El lugar fue llamado Meribá (Aguas de la rencillas), porque allí el pueblo de Israel se rebeló contra el Señor, y allí les mostró que era un Dios santo.

Estas son las aguas de la rencilla, por las cuales contendieron los hijos de Israel con Jehová, y él se santificó en ellos.
