Ahora cuando Sanbalat, Tobías y Gesem el Árabe y el resto de nuestros enemigos escucharon que yo había reconstruído el muro y que ya no quedaba ninguna sección rota, aunque todavá yo no había puesto las puertas.
Y FUÉ que habiendo oído Sanballat, y Tobías, y Gesem el Arabe, y los demás nuestros enemigos, que había yo edificado el muro, y que no quedaba en él portillo, (aunque hasta aquel tiempo no había puesto en las puertas las hojas,)
Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)
Now when it was reported to Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arabian, and to the rest of our enemies that I had built the wall, and that there was no breach left in it (though even to that time I had not set up the doors in the gates),
Sanbalat y Gesem me enviaron a decir: "Vengan, vamos a encontarnos en algún lugar en el llano Ono." Pero ellos intentaron hacerme daño.
Sanballat y Gesem enviaron á decirme: Ven, y compongámonos juntos en alguna de las aldeas en el campo de Ono. Mas ellos habían pensado hacerme mal.
That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.
Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, “Come! Let’s meet together in the villages in the plain of Ono.” But they intended to harm me.
Yo envié mensajeros a donde ellos diciendo: "Estoy haciendo una gran obra y no puedo bajar. ¿Por qué la obra debería detenerse mientras la dejo para bajar a donde ustedes?"
Y enviéles mensajeros, diciendo: Yo hago una grande obra, y no puedo ir; porque cesaría la obra, dejándola yo para ir á vosotros.
And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?
I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work, so that I can’t come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and come down to you?”
Ellos me enviaron el mismo mensaje cuatro veces, y yo les contesté de la misma forma cada vez.
Y enviaron á mí con el mismo asunto por cuatro veces, y yo les respondí de la misma manera.
Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.
They sent to me four times like this; and I answered them the same way.
Sanbalat envió su sirviente a donde mí de la misma manera la quinta vez, con una carta abierta en su mano.
Envió entonces Sanballat á mí su criado, á decir lo mismo por quinta vez, con una carta abierta en su mano,
Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;

En ella estaba escrito: "Ha sido reportado entre las naciones, y Gesem también lo dice, que tú y los Judíos están planificando rebelarse, por eso es que están reconstruyendo el muro. Según lo que dice este reporte, tú serás el rey de ellos.
En la cual estaba escrito: Hase oído entre las gentes, y Gasmu lo dice, que tú y los Judíos pensáis rebelaros; y que por eso edificas tú el muro, con la mira, según estas palabras, de ser tú su rey;
Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.
in which was written, “It is reported among the nations, and Gashmu says it, that you and the Jews intend to rebel. Because of that, you are building the wall. You would be their king, according to these words.
Y tú también has designado profetas que proclamen acerca de ti en Jerusalén, diciendo: '¡Hay rey en Judá!' Tú puedes estar seguro que el rey escuchará estos reportes. Por lo tanto, permítannos hablar los unos con los otros."
Y que has puesto profetas que prediquen de ti en Jerusalem, diciendo: ¡Rey en Judá! Y ahora serán oídas del rey las tales palabras: ven por tanto, y consultemos juntos.
And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.
You have also appointed prophets to proclaim of you at Jerusalem, saying, ‘There is a king in Judah!’ Now it will be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let’s take counsel together.”
Entonces yo envié palabra a él diciendo: "Ninguna que tales cosas han ocurrido como tú dices, porque dentro de tu corazón tú las inventaste."
Entonces envié yo á decirle: No hay tal cosa como dices, sino que de tu corazón tú lo inventas.
Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.
Then I sent to him, saying, “There are no such things done as you say, but you imagine them out of your own heart.”
Porque todos querían hacer que tuviéramos miedo, pensando: "Ellos dejarán de hacer el trabajo, y no será hecho." Pero ahora, Dios, por favor fortalece mis manos.
Porque todos ellos nos ponían miedo, diciendo: Debilitaránse las manos de ellos en la obra, y no será hecha. Esfuerza pues mis manos, oh Dios.
For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.
For they all would have made us afraid, saying, “Their hands will be weakened from the work, that it not be done.” But now, strengthen my hands.
Yo fui a la casa de Semaías, hijo de Delaía, hijo de Mehetabel, que estaba confinado en su casa. Él dijo: "Vamos a reunirnos en la casa de Dios, dentro del templo, y cerremos las puertas del templo, porque ellos vienen a matarte. En la noche ellos vendrán a matarte."
Vine luego en secreto á casa de Semaías hijo de Delaías, hijo de Mehetabeel, porque él estaba encerrado; el cual me dijo: Juntémonos en la casa de Dios dentro del templo, y cerremos las puertas del templo, porque vienen para matarte; sí, esta noche vendrán á matarte.
Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.
I went to the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabel, who was shut in at his home; and he said, “Let us meet together in God’s house, within the temple, and let’s shut the doors of the temple; for they will come to kill you. Yes, in the night they will come to kill you.”
Yo respondí: "¿Un hombre como yo huiría? Y un hombre como yo, ¿entraría al templo sólo para poder vivir? Yo no entraré!"
Entonces dije: ¿Un hombre como yo ha de huir? ¿y quién, que como yo fuera, entraría al templo para salvar la vida? No entraré.
And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.
I said, “Should a man like me flee? Who is there that, being such as I, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.”
Me di cuenta que no fue Dios quien lo envió, sino que él había profetizado en mi contra. Tobías y Sanbalat lo habían contratado.
Y entendí que Dios no lo había enviado, sino que hablaba aquella profecía contra mí, porque Tobías y Sanballat le habían alquilado por salario.
And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.
I discerned, and behold, God had not sent him, but he pronounced this prophecy against me. Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.
Ellos lo contrataron para que yo tuviera miedo, para que yo hiciera lo que él decía y pecara, para que así ellos pudieran desacreditarme y de esta manera humillarme.
Porque sobornado fué para hacerme temer así, y que pecase, y les sirviera de mal nombre con que fuera yo infamado.
Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
He was hired so that I would be afraid, do so, and sin, and that they might have material for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
Trae a tu mente a Tobías y Sanbalat, mi Dios, y todo lo que ellos hicieron. También trae a tu mente la profetiza Noadías y al resto de los profetas quienes trataron de intimidarme.
Acuérdate, Dios mío, de Tobías y de Sanballat, conforme á estas sus obras, y también de Noadías profetisa, y de los otros profetas que hacían por ponerme miedo.
My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.
“Remember, my God, Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and also the prophetess Noadiah and the rest of the prophets that would have put me in fear.”
Así que el muro fue terminado en el día veinticinco del mes de Elul, después de cincuenta y dos días.

Cuando todos nuestros enemigos escucharon de ésto, todas las naciones alrededor nuestro se sintieron atemorizados y ellos decayeron grandemente en su propia estima. Porque sabían que la obra había sido hecha con la ayuda de nuestro Dios.
Y como lo oyeron todos nuestros enemigos, temieron todas las gentes que estaban en nuestros alrededores, y abatiéronse mucho sus ojos, y conocieron que por nuestro Dios había sido hecha esta obra.
And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.
When all our enemies heard of it, all the nations that were around us were afraid, and they lost their confidence; for they perceived that this work was done by our God.
En este tiempo los nobles de Judá enviaron muchas cartas a Tobías, y las cartas de Tobías llegaron a ellos.
Asimismo en aquellos días iban muchas cartas de los principales de Judá á Tobías, y las de Tobías venían á ellos.
Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them.

Porque habían muchos en Judá quienes estaban atados a él por un juramento, porque él era el yerno de Secanías hijo de Ara. Su hijo Johanán había tomado como su esposa a la hija de Mesulam hijo de Berequías.

For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he was the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.

Ellos también me hablaron acerca de sus buenas obras y reportaron mis palabras a él. Cartas de Tobías fueron enviadas a mí para asustarme.
