1Und der Herr sprach zu Moses:
2"Sprich zum Aaronsohn, dem Priester Eleazar, er soll die Räucherpfannen von der Brandstatt nehmen und das Feuer von da zerstreuen!
3Weil die Frevler diese Räucherpfannen mit dem Verlust ihres Lebens geheiligt, so mache man aus ihnen Bleche und überziehe damit den Altar! Sie hatten sie ja vor den Herrn gebracht, und so heiligten sie sie. Sie seien den Söhnen Israels ein Wahrzeichen!"
4Da nahm der Priester Eleazar die kupfernen Räucherpfannen, die die Verbrannten hergebracht hatten, und man schlug sie breit zu einem Altarüberzug,
5ein Merkzeichen für die Israeliten, daß kein Unbefugter, der nicht zu Aarons Nachkommen gehört, das Recht hat, vor dem Herrn Räucherwerk darzubringen. Sonst geht es ihm wie Korach und seiner Rotte, wie ihm der Herr durch Moses angedroht hatte.
6Da murrte die ganze israelitische Gemeinde am anderen Morgen wider Moses und Aaron und sagte: "Ihr habt das Volk des Herrn bestürzt gemacht."
7Als sich nun die Gemeinde gegen Moses und Aaron zusammenrottete, wandten sich diese nach dem Festgezelt. Und schon hatte es die Wolke bedeckt. Da erschien die Herrlichkeit des Herrn.
8Moses und Aaron betraten das Festgezelt.
9Und der Herr sprach zu Moses:
10"Hebt euch weg aus der Gemeinde hier, daß ich sie im Nu vertilge!" Da fielen sie auf ihr Antlitz.
11Und Moses sprach zu Aaron: "Nimm die Räucherpfanne, tu vom Altar Feuer darein, lege Räucherwerk darauf und trag es schleunigst in die Gemeinde und schaff ihnen Sühne! Denn schon geht vom Herrn der Grimm ans. Die Pest hat begonnen."
12Da nahm es Aaron, wie Moses gesagt, und lief mitten unter die Gemeinde. Schon aber hatte die Pest unter dem Volke begonnen. Da räucherte er und schaffte dem Volk Sühne.
13Also stellte er sich zwischen die Toten und die Lebenden, und der Pest ward Einhalt getan. Aber der Pestleichen waren es 14.700, außer den um Korachs willen Umgekommenen. Aaron kehrte nun zu Moses an die Pforte des Festgezeltes zurück; der Pest war nämlich Einhalt getan worden. Und der Herr sprach zu Moses: "Rede mit den Söhnen Israels und nimm von ihnen je einen Stab von allen ihren Fürsten nach Familien, zwölf Stäbe! Und schreibe eines jeden Namen auf seinen Stab! Den Namen Aaron aber schreibe auf den Levistab! Denn ein besonderer Stab gehört dem Haupte der Familie. Dann leg sie im Festgezelt vor dem Zeugnis nieder, wo ich mich euch zu offenbaren pflege! Dann sproßt der Stab des Mannes, den ich auserwähle. So schlage ich von mir aus der Israeliten Murren wider euch nieder." Da redete Moses mit den Israeliten. Und alle ihre Fürsten, Stamm für Stamm, übergaben ihm für ihre Familien zwölf Stäbe, jeder Fürst einen Stab. Unter ihren Stäben war auch der Stab Aarons. Da legte Moses die Stäbe vor dem Herrn im Zeugniszelt nieder. Als aber am anderen Morgen Moses zum Zeugniszelt kam, hatte der Stab Aarons vom Hause Levi ausgeschlagen; er trieb Sprossen und Blüten und wies reife Mandeln auf. Da brachte Moses alle Stäbe vom Herrn weg zu allen Israeliten. Da sprach der Herr zu Moses: "Leg Aarons Stab vor dem Zeugnis nieder zur Verwahrung, den Widerspenstigen ein Zeichen, daß er von mir aus ihr Murren beende! Sonst müssen sie sterben." Moses tat so. Wie ihm der Herr befohlen, so hat er getan. Da sprachen die Israeliten zu Moses: "Wehe! Wir vergehen; wir schwinden; wir schwinden alle hin. Jeder, der herantritt, stirbt, wenn er des Herrn Wohnung nahekommt. Sollen wir ganz und gar umkommen?"

1Y HABLÓ Jehová á Moisés, diciendo:
2Habla á los hijos de Israel, y toma de ellos una vara por cada casa de los padres, de todos los príncipes de ellos, doce varas conforme á las casas de sus padres; y escribirás el nombre de cada uno sobre su vara.
3Y escribirás el nombre de Aarón sobre la vara de Leví; porque cada cabeza de familia de sus padres tendrá una vara.
4Y las pondrás en el tabernáculo del testimonio delante del testimonio, donde yo me declararé á vosotros.
5Y será, que el varón que yo escogiere, su vara florecerá: y haré cesar de sobre mí las quejas de los hijos de Israel, con que murmuran contra vosotros.
6Y Moisés habló á los hijos de Israel, y todos los príncipes de ellos le dieron varas; cada príncipe por las casas de sus padres una vara, en todas doce varas; y la vara de Aarón estaba entre las varas de ellos.
7Y Moisés puso las varas delante de Jehová en el tabernáculo del testimonio.
8Y aconteció que el día siguiente vino Moisés al tabernáculo del testimonio; y he aquí que la vara de Aarón de la casa de Leví había brotado, y echado flores, y arrojado renuevos, y producido almendras.
9Entonces sacó Moisés todas las varas de delante de Jehová á todos los hijos de Israel; y ellos lo vieron, y tomaron cada uno su vara.
10Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Vuelve la vara de Aarón delante del testimonio, para que se guarde por señal á los hijos rebeldes; y harás cesar sus quejas de sobre mí, porque no mueran.
11E hízolo Moisés: como le mandó Jehová, así hizo.
12Entonces los hijos de Israel hablaron á Moisés, diciendo: He aquí nosotros somos muertos, perdidos somos, todos nosotros somos perdidos.
13Cualquiera que se llegare, el que se acercare al tabernáculo de Jehová morirá: ¿acabaremos de perecer todos?

1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod.
3And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.
4And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.
5And it shall come to pass, that the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.
6And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
7And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness.
8And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
9And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.
10And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
11And Moses did so: as the LORD commanded him, so did he.
12And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.
13Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the LORD shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?
World English Bible
1The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
2“Speak to the children of Israel, and take rods from them, one for each fathers’ house, of all their princes according to their fathers’ houses, twelve rods. Write each man’s name on his rod.
3You shall write Aaron’s name on Levi’s rod. There shall be one rod for each head of their fathers’ houses.
4You shall lay them up in the Tent of Meeting before the covenant, where I meet with you.
5It shall happen that the rod of the man whom I shall choose shall bud. I will make the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against you, cease from me.”
6Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and all their princes gave him rods, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, a total of twelve rods. Aaron’s rod was among their rods.
7Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the Tent of the Testimony.
8On the next day, Moses went into the Tent of the Testimony; and behold, Aaron’s rod for the house of Levi had sprouted, budded, produced blossoms, and bore ripe almonds.
9Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD to all the children of Israel. They looked, and each man took his rod.
10The LORD said to Moses, “Put back the rod of Aaron before the covenant, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that you may make an end of their complaining against me, that they not die.”
11Moses did so. As the LORD commanded him, so he did.
12The children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, “Behold, we perish! We are undone! We are all undone!
13Everyone who keeps approaching the LORD’s tabernacle, dies! Will we all perish?”
