la tierra: porque está claro ese bien le llega al que tiene tu bendición, pero el que pones tu maldición está maldito.
Ven pues ahora, te ruego, maldíceme este pueblo, porque es más fuerte que yo: quizá podré yo herirlo, y echarlo de la tierra: que yo sé que el que tú bendijeres, será bendito, y el que tú maldijeres, será maldito.
Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.
Please come now therefore, and curse this people for me; for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall prevail, that we may strike them, and that I may drive them out of the land; for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”
Entonces los hombres responsables de Moab y Madián se fueron, tomando en sus manos las recompensas por el profeta; y vinieron a Balaam y le dijeron lo que Balac les había ordenado que dijeran.
Y fueron los ancianos de Moab, y los ancianos de Madián, con las dádivas de adivinación en su mano, y llegaron á Balaam, y le dijeron las palabras de Balac.
And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.

Y él les dijo: descansa aquí esta noche, y te daré una respuesta después de escuchar lo que el Señor dice; Así que los jefes de Moab se quedaron allí con Balaam esa noche.

And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.

Y vino Dios a Balaam y le dijo: ¿Quiénes son estos hombres que están contigo?
Y vino Dios á Balaam, y díjole: ¿Qué varones son estos que están contigo?
And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?

Mira, las personas que han salido de Egipto están cubriendo toda la tierra: ahora, maldice este pueblo, para que pueda hacerles la guerra y expulsarlos de la tierra.
He aquí este pueblo que ha salido de Egipto, cubre la haz de la tierra: ven pues ahora, y maldícemelo; quizá podré pelear con él, y echarlo.
Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.
‘Behold, the people that has come out of Egypt covers the surface of the earth. Now, come curse them for me. Perhaps I shall be able to fight against them, and shall drive them out.’”
Entonces Dios dijo a Balaam: No debes ir con ellos, ni maldecir a este pueblo, porque tiene mi bendición.

And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.

Por la mañana, Balaam se levantó y dijo a los jefes de Balac: Vuelve a tu tierra, porque el Señor no me dejará ir contigo.
Así Balaam se levantó por la mañana, y dijo á los príncipes de Balac: Volveos á vuestra tierra, porque Jehová no me quiere dejar ir con vosotros.

Entonces los jefes de Moab volvieron a Balac y dijeron: Balaam no vendrá con nosotros.

And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.

Entonces Balac envió más jefes, mayores en número y en mayor posición que los otros.
Y tornó Balac á enviar otra vez más príncipes, y más honorables que los otros.

Porque te daré un lugar de gran honor, y todo lo que me digas, lo haré; así que ven, en respuesta a mi oración, y pon una maldición sobre esta gente.
Porque sin duda te honraré mucho, y haré todo lo que me dijeres: ven pues ahora, maldíceme á este pueblo.
For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.
for I will promote you to very great honor, and whatever you say to me I will do. Please come therefore, and curse this people for me.’”
Pero Balaam, en respuesta; dijo a los siervos de Balac: Aunque Balac me diera su casa llena de plata y oro, no me sería posible hacer nada más ni menos que las órdenes del Señor mi Dios.
Y Balaam respondió, y dijo á los siervos de Balac: Aunque Balac me diese su casa llena de plata y oro, no puedo traspasar la palabra de Jehová mi Dios, para hacer cosa chica ni grande.
And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.

Así que descansa aquí esta noche, hasta que sepa qué más me tiene que decir el Señor.
Ruégoos por tanto ahora, que reposéis aquí esta noche, para que yo sepa qué me vuelve á decir Jehová.
Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more.
Now therefore please stay here tonight as well, that I may know what else the LORD will speak to me.”
Y esa noche, Dios vino a Balaam y le dijo: Si estos hombres han venido por ti, ve con ellos; pero haz sólo lo que yo te diga.
Y vino Dios á Balaam de noche, y díjole: Si vinieren á llamarte hombres, levántate y ve con ellos: empero harás lo que yo te dijere.
And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.

Entonces, en la mañana, Balaam se levantó y, ensilló su asno, fue con los jefes de Moab.
Así Balaam se levantó por la mañana, y cinchó su asna, y fué con los príncipes de Moab.

Pero Dios se enfureció porque él fue, y el ángel del Señor tomó una posición en el camino para evitar que cumpliera su propósito. Iba montado en su asno, y sus dos sirvientes estaban con él.
Y el furor de Dios se encendió porque él iba; y el ángel de Jehová se puso en el camino por adversario suyo. Iba, pues, él montado sobre su asna, y con él dos mozos suyos.
And God’s anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.

Y el asno vio al ángel del Señor esperando en el camino con su espada en la mano; y saliendo del camino, el asno entró en el campo; y Balaam azotó al asno para que volviera a la carretera.
Y el asna vió al ángel de Jehová, que estaba en el camino con su espada desnuda en su mano; y apartóse el asna del camino, é iba por el campo. Entonces hirió Balaam al asna para hacerla volver al camino.
And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.
The donkey saw the LORD’s angel standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand; and the donkey turned out of the path, and went into the field. Balaam struck the donkey, to turn her into the path.
Entonces el ángel del Señor tomó su posición en un camino estrecho a través de los viñas, con un muro en este lado y en él otro.
Mas el ángel de Jehová se puso en una senda de viñas que tenía pared de una parte y pared de otra.
But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.
Then the LORD’s angel stood in a narrow path between the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.
Y el asno vio al ángel del Señor, y se acercó al muro, aplastando el pie de Balaam contra el muro; Y le dio más golpes.
Y viendo el asna al ángel de Jehová, pegóse á la pared, y apretó contra la pared el pie de Balaam: y él volvió á herirla.
And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall: and he smote her again.
The donkey saw the LORD’s angel, and she thrust herself to the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall. He struck her again.
Entonces el ángel del Señor fue más allá, deteniéndose en un lugar estrecho donde no había espacio para girar a la derecha ni a la izquierda.
Y el ángel de Jehová pasó más allá, y púsose en una angostura, donde no había camino para apartarse ni á diestra ni á siniestra.
And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.

Y el asno vio al ángel del Señor y descendió a la tierra debajo de Balaam; y lleno de ira, Balaam le dio duros golpes con su vara.
Y viendo el asna al ángel de Jehová, echóse debajo de Balaam: y enojóse Balaam, é hirió al asna con el palo.
And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.
The donkey saw the LORD’s angel, and she lay down under Balaam. Balaam’s anger burned, and he struck the donkey with his staff.
Entonces el Señor le dio al asno el poder de hablar y, abriendo la boca, le dijo a Balaam: ¿Qué te he hecho que me has dado golpes estas tres veces?
Entonces Jehová abrió la boca al asna, la cual dijo á Balaam: ¿Qué te he hecho, que me has herido estas tres veces?
And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?
The LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?”
Y Balaam dijo al asno: Tú me has hecho parecer tonto: si solo tuviera una espada en la mano, te mataría.
Y Balaam respondió al asna: Porque te has burlado de mí: ¡ojalá tuviera espada en mi mano, que ahora te mataría!
And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.
Balaam said to the donkey, “Because you have mocked me, I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would have killed you.”
Y el asno le dijo a Balaam: ¿No soy tu asno sobre el que has andado toda tu vida hasta este día? ¿Y alguna vez te he hecho esto antes? Y él respondió: No.
Y el asna dijo á Balaam: ¿No soy yo tu asna? sobre mí has cabalgado desde que tú me tienes hasta este día; ¿he acostumbrado á hacerlo así contigo? Y él respondió: No.
And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.
The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your donkey, on which you have ridden all your life long until today? Was I ever in the habit of doing so to you?” He said, “No.”
Entonces él Señor abrió los ojos de Balaam, y vio al ángel del Señor en el camino con su espada en la mano; y descendió sobre su rostro a la tierra.
Entonces Jehová abrió los ojos á Balaam, y vió al ángel de Jehová que estaba en el camino, y tenía su espada desnuda en su mano. Y Balaam hizo reverencia, é inclinóse sobre su rostro.
Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.

Y el ángel del Señor le dijo: ¿Por qué le has dado a tu asno golpes estas tres veces? Mira, he salido contra ti para retenerte, porque tu propósito no es agradable para mí.
Y el ángel de Jehová le dijo: ¿Por qué has herido tu asna estas tres veces? he aquí yo he salido para contrarrestarte, porque tu camino es perverso delante de mí:
And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me:
The LORD’s angel said to him, “Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out as an adversary, because your way is perverse before me.
Y el asno me vio, girándose hacia un lado tres veces: si ella no hubiera ido a un lado, ciertamente te habría matado y habría mantenido a salvo.
El asna me ha visto, y hase apartado luego de delante de mí estas tres veces: y si de mí no se hubiera apartado, yo también ahora te mataría á ti, y á ella dejaría viva.
And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive.
The donkey saw me, and turned away before me these three times. Unless she had turned away from me, surely now I would have killed you, and saved her alive.”
Y Balaam dijo al ángel del Señor: He hecho algo malo, porque no vi que estabas en el camino contra mí; pero ahora, si es malo para ti, volveré.
Entonces Balaam dijo al ángel de Jehová: He pecado, que no sabía que tú te ponías delante de mí en el camino: mas ahora, si te parece mal, yo me volveré.
And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again.
Balaam said to the LORD’s angel, “I have sinned; for I didn’t know that you stood in the way against me. Now therefore, if it displeases you, I will go back again.”
Entonces el ángel del Señor dijo a Balaam: Ve con los hombres; Pero di sólo lo que te doy para decir. Entonces Balaam siguió con los jefes de Balac.
Y el ángel de Jehová dijo á Balaam: Ve con esos hombres: empero la palabra que yo te dijere, esa hablarás. Así Balaam fué con los príncipes de Balac.
And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
The LORD’s angel said to Balaam, “Go with the men; but you shall only speak the word that I shall speak to you.” So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
Entonces Balac, al enterarse de que Balaam había venido, se dirigió a la ciudad principal de Moab, al borde del Arnón, en la parte más alejada de la tierra, con el propósito de reunirse con él.
Y oyendo Balac que Balaam venía, salió á recibirlo á la ciudad de Moab, que está junto al término de Arnón, que es el cabo de los confines.
And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast.
When Balak heard that Balaam had come, he went out to meet him to the City of Moab, which is on the border of the Arnon, which is in the utmost part of the border.
Entonces Balac dijo a Balaam: ¿No te envié pidiéndote con todo mi corazón que vinieras a mí? porque no viniste ¿No soy capaz de darte un lugar de honor?
Y Balac dijo á Balaam: ¿No envié yo á ti á llamarte? ¿por qué no has venido á mí? ¿no puedo yo honrarte?
And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour?
Balak said to Balaam, “Didn’t I earnestly send for you to summon you? Why didn’t you come to me? Am I not able indeed to promote you to honor?”
Entonces Balaam dijo a Balac: Ahora he venido a ti; ¿Pero tengo poder para decir algo? Solo lo que Dios pone en mi boca puedo decir.
Y Balaam respondió á Balac: He aquí yo he venido á ti: mas ¿podré ahora hablar alguna cosa? La palabra que Dios pusiere en mi boca, esa hablaré.
And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.
Balaam said to Balak, “Behold, I have come to you. Have I now any power at all to speak anything? I will speak the word that God puts in my mouth.”
Y Balaam fue con Balac a Quiriat-huzot.
Y fué Balaam con Balac, y vinieron á la ciudad de Husoth.

Entonces Balac hizo ofrendas de bueyes y ovejas, y los envió a Balaam y a los jefes que estaban con él.

And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.

Y en la mañana, Balac llevó a Balaam a los lugares altos de Baal, y desde allí pudo ver los límites exteriores del pueblo.
Y el día siguiente Balac tomó á Balaam, é hízolo subir á los altos de Baal, y desde allí vió la extremidad del pueblo.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.
