Y como hubiese oído Arad, rey de los cananeos, que habitaba al mediodía, que Israel había venido por el mismo camino de los exploradores, peleó contra él; y saliendo vencedor se llevó los despojos.

Y OYENDO el Cananeo, el rey de Arad, el cual habitaba al mediodía, que venía Israel por el camino de los centinelas, peleó con Israel, y tomó de él presa.

And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.

The Canaanite, the king of Arad, who lived in the South, heard that Israel came by the way of Atharim. He fought against Israel, and took some of them captive.

En vista de esto, Israel, obligándose al Señor con voto, dijo: Si entregares a ese pueblo en mi mano, arrasaré sus ciudades.

Entonces Israel hizo voto á Jehová, y dijo: Si en efecto entregares á este pueblo en mi mano, yo destruiré sus ciudades.

And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.

Israel vowed a vow to the LORD, and said, “If you will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.”

Otorgó el Señor la súplica a Israel, y le entregó el cananeo; a quien él pasó a cuchillo, asolando sus ciudades; por lo que llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Horma, esto es, Anatema o desolación total.

Y Jehová escuchó la voz de Israel, y entregó al Cananeo, y destruyólos á ellos y á sus ciudades; y llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Horma.

And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.

Partieron después del monte Hor, camino del mar Rojo, a fin de ir rodeando la Idumea. Y empezó el pueblo a enfadarse del viaje y del trabajo;

Y partieron del monte de Hor, camino del mar Bermejo, para rodear la tierra de Edom; y abatióse el ánimo del pueblo por el camino.

And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.

They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. The soul of the people was very discouraged because of the journey.

y hablando contra Dios y Moisés, dijo: ¿Por qué nos sacaste de Egipto para que muriésemos en el desierto? Falta el pan, no hay agua; nos provoca ya a náusea este manjar sin sustancia.

Y habló el pueblo contra Dios y Moisés: ¿Por qué nos hiciste subir de Egipto para que muramos en este desierto? que ni hay pan, ni agua, y nuestra alma tiene fastidio de este pan tan liviano.

And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

The people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!”

Por lo cual el Señor envió contra el pueblo serpientes abrasadoras, por cuyas mordeduras y muerte de muchísimos,

Y Jehová envió entre el pueblo serpientes ardientes, que mordían al pueblo: y murió mucho pueblo de Israel.

And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

The LORD sent venomous snakes among the people, and they bit the people. Many people of Israel died.

fue el pueblo a Moisés, y dijeron todos: Pecado hemos, pues hemos hablado contra el Señor y contra ti: suplícale que aleje de nosotros las serpientes. Hizo Moisés oración por el pueblo,

Entonces el pueblo vino á Moisés, y dijeron: Pecado hemos por haber hablado contra Jehová, y contra ti: ruega á Jehová que quite de nosotros estas serpientes. Y Moisés oró por el pueblo.

Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.

The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD and against you. Pray to the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.

y el Señor le dijo: Haz una serpiente de bronce, y ponla en alto para señal; quienquiera que siendo mordido la mirare, vivirá.

Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Hazte una serpiente ardiente, y ponla sobre la bandera: y será que cualquiera que fuere mordido y mirare á ella, vivirá.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

The LORD said to Moses, “Make a venomous snake, and set it on a pole. It shall happen that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”

Hizo, pues, Moisés, una serpiente de bronce, y la puso por señal, a la cual mirando los mordidos, sanaban.

Y Moisés hizo una serpiente de metal, y púsola sobre la bandera: y fué, que cuando alguna serpiente mordía á alguno, miraba á la serpiente de metal, y vivía.

And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

Moses made a serpent of bronze, and set it on the pole. If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the serpent of bronze, he lived.

Partidos de aquí los hijos de Israel, acamparon en Obot;

Y partieron los hijos de Israel, y asentaron campo en Oboth.

And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in Oboth.

The children of Israel traveled, and encamped in Oboth.

de donde habiendo salido, plantaron sus tiendas en Jeabarim, en el desierto que mira a Moab, hacia la parte oriental.

Y partidos de Oboth, asentaron en Ije-abarim, en el desierto que está delante de Moab, al nacimiento del sol.

And they journeyed from Oboth, and pitched at Ije-abarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrising.

They traveled from Oboth, and encamped at Iyeabarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrise.

Partiendo de allí, vinieron al torrente de Zared;

Partidos de allí, asentaron en la arroyada de Zared.

From thence they removed, and pitched in the valley of Zared.

Después dejando éste, acamparon enfrente del de Arnón, que está en el desierto y a la frontera del amorreo; por cuanto el torrente Arnón es el término de Moab, que divide a los moabitas de los amorreos.

De allí movieron, y asentaron de la otra parte de Arnón, que está en el desierto, y que sale del término del Amorrheo; porque Arnón es término de Moab, entre Moab y el Amorrheo.

From thence they removed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts of the Amorites: for Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

From there they traveled, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites; for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

De donde se dice en el libro de las guerras del Señor: Lo que hice en el mar Rojo, eso mismo haré en los torrentes de Arnón.

Por tanto se dice en el libro de las batallas de Jehová: Lo que hizo en el mar Bermejo, y en los arroyos de Arnón:

Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon,

Therefore it is said in The Book of the Wars of the LORD, “Vaheb in Suphah, the valleys of the Arnon,

Los escollos de los torrentes se bajaron para que pasasen los israelitas, y reposasen en Ar, y acampasen en los confines de Moab.

Y á la corriente de los arroyos que va á parar en Ar, y descansa en el término de Moab.

And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab.

the slope of the valleys that incline toward the dwelling of Ar, leans on the border of Moab.”

Desde aquel sitio pasaron a Beer, donde apareció el pozo cerca del cual dijo el Señor a Moisés: Junta el pueblo, que yo le daré agua.

Y de allí vinieron á Beer: este es el pozo del cual Jehová dijo á Moisés: Junta el pueblo, y les daré agua.

And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the LORD spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.

From there they traveled to Beer; that is the well of which the LORD said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.”

Entonces entonó Israel este cántico: Brote agua el pozo, cantaron a una,

Then Israel sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it:

el pozo que los príncipes abrieron, y formaron con sus báculos los caudillos de Israel dirigidos por el legislador Moisés. De este desierto pasaron a Mattana.

Pozo, el cual cavaron los señores; caváronlo los príncipes del pueblo, y el legislador, con sus bordones. Y del desierto vinieron á Mathana:

The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by the direction of the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah:

the well, which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their poles.” From the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;

De Mattana fueron a Nahaliel. De Nahaliel a Bamot.

Y de Mathana á Nahaliel: y de Nahaliel á Bamoth:

And from Mattanah to Nahaliel: and from Nahaliel to Bamoth:

and from Mattanah to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel to Bamoth;

De Bamot fueron a donde hay un valle en el territorio de Moab, hacia la cumbre del Fasga, que mira al desierto.

Y de Bamoth al valle que está en los campos de Moab, y á la cumbre de Pisga, que mira á Jesimón.

And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshimon.

and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the field of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looks down on the desert.

Desde allí envió Israel embajadores a Sehón, rey de los amorreos, diciendo:

Y envió Israel embajadores á Sehón, rey de los Amorrheos, diciendo:

And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,

Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,

Ruégote que me dejes pasar por tu tierra; no torceremos hacia los campos y viñas, ni beberemos agua de los pozos; marcharemos por el camino real, hasta que hayamos pasado tus términos.

Pasaré por tu tierra: no nos apartaremos por los labrados, ni por las viñas; no beberemos las aguas de los pozos: por el camino real iremos, hasta que pasemos tu término.

Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king’s high way, until we be past thy borders.

“Let me pass through your land. We will not turn away into field or vineyard. We will not drink of the water of the wells. We will go by the king’s highway, until we have passed your border.”

No quiso Sehón permitir que Israel atravesase por su país; antes bien, juntando sus tropas le salió al encuentro en el desierto, y vino hasta Jasa, y le dio batalla.

Mas Sehón no dejó pasar á Israel por su término: antes juntó Sehón todo su pueblo, y salió contra Israel en el desierto: y vino á Jahaz, y peleó contra Israel.

And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.

Mas fue pasado a cuchillo por los hijos de Israel, y ocupada su tierra desde Arnón hasta Jecob, y hasta los confines de los hijos de Ammón; porque las fronteras de los ammonitas estaban defendidas con fuertes guarniciones.

E hirióle Israel á filo de espada, y tomó su tierra desde Arnón hasta Jaboc, hasta los hijos de Ammón: porque el término de los hijos de Ammón era fuerte.

And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.

Israel struck him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even to the children of Ammon; for the border of the children of Ammon was fortified.

Se le apoderó, pues, Israel, de todas las ciudades, y ocupó las fortalezas de los amorreos, es a saber, Hesebón y sus aldehuelas.

Y tomó Israel todas estas ciudades: y habitó Israel en todas las ciudades del Amorrheo, en Hesbón y en todas sus aldeas.

And Israel took all these cities: and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof.

La ciudad de Hesebón había venido a ser de Sehón, rey de los amorreos, quien hizo guerra contra el rey de Moab, y se apoderó de toda la tierra que había sido de su dominio hasta Arnón.

Porque Hesbón era la ciudad de Sehón, rey de los Amorrheos; el cual había tenido guerra antes con el rey de Moab, y tomado de su poder toda su tierra hasta Arnón.

For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.

De donde quedó el proverbio: Venid a Hesebón: fortifíquese y restáurese la ciudad para el rey Sehón;

Por tanto, dicen los proverbistas: Venid á Hesbón, edifíquese y repárese la ciudad de Sehón:

Wherefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared:

Therefore those who speak in proverbs say, “Come to Heshbon. Let the city of Sihon be built and established;

Salió fuego de Hesebón y llamas del castillo de Sehón y abrasaron a Ar de los moabitas y a los moradores de las alturas de Arnón.

Que fuego salió de Hesbón, y llama de la ciudad de Sehón, y consumió á Ar de Moab, á los señores de los altos de Arnón.

For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon.

for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, The lords of the high places of the Arnon.

¡Ay de ti, Moab! ¡Pereciste, oh pueblo de Camos! Camos, vuestro Dios ha entregado sus hijos a la fuga, y sus hijas al cautiverio de Sehón, rey de los amorreos.

¡Ay de ti, Moab! Perecido has, pueblo de Chêmos: puso sus hijos en huída, y sus hijas en cautividad, por Sehón rey de los Amorrheos.

Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.

Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites.

Queda roto el yugo que los oprimía desde Hesebón hasta Dibón: sin aliento llegaron a Nofe, y no pararon hasta Medaba.

Mas devastamos el reino de ellos; pereció Hesbón hasta Dibón, y destruimos hasta Nopha y Medeba.

We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.

Los israelitas, pues, ocuparon el país del amorreo.

Así habitó Israel en la tierra del Amorrheo.

Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.

Moisés entretanto envió exploradores a Jazer; cuyos lugares tomaron y se hicieron dueños de los habitantes.

Y envió Moisés á reconocer á Jazer; y tomaron sus aldeas, y echaron al Amorrheo que estaba allí.

And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there.

Dando después la vuelta, subieron por el camino de Basán, y les salió al encuentro Og, rey de Basán, con toda su gente para atacarlos en Edrai.

And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei.

Pero dijo el Señor a Moisés: No le temas, porque en tus manos le tengo entregado a él y a todo su pueblo y tierra, y harás con él lo mismo que hiciste con Sehón, rey de los amorreos, que habitaba en Hesebón.

Entonces Jehová dijo á Moisés: No le tengas miedo, que en tu mano lo he dado, á él y á todo su pueblo, y á su tierra; y harás de él como hiciste de Sehón, rey de los Amorrheos, que habitaba en Hesbón.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.

The LORD said to Moses, “Don’t fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people, and his land. You shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”

Mataron, pues, también a este rey con sus hijos y a toda su gente sin dejar hombre a vida, y se apoderaron de su tierra.

E hirieron á él, y á sus hijos, y á toda su gente, sin que le quedara uno, y poseyeron su tierra.

So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land.

So they struck him, with his sons and all his people, until there were no survivors; and they possessed his land.
