Y había quien decía: Nosotros, nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas, somos muchos: hemos por tanto tomado grano para comer y vivir.
For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live.
For there were some who said, “We, our sons and our daughters, are many. Let us get grain, that we may eat and live.”
Habían otros más que dijeron: "Estamos empeñando nuestros campos, nuestros viñedos, y nuestras casas para obtener grano durante la hambruna."
Y había quienes decían: Hemos empeñado nuestras tierras, y nuestras viñas, y nuestras casas, para comprar grano en el hambre.
Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.
There were also some who said, “We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards, and our houses. Let us get grain, because of the famine.”
Otros también dijeron: "Hemos tomado dinero prestado para pagar los impuestos del rey sobre nuestros campos y nuestros viñedos.
Y había quienes decían: Hemos tomado prestado dinero para el tributo del rey, sobre nuestras tierras y viñas.
There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.
There were also some who said, “We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute using our fields and our vineyards as collateral.
Todavía ahora nuestra carne y sangre es la misma como la de nuestros hermanos y nuestros hijos son los mismos como sus hijos. Somos forzados a vender nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas para que sean esclavos. Algunas de nuestras hijas ya han sido esclavizadas. Pero no está en nuestro poder ayudar, porque otros hombres ahora poseen nuestros campos y nuestros viñedos."
Ahora bien, nuestra carne es como la carne de nuestros hermanos, nuestros hijos como sus hijos: y he aquí que nosotros sujetamos nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas á servidumbre, y hay algunas de nuestras hijas sujetas: mas no hay facultad en nuestras manos para rescatarlas, porque nuestras tierras y nuestras viñas son de otros.

Ellos estaban en silencio y nunca encontraron una palabra para decir.
Y díjeles: Nosotros rescatamos á nuestros hermanos Judíos que habían sido vendidos á las gentes, conforme á la facultad que había en nosotros: ¿y vosotros aun vendéis á vuestros hermanos, y serán vendidos á nosotros? Y callaron, que no tuvieron qué responder.
And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.
I said to them, “We, after our ability, have redeemed our brothers the Jews that were sold to the nations; and would you even sell your brothers, and should they be sold to us?” Then they held their peace, and found not a word to say.
También dije: "Lo que ustedes están haciendo no es bueno. ¿No deberían andar en el temor de nuestro Dios para prevenir las burlas de las naciones que son nuestras enemigas?
Y dije: No es bien lo que hacéis, ¿no andaréis en temor de nuestro Dios, por no ser el oprobio de las gentes enemigas nuestras?
Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?

Yo y mis hermanos y mis siervos les estamos prestando dinero y grano a ellos. Pero debemos parar de cobrar interés sobre estos préstamos.

I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury.

Luego ellos dijeron: "Devolveremos lo que tomamos de ellos y no requeriremos nada de ellos. Haremos como usted dice." Entonces llamé a los sacerdotes y los hice jurar hacer como ellos habían prometido.
Y dijeron: Devolveremos, y nada les demandaremos; haremos así como tú dices. Entonces convoqué los sacerdotes, y juramentélos que harían conforme á esto.

En mi mesa estaban los judíos y los oficiales, ciento cincuenta hombres, aparte de aquellos que vinieron a nosotros de entre las naciones que nos rodeaban.
Además ciento y cincuenta hombres de los Judíos y magistrados, y los que venían á nosotros de las gentes que están en nuestros contornos, estaban á mi mesa.

Ahora lo que estaba preparado cada día era un buey, seis ovejas escogidas y también aves y cada diez días toda clase de vino en abundancia. Y aún para todo ésto yo no exigí la remesa de alimento del gobernador, porque las exigencias eran demasiado pesadas sobre el pueblo.
