1Und die Söhne Israels, die ganze Gemeinde, kamen in die Wüste Zin im ersten Monate, und das Volk wohnte in Kadesch; und Mirjam starb allda und ward allda begraben.
2Und die Gemeinde hatte kein Wasser; und sie versammelten sich wider Mose und wider Aharon.
3Und das Volk haderte mit Mose und sie sprachen und sagten: Ach, hätten wir doch dürfen verscheiden bei dem Verscheiden unserer Brüder vor Jehovah.
4Und wozu habt ihr die Versammlung Jehovahs in diese Wüste hereingebracht, auf daß wir darin sterben, wir und unser Vieh?
5Und warum habt ihr uns aus Ägypten heraufgebracht, um uns an diesen schlechten Ort hereinzubringen, wo kein Ort ist zur Saat, noch Feigenbaum, noch Weinstock, noch Granatbaum, noch Wasser zum trinken ist?
6Und Mose und Aharon gingen von der Versammlung hinein nach dem Eingang des Versammlungszeltes und fielen auf ihr Angesicht; und die Herrlichkeit Jehovahs erschien ihnen.
7Und Jehovah redete zu Mose und sprach:
8Nimm den Stab und versammle die Gemeinde, du und dein Bruder Aharon, und redet zu dem Felsen vor ihren Augen, daß er sein Wasser gebe. Und du sollst für sie Wasser aus dem Felsen hervorbringen und die Gemeinde und ihr Vieh tränken.
9Und Mose nahm den Stab vor dem Angesichte Jehovahs, wie Er ihm geboten hatte.
10Und Mose und Aharon ließen die Versammlung vor dem Felsen sich versammeln und er sprach zu ihnen: So höret denn, ihr Widerspenstigen! Sollen wir aus dem Felsen da für euch Wasser hervorbringen?
11Und Mose hob seine Hand empor und schlug den Felsen zweimal mit seinem Stab. Und viele Wasser kamen heraus, und die Gemeinde trank und ihr Vieh.
12Und Jehovah sprach zu Mose und zu Aharon: Darum, daß ihr nicht an Mich geglaubt habt, daß ihr Mich heiligtet vor den Augen der Söhne Israels, deshalb sollt ihr diese Versammlung nicht zum Land hineinbringen, das Ich ihnen gegeben habe.
13Dies sind die Wasser des Haders, den die Söhne Israels haderten mit Jehovah und Er heiligte Sich unter ihnen.
14Und Mose sandte von Kadesch Boten an den König von Edom: So spricht dein Bruder Israel: Du weißt all das Mühsal, das uns getroffen hat;
15Und unsre Väter gingen hinab nach Ägypten und wir wohnten viele Tage in Ägypten, und die Ägypter taten übel an uns und an unseren Vätern;
16Und wir schrien zu Jehovah, und Er hörte unsere Stimme und sandte einen Engel und brachte uns aus Ägypten heraus, und siehe, wir sind in Kadesch, einer Stadt am Ende deiner Grenze.
17Laß uns durch dein Land durchziehen. Wir wollen nicht durch Feld und durch Weinberg gehen, und nicht Wasser aus den Brunnen trinken, sondern auf dem Wege des Königs gehen, nicht rechts oder links ablenken, bis wir deine Grenze durchzogen haben.
18Edom aber sprach zu ihm: Du sollst nicht durch mich hindurchziehen, sonst gehe ich mit dem Schwerte aus dir entgegen.
19Und die Söhne Israels sprachen zu ihm: Auf der Landstraße wollen wir hinaufziehen, und wenn wir von deinem Wasser trinken, ich und meine Viehherden, so will ich dir den Preis dafür geben. Das ist nichts nur zu Fuß will ich durchziehen.
20Er aber sprach: Du sollst nicht durchziehen; und Edom ging aus mit schwerem Volk und starker Hand ihm entgegen.
21Und Edom weigerte sich, Israel zu gewähren durch seine Grenzen durchzuziehen, und Israel lenkte von ihm ab.
22Und sie brachen auf von Kadesch, und die Söhne Israels, die ganze Gemeinde, kamen nach dem Berge Hor.
23Und Jehovah sprach zu Mose und zu Aharon an dem Berge Hor, an der Grenze des Landes Edom, und er sprach:
24Aharon soll versammelt werden zu seinem Volke; denn er soll nicht in das Land hineinkommen, das Ich den Söhnen Israels gegeben habe, darum, daß ihr an dem Haderwasser gegen Meinen Befehl widerspenstig waret.
25Nimm Aharon und Eleasar, seinen Sohn, und laß sie hinaufgehen auf den Berg Hor.
26Und laß Aharon seine Kleider ausziehen und ziehe sie Eleasar, seinem Sohne an, und Aharon soll gesammelt werden und sterben allda.
27Und Mose tat, wie Jehovah geboten hatte, und sie stiegen hinauf auf den Berg Hor vor den Augen der ganzen Gemeinde.
28Und Mose zog dem Aharon seine Kleider aus und zog sie Eleasar, seinem Sohne, an; und Aharon starb daselbst auf der Spitze des Berges; und Mose und Eleasar kamen vom Berge herab.
29Und die ganze Gemeinde sah, daß Aharon verschieden, und sie beweinten den Aharon dreißig Tage, das ganze Haus Israel.

1Y LLEGARON los hijos de Israel, toda la congregación, al desierto de Zin, en el mes primero, y asentó el pueblo en Cades; y allí murió María, y fué allí sepultada.
2Y como no hubiese agua para la congregación, juntáronse contra Moisés y Aarón.
3Y regañó el pueblo con Moisés, y hablaron diciendo: ¡Ojalá que nosotros hubiéramos muerto cuando perecieron nuestros hermanos delante de Jehová!
4¿Y por qué hiciste venir la congregación de Jehová á este desierto, para que muramos aquí nosotros y nuestras bestias?
5¿Y por qué nos has hecho subir de Egipto, para traernos á este mal lugar? No es lugar de sementera, de higueras, de viñas, ni granadas: ni aun de agua para beber.
6Y fuéronse Moisés y Aarón de delante de la congregación á la puerta del tabernáculo del testimonio, y echáronse sobre sus rostros; y la gloria de Jehová apareció sobre ellos.
7Y habló Jehová á Moisés, diciendo:
8Toma la vara, y reune la congregación, tú y Aarón tu hermano, y hablad á la peña en ojos de ellos; y ella dará su agua, y les sacarás aguas de la peña, y darás de beber á la congregación, y á sus bestias.
9Entonces Moisés tomó la vara de delante de Jehová, como él le mandó.
10Y juntaron Moisés y Aarón la congregación delante de la peña, y díjoles: Oid ahora, rebeldes: ¿os hemos de hacer salir aguas de esta peña?
11Entonces alzó Moisés su mano, é hirió la peña con su vara dos veces: y salieron muchas aguas, y bebió la congregación, y sus bestias.
12Y Jehová dijo á Moisés y á Aarón: Por cuanto no creísteis en mí, para santificarme en ojos de los hijos de Israel, por tanto, no meteréis esta congregación en la tierra que les he dado.
13Estas son las aguas de la rencilla, por las cuales contendieron los hijos de Israel con Jehová, y él se santificó en ellos.
14Y envió Moisés embajadores al rey de Edom desde Cades: Así dice Israel tu hermano: Tú has sabido todo el trabajo que nos ha venido:
15Cómo nuestros padres descendieron á Egipto, y estuvimos en Egipto largo tiempo, y los Egipcios nos maltrataron, y á nuestros padres;
16Y clamamos á Jehová, el cual oyó nuestra voz, y envió ángel, y sacónos de Egipto; y he aquí estamos en Cades, ciudad al extremo de tus confines:
17Rogámoste que pasemos por tu tierra; no pasaremos por labranza, ni por viña, ni beberemos agua de pozos: por el camino real iremos, sin apartarnos á la diestra ni á la siniestra, hasta que hayamos pasado tu término.
18Y Edom le respondió: No pasarás por mi país, de otra manera saldré contra ti armado.
19Y los hijos de Israel dijeron: Por el camino seguido iremos; y si bebiéremos tus aguas yo y mis ganados, daré el precio de ellas: ciertamente sin hacer otra cosa, pasaré de seguida.
20Y él respondió: No pasarás. Y salió Edom contra él con mucho pueblo, y mano fuerte.
21No quiso, pues, Edom dejar pasar á Israel por su término, y apartóse Israel de él.
22Y partidos de Cades los hijos de Israel, toda aquella congregación, vinieron al monte de Hor.
23Y Jehová habló á Moisés y Aarón en el monte de Hor, en los confines de la tierra de Edom, diciendo:
24Aarón será reunido á sus pueblos; pues no entrará en la tierra que yo di á los hijos de Israel, por cuanto fuisteis rebeldes á mi mandamiento en las aguas de la rencilla.
25Toma á Aarón y á Eleazar su hijo, y hazlos subir al monte de Hor;
26Y haz desnudar á Aarón sus vestidos, y viste de ellos á Eleazar su hijo; porque Aarón será reunido á sus pueblos, y allí morirá.
27Y Moisés hizo como Jehová le mandó: y subieron al monte de Hor á ojos de toda la congregación.
28Y Moisés hizo desnudar á Aarón de sus vestidos y vistiólos á Eleazar su hijo: y Aarón murió allí en la cumbre del monte: y Moisés y Eleazar descendieron del monte.
29Y viendo toda la congregación que Aarón era muerto, hiciéronle duelo por treinta días todas las familias de Israel.

1Then came the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
2And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.
3And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!
4And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there?
5And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.
6And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.
7And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
8Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.
9And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.
10And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?
11And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
12And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.
13This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.
14And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us:
15How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians vexed us, and our fathers:
16And when we cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:
17Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king’s high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.
18And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.
19And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing any thing else, go through on my feet.
20And he said, Thou shalt not go through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.
21Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him.
22And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, journeyed from Kadesh, and came unto mount Hor.
23And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, saying,
24Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.
25Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor:
26And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there.
27And Moses did as the LORD commanded: and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
28And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount.
29And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.

1The children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month. The people stayed in Kadesh. Miriam died there, and was buried there.
2There was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.
3The people quarreled with Moses, and spoke, saying, “We wish that we had died when our brothers died before the LORD!
4Why have you brought the LORD’s assembly into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our animals?
5Why have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.”
6Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and fell on their faces. The LORD’s glory appeared to them.
7The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
8“Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it pour out its water. You shall bring water to them out of the rock; so you shall give the congregation and their livestock drink.”
9Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.
10Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Shall we bring water out of this rock for you?”
11Moses lifted up his hand, and struck the rock with his rod twice, and water came out abundantly. The congregation and their livestock drank.
12The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you didn’t believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”
13These are the waters of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.
14Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying: “Your brother Israel says: You know all the travail that has happened to us;
15how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we lived in Egypt a long time. The Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers.
16When we cried to the LORD, he heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the edge of your border.
17“Please let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink from the water of the wells. We will go along the king’s highway. We will not turn away to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your border.”
18Edom said to him, “You shall not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against you.”
19The children of Israel said to him, “We will go up by the highway; and if we drink your water, I and my livestock, then I will give its price. Only let me, without doing anything else, pass through on my feet.”
20He said, “You shall not pass through.” Edom came out against him with many people, and with a strong hand.
21Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border, so Israel turned away from him.
22They traveled from Kadesh, and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came to Mount Hor.
23The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying,
24“Aaron shall be gathered to his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah.
25Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up to Mount Hor;
26and strip Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron shall be gathered, and shall die there.”
27Moses did as the LORD commanded. They went up onto Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
28Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron died there on the top of the mountain, and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
29When all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they wept for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.
