Als nun der kanaanäische König von Arad, der im Südland wohnte, die Kunde erhielt, daß die Israeliten auf dem Wege von Atharim heranzögen, griff er die Israeliten an und nahm einige von ihnen gefangen.

Y OYENDO el Cananeo, el rey de Arad, el cual habitaba al mediodía, que venía Israel por el camino de los centinelas, peleó con Israel, y tomó de él presa.

And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.

Da legten die Israeliten ein Gelübde vor dem HERRN ab und versprachen: »Wenn du dieses Volk in unsere Gewalt gibst, so wollen wir an ihren Ortschaften den Bann vollstrecken.«

Entonces Israel hizo voto á Jehová, y dijo: Si en efecto entregares á este pueblo en mi mano, yo destruiré sus ciudades.

And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.

Da erhörte der HERR die Bitte der Israeliten und gab ihnen die Kanaanäer preis. Man vollstreckte dann an ihnen und ihren Ortschaften den Bann und nannte die Stätte seitdem Horma.

Y Jehová escuchó la voz de Israel, y entregó al Cananeo, y destruyólos á ellos y á sus ciudades; y llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Horma.

Dann brachen sie vom Berge Hor auf in der Richtung nach dem Schilfmeer, um das Land der Edomiter zu umgehen. Unterwegs aber wurde das Volk mißmutig

Y partieron del monte de Hor, camino del mar Bermejo, para rodear la tierra de Edom; y abatióse el ánimo del pueblo por el camino.

And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.

und erhob Anklage gegen Gott und gegen Mose: »Warum habt ihr uns aus Ägypten hierher geführt? Um uns in der Wüste sterben zu lassen? Es gibt hier ja weder Brot noch Wasser, und uns ekelt vor diesem erbärmlichen Brotzeug!«

Y habló el pueblo contra Dios y Moisés: ¿Por qué nos hiciste subir de Egipto para que muramos en este desierto? que ni hay pan, ni agua, y nuestra alma tiene fastidio de este pan tan liviano.

And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

The people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!”

Da sandte der HERR feurige Schlangen unter das Volk; die bissen die Leute, so daß zahlreiche Israeliten starben.

Y Jehová envió entre el pueblo serpientes ardientes, que mordían al pueblo: y murió mucho pueblo de Israel.

And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

Da kam das Volk zu Mose und bekannte: »Wir haben gesündigt, daß wir Anklagen gegen den HERRN und gegen dich erhoben haben; lege Fürbitte beim HERRN ein, daß er uns von den Schlangen befreie!« Als Mose nun Fürbitte für das Volk einlegte,

Entonces el pueblo vino á Moisés, y dijeron: Pecado hemos por haber hablado contra Jehová, y contra ti: ruega á Jehová que quite de nosotros estas serpientes. Y Moisés oró por el pueblo.

Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.

The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD and against you. Pray to the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.

sagte der HERR zu ihm: »Fertige dir ein Schlangenbild an und befestige es an einer Stange; wer dann gebissen ist und es anschaut, soll am Leben bleiben.«

Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Hazte una serpiente ardiente, y ponla sobre la bandera: y será que cualquiera que fuere mordido y mirare á ella, vivirá.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

The LORD said to Moses, “Make a venomous snake, and set it on a pole. It shall happen that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”

Da fertigte Mose eine eherne Schlange an und befestigte sie oben an einer Stange. Wenn nun eine Schlange jemanden gebissen hatte und er auf die eherne Schlange hinschaute, so blieb er am Leben.

Y Moisés hizo una serpiente de metal, y púsola sobre la bandera: y fué, que cuando alguna serpiente mordía á alguno, miraba á la serpiente de metal, y vivía.

And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

Darauf zogen die Israeliten weiter und lagerten bei Oboth.

Y partieron los hijos de Israel, y asentaron campo en Oboth.

And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in Oboth.

Dann zogen sie von Oboth weiter und lagerten bei Ijje-Abarim in der Wüste, die vor dem Lande der Moabiter nach Osten liegt.

Y partidos de Oboth, asentaron en Ije-abarim, en el desierto que está delante de Moab, al nacimiento del sol.

And they journeyed from Oboth, and pitched at Ije-abarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrising.

From thence they removed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts of the Amorites: for Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

und den Abhang der Bachtäler, der bis in die Gegend von Ar reicht und sich an die Grenze von Moab anlehnt.«

Y á la corriente de los arroyos que va á parar en Ar, y descansa en el término de Moab.

And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab.

the slope of the valleys that incline toward the dwelling of Ar, leans on the border of Moab.”

Von dort (zogen sie) dann nach Beer; das ist der Brunnen, den der HERR meinte, als er zu Mose sagte: »Versammle das Volk, damit ich ihm Wasser gebe.«

Y de allí vinieron á Beer: este es el pozo del cual Jehová dijo á Moisés: Junta el pueblo, y les daré agua.

And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the LORD spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.

From there they traveled to Beer; that is the well of which the LORD said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.”

Damals sangen die Israeliten folgendes Lied: »Quill empor, o Brunnen! Singt ihm zu:

Then Israel sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it:

›O Brunnen, den Fürsten gegraben, den die Edlen des Volks erschlossen haben mit dem Zepter, mit ihren Stäben!‹« Aus der Wüste (zogen sie) dann nach Matthana,

Pozo, el cual cavaron los señores; caváronlo los príncipes del pueblo, y el legislador, con sus bordones. Y del desierto vinieron á Mathana:

The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by the direction of the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah:

the well, which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their poles.” From the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;

von Matthana nach Nahaliel, von Nahaliel nach Bamoth,

von Bamoth in das Tal, das in der moabitischen Ebene liegt an der Höhe des Pisga, der auf die weite Einöde hinabblickt.

Y de Bamoth al valle que está en los campos de Moab, y á la cumbre de Pisga, que mira á Jesimón.

And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshimon.

Darauf sandten die Israeliten Boten zu Sihon, dem König der Amoriter, und ließen ihm sagen:

Y envió Israel embajadores á Sehón, rey de los Amorrheos, diciendo:

»Gestatte uns den Durchzug durch dein Land! Wir wollen nicht auf die Äcker und in die Weinberge abbiegen, auch kein Wasser aus den Brunnen trinken; nein, wir wollen auf der Königsstraße ziehen, bis wir dein Gebiet durchzogen haben.«

Pasaré por tu tierra: no nos apartaremos por los labrados, ni por las viñas; no beberemos las aguas de los pozos: por el camino real iremos, hasta que pasemos tu término.

Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king’s high way, until we be past thy borders.

“Let me pass through your land. We will not turn away into field or vineyard. We will not drink of the water of the wells. We will go by the king’s highway, until we have passed your border.”

Aber Sihon gestattete den Israeliten den Durchzug durch sein Gebiet nicht, sondern sammelte sein gesamtes Kriegsvolk und zog den Israeliten in die Wüste entgegen; und als er nach Jahaz gekommen war, griff er die Israeliten an.

Mas Sehón no dejó pasar á Israel por su término: antes juntó Sehón todo su pueblo, y salió contra Israel en el desierto: y vino á Jahaz, y peleó contra Israel.

And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.

Diese aber schlugen ihn mit der Schärfe des Schwertes und eroberten sein Land vom Arnon bis zum Jabbok, bis an das Land der Ammoniter; denn Jaser liegt an der Grenze des Ammoniterlandes.

And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.

So nahmen denn die Israeliten alle dortigen Städte ein und ließen sich in allen Städten der Amoriter nieder, in Hesbon und allen dazugehörigen Ortschaften.

Y tomó Israel todas estas ciudades: y habitó Israel en todas las ciudades del Amorrheo, en Hesbón y en todas sus aldeas.

Denn Hesbon war die Hauptstadt des Amoriterkönigs Sihon; dieser hatte nämlich mit dem vorigen Könige der Moabiter Krieg geführt und ihm sein ganzes Land bis an den Arnon abgenommen.

Porque Hesbón era la ciudad de Sehón, rey de los Amorrheos; el cual había tenido guerra antes con el rey de Moab, y tomado de su poder toda su tierra hasta Arnón.

For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.

Darum singen die Dichter: Kommt nach Hesbon! Aufgebaut und befestigt werde die Stadt Sihons!

Por tanto, dicen los proverbistas: Venid á Hesbón, edifíquese y repárese la ciudad de Sehón:

Wherefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared:

Denn Feuer ging (einst) aus von Hesbon, eine Flamme von der Stadt Sihons; die fraß die Städte Moabs und verbrannte die Höhen am Arnon.

Que fuego salió de Hesbón, y llama de la ciudad de Sehón, y consumió á Ar de Moab, á los señores de los altos de Arnón.

For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon.

for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, The lords of the high places of the Arnon.

Wehe dir, Moab! Dem Untergang geweiht bist du, Volk des Kamos, der seine Söhne zu Flüchtlingen gemacht hat und seine Töchter zu Gefangenen für Sihon, den Amoriterkönig.

¡Ay de ti, Moab! Perecido has, pueblo de Chêmos: puso sus hijos en huída, y sus hijas en cautividad, por Sehón rey de los Amorrheos.

Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.

Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites.

Da haben wir (Moab) niedergeschossen, Hesbon ist verlorengegangen bis Dibon; da haben wir verwüstet bis Nophah: Feuer ging aus bis Medeba.

Als sich nun die Israeliten im Lande der Amoriter festgesetzt hatten,

sandte Mose Männer aus, um Jaser auszukundschaften, und sie nahmen dann die Stadt und die dazugehörigen Ortschaften ein, und man vertrieb die dort ansässigen Amoriter.

Y envió Moisés á reconocer á Jazer; y tomaron sus aldeas, y echaron al Amorrheo que estaba allí.

And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there.

Hierauf wandten sie sich und zogen in der Richtung nach Basan hinauf. Da rückte Og, der König von Basan, mit seinem gesamten Kriegsvolk ihnen nach Edrei entgegen, um ihnen eine Schlacht zu liefern.

Der HERR aber sagte zu Mose: »Fürchte dich nicht vor ihm! Denn ich habe ihn mit seinem ganzen Volk und seinem Land in deine Gewalt gegeben: verfahre mit ihm so, wie du mit dem Amoriterkönig Sihon, der in Hesbon wohnte, verfahren bist.«

And the LORD said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.

The LORD said to Moses, “Don’t fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people, and his land. You shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”

Da erschlugen sie ihn nebst seinen Söhnen und seinem ganzen Kriegsvolk, so daß ihm auch nicht einer übrigblieb, der entronnen wäre, und nahmen sein Land in Besitz.

So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land.
