No primeiro dia do segundo mês do segundo ano depois que os israelitas saíram do Egito, o Senhor deu as seguintes ordens a Moisés, no Tabernáculo, no deserto do Sinai:
Y HABLÓ Jehová á Moisés en el desierto de Sinaí, en el tabernáculo del testimonio, en el primero del mes segundo, en el segundo año de su salida de la tierra de Egipto, diciendo:

Esses foram os líderes das tribos dos seus antepassados, chefes dos grupos de famílias, escolhidos dentre a comunidade de Israel.

“Você não deve fazer o recenseamento da tribo de Levi nem relacione o número de levitas no total geral dos israelitas.
Solamente no contarás la tribu de Leví, ni tomarás la cuenta de ellos entre los hijos de Israel:
Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:
“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not count, neither shall you take a census of them among the children of Israel;
Mas diga aos levitas que se responsabilizem pelo cuidado do Tabernáculo, das tábuas da aliança, de todos os utensílios e por tudo o que pertence a ele. Eles levarão o Tabernáculo e todos os seus utensílios, e acamparão junto a ele.
Mas tú pondrás á los Levitas en el tabernáculo del testimonio, y sobre todos sus vasos, y sobre todas las cosas que le pertenecen: ellos llevarán el tabernáculo y todos sus vasos, y ellos servirán en él, y asentarán sus tiendas alrededor del tabernáculo.
But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.

Sempre que o Tabernáculo tiver de ser removido, só os levitas poderão desmontar e armar o Tabernáculo. Qualquer estranho não autorizado que se aproximar do Tabernáculo morrerá.
Y cuando el tabernáculo partiere, los Levitas lo desarmarán; y cuando el tabernáculo parare, los Levitas lo armarán: y el extraño que se llegare, morirá.
And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

Cada tribo de Israel terá o seu próprio acampamento e armará as suas tendas separadamente, segundo as suas divisões, e nesse lugar ficará a bandeira da tribo.
