Nehemías 8

1versammelte sich das ganze Volk einmütig auf dem Platze vor dem Wassertor, und man ersuchte Esra, den Schriftgelehrten, das Buch mit dem Gesetze Moses herzubringen, welches der Herr den Israeliten gegeben hatte. (a) Esr 7:6
2Da brachte der Priester Esra das Gesetz vor die Gemeinde, vor Männer und Frauen, vor alle, die es fassen konnten, am ersten Tage des siebenten Monats. (a) 5Mo 31:10-12
3Und er las daraus auf dem Platze vor dem Wassertor vom frühen Morgen bis zum Mittag in Gegenwart von Männern und Frauen, überhaupt aller, die es verstehen konnten, indem die Aufmerksamkeit des ganzen Volkes auf das Gesetzbuch gerichtet war.
4Esra aber, der Schriftgelehrte, stand auf einem hohen Holzgerüst, das man für diesen Anlass errichtet hatte, und neben ihm standen: zur Rechten Matthithja, Sema, Anaja, Uria, Hilkia und Maaseja, zur Linken aber Pedaja, Misael, Malchia, Hasum, Hasbaddana, Sacharja und Mesullam.
5Und Esra schlug das Buch vor den Augen des ganzen Volkes auf; er stand nämlich höher als alles Volk. Und als er es aufschlug, erhob sich das ganze Volk.
6Darnach pries Esra den Herrn, den grossen Gott. Und alles Volk antwortete mit erhobenen Händen: Amen! Amen! Dann warfen sie sich nieder und neigten ihr Angesicht vor dem Herrn zur Erde.
7Auch Jesua, Bani, Serebja, Jamin, Akkub, Sabbethai, Hodia, Maaseja, Kelita, Asarja, Josabad, Hanan und Pelaja, die Leviten, unterwiesen die Leute im Gesetz, während diese an Ort und Stelle verharrten.
8So las man denn aus dem Buche des Gesetzes Gottes Abschnitt für Abschnitt vor und erläuterte es, sodass die Leute auf die Vorlesung achthatten.
9Und der Statthalter Nehemia sowie der Priester Esra, der Schriftgelehrte, und die Leviten, die das Volk belehrten, sprachen zu ihnen allen: Dieser Tag ist dem Herrn, eurem Gott, heilig. Seid nicht traurig und weinet nicht! Das ganze Volk weinte nämlich, als es die Worte des Gesetzes vernahm.
10Darum sprach er zu ihnen: Gehet hin, erlabet euch an guter Kost und süssem Getränk und sendet davon auch denen, die nichts haben, denn der Tag ist unsrem Herrn heilig. Seid daher nicht bekümmert; die Freude am Herrn ist eure Zuflucht. (a) 5Mo 16:14
11Und die Leviten hielten das ganze Volk zum Schweigen an und sprachen: Seid stille - denn der Tag ist heilig - und seid nicht bekümmert!
12Da ging alles Volk hin, zu essen und zu trinken und andern davon mitzuteilen und sich grosser Festfreude hinzugeben; denn sie hatten auf die Worte gemerkt, die man ihnen kundgetan.
13Am zweiten Tage versammelten sich die Familienhäupter des ganzen Volkes samt den Priestern und Leviten bei Esra, dem Schriftgelehrten, um die Worte des Gesetzes kennenzulernen.
14Und sie fanden im Gesetz, das der Herr durch Mose gegeben hatte, geschrieben, dass die Israeliten an dem Feste im siebenten Monat in Laubhütten wohnen sollten (a) 3Mo 23:34-43
15und dass man in allen ihren Städten und zu Jerusalem kundtun und ausrufen solle: Ziehet hinaus ins Gebirge und holet Zweige vom edlen und vom wilden Ölbaum, von Myrten, Palmen und andern dichtbelaubten Bäumen, dass man Laubhütten mache, wie geschrieben steht.
16Da zog das Volk hinaus und holte sich's und machte sich Hütten, ein jeder auf seinem Dache und in den Höfen, auch in den Vorhöfen des Tempels und auf dem Platz beim Wassertor und auf dem Platz beim Ephraimtor.
17Die ganze Gemeinde, alle, die aus der Gefangenschaft zurückgekehrt waren, machten Laubhütten und wohnten darin. Denn seit der Zeit Josuas, des Sohnes Nuns, bis auf jenen Tag hatten die Israeliten es nicht mehr so gehalten. Und es herrschte sehr grosse Freude.
18Und Tag für Tag las Esra aus dem Gesetzbuch Gottes vor, vom ersten Tage an bis zum letzten. Sie begingen das Fest sieben Tage lang und am achten Tage die Festversammlung, wie es sich gebührt.

1Y JUNTÓSE todo el pueblo como un solo hombre en la plaza que está delante de la puerta de las Aguas, y dijeron á Esdras el escriba, que trajese el libro de la ley de Moisés, la cual mandó Jehová á Israel.
2Y Esdras el sacerdote, trajo la ley delante de la congregación, así de hombres como de mujeres, y de todo entendido para escuchar, el primer día del mes séptimo.
3Y leyó en el libro delante de la plaza que está delante de la puerta de las Aguas, desde el alba hasta el medio día, en presencia de hombres y mujeres y entendidos; y los oídos de todo el pueblo estaban atentos al libro de la ley.
4Y Esdras el escriba estaba sobre un púlpito de madera, que habían hecho para ello; y junto á él estaban Mathithías, y Sema, y Anías, y Urías, é Hilcías, y Maasías, á su mano derecha; y á su mano izquierda, Pedaía, Misael, y Malchîas, y Hasum, y Hasbedana, Zachârías, y Mesullam.
5Abrió pues Esdras el libro á ojos de todo el pueblo, (porque estaba más alto que todo el pueblo); y como lo abrió, todo el pueblo estuvo atento.
6Bendijo entonces Esdras á Jehová, Dios grande. Y todo el pueblo respondió, ¡Amén! ¡Amén! alzando sus manos; y humilláronse, y adoraron á Jehová inclinados á tierra.
7Y Jesuá, y Bani, y Serebías, Jamín, Accub, Sabethai, Odías, Maasías, Celita, Azarías, Jozabed, Hanán, Pelaía, Levitas, hacían entender al pueblo la ley: y el pueblo estaba en su lugar.
8Y leían en el libro de la ley de Dios claramente, y ponían el sentido, de modo que entendiesen la lectura.
9Y Nehemías el Tirsatha, y el sacerdote Esdras, escriba, y los Levitas que hacían entender al pueblo, dijeron á todo el pueblo: Día santo es á Jehová nuestro Dios; no os entristezcáis, ni lloréis: porque todo el pueblo lloraba oyendo las palabras de la ley.
10Díjoles luego: Id, comed grosuras, y bebed vino dulce, y enviad porciones á los que no tienen prevenido; porque día santo es á nuestro Señor: y no os entristezcáis, porque el gozo de Jehová es vuestra fortaleza.
11Los Levitas pues, hacían callar á todo el pueblo, diciendo: Callad, que es día santo, y no os entristezcáis.
12Y todo el pueblo se fué á comer y á beber, y á enviar porciones, y á gozar de grande alegría, porque habían entendido las palabras que les habían enseñado.
13Y el día siguiente se juntaron los príncipes de las familias de todo el pueblo, sacerdotes, y Levitas, á Esdras escriba, para entender las palabras de la ley.
14Y hallaron escrito en la ley que Jehová había mandado por mano de Moisés, que habitasen los hijos de Israel en cabañas en la solemnidad del mes séptimo;
15Y que hiciesen saber, y pasar pregón por todas sus ciudades y por Jerusalem, diciendo: Salid al monte, y traed ramos de oliva, y ramos de pino, y ramos de arrayán, y ramos de palmas, y ramos de todo árbol espeso, para hacer cabañas como está escrito.
16Salió pues el pueblo, y trajeron, é hiciéronse cabañas, cada uno sobre su terrado, y en sus patios, y en los patios de la casa de Dios, y en la plaza de la puerta de las Aguas, y en la plaza de la puerta de Ephraim.
17Y toda la congregación que volvió de la cautividad hicieron cabañas, y en cabañas habitaron; porque desde los días de Josué hijo de Nun hasta aquel día, no habían hecho así los hijos de Israel. Y hubo alegría muy grande.
18Y leyó Esdras en el libro de la ley de Dios cada día, desde el primer día hasta el postrero; é hicieron la solemnidad por siete días, y al octavo día congregación, según el rito.

1And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
2And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.
3And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.
4And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
5And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
6And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
7Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.
8So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
9And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
10Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
11So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.
12And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.
13And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
14And they found written in the law which the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:
15And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.
16So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.
17And all the congregation of them that were come again out of the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths: for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel done so. And there was very great gladness.
18Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.

1All the people gathered themselves together as one man into the wide place that was in front of the water gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
2Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, both men and women, and all who could hear with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month.
3He read from it before the wide place that was in front of the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women, and of those who could understand. The ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.
4Ezra the scribe stood on a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

10Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared, for today is holy to our Lord. Don’t be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
11So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Hold your peace, for the day is holy. Don’t be grieved.”
12All the people went their way to eat, to drink, to send portions, and to celebrate, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.
13On the second day, the heads of fathers’ households of all the people, the priests, and the Levites were gathered together to Ezra the scribe, to study the words of the law.
14They found written in the law how the LORD had commanded by Moses that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month;
15and that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities and in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the mountain, and get olive branches, branches of wild olive, myrtle branches, palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make temporary shelters, as it is written.”
16So the people went out and brought them, and made themselves temporary shelters, everyone on the roof of his house, in their courts, in the courts of God’s house, in the wide place of the water gate, and in the wide place of Ephraim’s gate.
17All the assembly of those who had come back out of the captivity made temporary shelters and lived in the temporary shelters, for since the days of Joshua the son of Nun to that day the children of Israel had not done so. There was very great gladness.
18Also day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. They kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance.
