Guai a te, città di sangue, tutta menzogne, piena di strage, e di incessante rapina.

¡AY de la ciudad de sangres, toda llena de mentira y de rapiña, sin apartarse de ella el pillaje!

Romor di sferza, romore di ruote precipitose, e di frementi cavalli, e di cocchi ardenti, e di cavalleria, che si inoltra;

Sonido de látigo, y estruendo de movimiento de ruedas; y caballo atropellador, y carro saltador;

The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.

E di spada, che lampeggia, e di lancia folgoreggiante, e di turba, che è uccisa, e di grave ruina; sono senza fine i cadaveri, gli uni cadono sui corpi degli altri.

Caballero enhiesto, y resplandor de espada, y resplandor de lanza; y multitud de muertos, y multitud de cadáveres; y de sus cadáveres no habrá fin, y en sus cadáveres tropezarán:

The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:

Per ragion delle molte fornicazioni della meretrice avvenente, e graziosa, che ha l'arte degl'incantesimi, che ha fatte schiave di sue fornicazioni le genti, e le famiglie de' suoi incantesimi.

A causa de la multitud de las fornicaciones de la ramera de hermosa gala, maestra de brujerías, que vende las gentes con sus fornicaciones, y los pueblos con sus hechizos.

Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.

Eccomi a te, dice il Signor degli eserciti, e io svelerò sotto i tuoi occhi le tue ignominie, e farò vedere alle genti la tua nudità, e i tuoi obbrobrj a tutti i reami.

Heme aquí contra ti, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, y descubriré tus faldas en tu cara, y mostraré á las gentes tu desnudez, y á los reinos tu vergüenza.

Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.

E sopra di te getterò le (tue) abbominazioni, e ti caricherò di contumelie, e farotti un esempio.

Y echaré sobre ti suciedades, y te afrentaré, y te pondré como estiércol.

And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.

E allora tutti quelli, che ti vedranno, si tireranno indietro lungi da te, e diranno: Ninive è desolata. Chi scuoterà il capo sopra di te? Donde cercherò io un consolatore per te?

Y será que todos los que te vieren, se apartarán de ti, y dirán: Nínive es asolada: ¿quién se compadecerá de ella? ¿dónde te buscaré consoladores?

And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?

It will happen that all those who look at you will flee from you, and say, ‘Nineveh is laid waste! Who will mourn for her?’ Where will I seek comforters for you?”

Se' tu forse migliore della popolosa Alessandria, che risiede in mezzo a' fiumi, ed è cinta dalle acque, il di cui tesoro è il mare, e le sue mura sono le acque?

¿Eres tú mejor que No-amón, que estaba asentada entre ríos, cercada de aguas, cuyo baluarte era la mar, y del mar su muralla?

Sua fortezza fu l'Etiopia, e l'Egitto, che non ha fine: l'Affrica, e la Libia le diedero aiuti.

Etiopía era su fortaleza, y Egipto sin límite; Put y Libia fueron en tu ayuda.

Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.

Cush and Egypt were her boundless strength. Put and Libya were her helpers.

Ma ella pure fu menata schiava in paese straniero: i suoi pargoletti furono infranti negli angoli di tutte le strade: e i suoi nobili furon tirati a sorte, e i suoi grandi conficcati ne' ceppi.

También ella fué llevada en cautiverio: también sus chiquitos fueron estrellados en las encrucijadas de todas las calles; y sobre sus varones echaron suertes, y todos sus magnates fueron aprisionados con grillos.

Così anche tu berai fino all'ebbrezza, e sarai conculcata, e aiuto chiederai dal nimico.

Tú también serás embriagada, serás encerrada; tú también buscarás fortaleza á causa del enemigo.

Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.

Tutte le tue fortezze saranno come que' fichi primaticci, i quali ad una scossa cadono in bocca di chi se li mangia.

Todas tus fortalezas cual higueras con brevas; que si las sacuden, caen en la boca del que las ha de comer.

All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.

All your fortresses will be like fig trees with the first-ripe figs. If they are shaken, they fall into the mouth of the eater.

Ecco che in mezzo a te il tuo è popolo di donne. Saranno spalancate le porte del tuo paese, e le sbarre saran consumate dal fuoco.

He aquí, tu pueblo será como mujeres en medio de ti: las puertas de tu tierra se abrirán de par en par á tus enemigos: fuego consumirá tus barras.

Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.

Behold, your troops among you are women. The gates of your land are set wide open to your enemies. The fire has devoured your bars.

Attingi acqua per l'assedio, ristora le tue fortificazioni, metti i piedi nel fango, e pestalo, e impastandolo fanne mattoni.

Provéete de agua para el cerco, fortifica tus fortalezas; entra en el lodo, pisa el barro, fortifica el horno.

Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.

Draw water for the siege. Strengthen your fortresses. Go into the clay, and tread the mortar. Make the brick kiln strong.

Allora ti consumerà il fuoco, ti sterminerà la spada, la quale ti divorerà, come fa il bruco: raguna gente in tanto numero come i bruchi, e come le locuste.

Allí te consumirá el fuego, te talará la espada, te devorará como pulgón: multiplícate como langosta, multiplícate como langosta.

There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.

There the fire will devour you. The sword will cut you off. It will devour you like the grasshopper. Multiply like grasshoppers. Multiply like the locust.

Avesti più mercatanti, che non sono le stelle del cielo; ma il bruco ingrassato vola via.

Multiplicaste tus mercaderes más que las estrellas del cielo: el pulgón hizo presa, y voló.

Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away.

You have increased your merchants more than the stars of the skies. The grasshopper strips and flees away.

I tuoi custodi simili alle locuste, e i tuoi piccoli come le tenere locuste, le quali si posano sulle siepi nel freddo tempo: ma nato il sole volano via, e non si sa dov'elle si fosser fermate.

Tus príncipes serán como langostas, y tus grandes como langostas de langostas que se sientan en vallados en día de frío: salido el sol se mudan, y no se conoce el lugar donde estuvieron.

Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

Your guards are like the locusts, and your officials like the swarms of locusts, which settle on the walls on a cold day, but when the sun appears, they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

Dormono, o re di Assur, i tuoi Pastori: sono sepolti i tuoi principi, a tua gente va a nascondersi per le montagne, e non v'è chi la raduni.

Durmieron tus pastores, oh rey de Asiria, reposaron tus valientes: tu pueblo se derramó por los montes, y no hay quien lo junte.

Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.

Your shepherds slumber, king of Assyria. Your nobles lie down. Your people are scattered on the mountains, and there is no one to gather them.

La tua ferita non è segreta, gravissima ell'è la tua piaga: tutti quelli, che hanno udite nuove di te, hanno battuto palma a palma per l'allegrezza: imperocché a chi non fece male in ogni tempo la tua malizia? Ammira il Profeta, che l'empio abbia prosperità, e prevalga contro il giusto. Il Signore contro i Giudei manderà il Caldeo, il quale la sua vittoria attribuirà non a Dio, ma a' suoi idoli.

No hay cura para tu quebradura; tu herida se encrudeció: todos los que oyeron tu fama, batirán las manos sobre ti, porque ¿sobre quién no pasó continuamente tu malicia?

There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?

There is no healing your wound, for your injury is fatal. All who hear the report of you clap their hands over you, for who hasn’t felt your endless cruelty?
