Y FUÉ en el mes de Nisán, en el año veinte del rey Artajerjes, que estando ya el vino delante de él, tomé el vino, y dílo al rey. Y como yo no había estado antes triste en su presencia,
And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence.

E il re mi disse: Per qual motivo la tua faccia è maninconiosa non vedendo, che tu abbi alcun male? questo non è senza motivo; ma tu covi in cuor tuo non so che di sinistro. E io ebbi paura grandissima:
Díjome el rey: ¿Por qué está triste tu rostro, pues no estás enfermo? No es esto sino quebranto de corazón. Entonces temí en gran manera.
Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,
The king said to me, “Why is your face sad, since you are not sick? This is nothing else but sorrow of heart.” Then I was very much afraid.
E dissi al re: O re, sia eterno il tuo vivere: come vuoi tu, che la mia faccia non sia dolente, mentre la città, casa de' sepolcri de' padri miei, è deserta, e le sue porte consunte dal fuoco?
Y dije al rey: El rey viva para siempre. ¿Cómo no estará triste mi rostro, cuando la ciudad, casa de los sepulcros de mis padres, está desierta, y sus puertas consumidas del fuego?
And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?
I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! Why shouldn’t my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ tombs, lies waste, and its gates have been consumed with fire?”
E il re mi disse: Che domandi? E io pregai il Dio del cielo,

Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.

E dissi al re: Se il re lo crede ben fatto, e se il tuo servo ha incontrato favore dinanzi a te, mandami nella Giudea alla città, dove posa il sepolcro del padre mio, e io la riedificherò.

E il re, e la regina, che gli sedeva accanto, mi dissero: Quanto durerà il tuo viaggio, e quando ritornerai? E io fissai il tempo, e il re mostrò di esser contento: e mi diede licenza.
Entonces el rey me dijo, (y la reina estaba sentada junto á él): ¿Hasta cuándo será tu viaje, y cuándo volverás? Y plugo al rey enviarme, después que yo le señalé tiempo.

Ma io dissi al re: Se al re così pare, mi dia lettere ai governatori del paese di là dal fiume, affinchè mi diano scorta, sino al mio arrivo nella Giudea:

Quindi io dissi loro: Voi vedete in quale afflizione ci troviamo: Gerusalemme è deserta, e le sue porte consunte dal fuoco: venite, edifichiamo le mura di Gerusalemme, e non istiamo più in questa ignominia.
Díjeles pues: Vosotros veis el mal en que estamos, que Jerusalem está desierta, y sus puertas consumidas del fuego: venid, y edifiquemos el muro de Jerusalem, y no seamos más en oprobio.
Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.
Then I said to them, “You see the bad situation that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come, let’s build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we won’t be disgraced.”
E indicai loro come la mano aiutatrice di Dio era meco, e le parole dettemi dal re; e soggiunsi: Su via, mettiamoci a fabbricare. E quelli preser vigore a ben fare.
Entonces les declaré cómo la mano de mi Dios era buena sobre mí, y asimismo las palabras del rey, que me había dicho. Y dijeron: Levantémonos, y edifiquemos. Así esforzaron sus manos para bien.
Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.

Ma Sanaballath Horonita, e Tobia servo Ammonita, e Gosem Arabo, saputa la nuova, ci dileggiavano, e per ispregio dicevano: Che è quel, che voi fate? Vi ribellate forse contro del re?
Mas habiéndolo oído Samballat Horonita, y Tobías el siervo Ammonita, y Gesem el Arabe, escarnecieron de nosotros, y nos despreciaron, diciendo: ¿Qué es esto que hacéis vosotros? ¿os rebeláis contra el rey?

Ma risposi a coloro, e dissi: Il Dio del cielo egli è, che ci aiuta, e noi siamo suoi servi, e anderemo avanti, e fabbricheremo: ma voi non avete comunanza, né diritto, né ricordanza in Gerusalemme. Sono edificate le mura, le torri, e le porte di Gerusalemme dà diverse persone, che son qui riferite.
Y volvíles respuesta, y díjeles: El Dios de los cielos, él nos prosperará, y nosotros sus siervos nos levantaremos y edificaremos: que vosotros no tenéis parte, ni derecho, ni memoria en Jerusalem.
Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.
