Nova Bíblia Viva
1Esta é a visão que o Senhor deu a Naum, que vivia em Elcós. Ela trata do julgamento prestes a acontecer contra Nínive:
2O Senhor é um Deus zeloso com aqueles a quem ele ama. É por isso que se vinga dos que os maltratam. Ele destrói furiosamente os inimigos do seu povo.
3O Senhor é muito paciente e o seu poder é imenso. O Senhor não deixará de punir o culpado. Ele mostra seu poder nas grandes tempestades e nos furiosos temporais. As nuvens imensas são como poeira debaixo de seus pés!
4À sua ordem os oceanos e rios se transformam em terra seca. Os pastos verdejantes de Basã e do Carmelo secam, e as florestas do Líbano murcham completamente.
5Em sua presença os montes estremecem e os morros se derretem; a terra se desfaz e seus habitantes são destruídos.
6Quem pode resistir a um Deus enfurecido? Quem fica firme quando ele está zangado? A sua fúria é como o fogo. As montanhas desmoronam diante dele.
7O Senhor é bom. Quando chega a aflição, ele é o lugar em que nós podemos nos esconder! Ele conhece todos os que nele confiam,
8mas arrasa seus inimigos com uma tremenda inundação. Ele os arrasta para a escuridão. E assim será com Nínive.
9Que planos vocês fazem para desafiar o Senhor? Com um só golpe ele os deterá. Nem vai ser preciso um segundo golpe!
10Ele lança seus inimigos ao fogo como um monte de ramos de espinheiro. Eles queimarão como palha seca.
11Foi de você, ó Nínive, que saiu a audácia de fazer planos perversos contra o Senhor?
12Assim diz o Senhor: “Mesmo que arme um exército de milhões de soldados”, diz o Senhor, “serão ceifados e destruídos e desaparecerão; mas você, Judá, é o meu povo. Eu já os castiguei o bastante!
13Agora vou quebrar suas cadeias e libertá-los da escravidão”.
14E ao rei da Assíria ele diz: “Já decretei o fim de sua família real. Seus filhos não se sentarão no trono, e o seu nome desaparecerá! Destruirei seus deuses de pedra e metal e seus templos. Eu mesmo cavarei a sua sepultura, porque você é desprezível!”
15Olhem! Os mensageiros vêm correndo montanha abaixo, trazendo as boas notícias: “Os invasores foram completamente destruídos! Estamos salvos! Salvos!” Ó Judá, anunciem um dia de agradecimento ao Senhor. Adorem somente a ele, como prometeram. O perverso nunca mais marchará contra vocês. Foi destruído para sempre, nunca mais será visto.

2Dios celoso y vengador es Jehová; vengador es Jehová, y Señor de ira; Jehová, que se venga de sus adversarios, y que guarda enojo para sus enemigos.
3Jehová es tardo para la ira, y grande en poder, y no tendrá al culpado por inocente. Jehová marcha entre la tempestad y turbión, y las nubes son el polvo de sus pies.
4El amenaza á la mar, y la hace secar, y agosta todos los ríos: Basán fué destruído, y el Carmelo, y la flor del Líbano fué destruída.
5Los montes tiemblan de él, y los collados se deslíen; y la tierra se abrasa á su presencia, y el mundo, y todos los que en él habitan.
6¿Quién permanecerá delante de su ira? ¿y quién quedará en pié en el furor de su enojo? Su ira se derrama como fuego, y por él se hienden las peñas.
7Bueno es Jehová para fortaleza en el día de la angustia; y conoce á los que en él confían.
8Mas con inundación impetuosa hará consumación de su lugar, y tinieblas perseguirán á sus enemigos.
9¿Qué pensáis contra Jehová? El hará consumación: la tribulación no se levantará dos veces.
10Porque como espinas entretegidas, mientras se embriagarán los borrachos, serán consumidos como las estopas llenas de sequedad.
11De ti salió el que pensó mal contra Jehová, un consultor impío.
12Así ha dicho Jehová: Aunque reposo tengan, y sean tantos, así serán talados, y él pasará. Bien que te he afligido, no más te afligiré.
13Porque ahora quebraré su yugo de sobre ti, y romperé tus coyundas.
14Mas acerca de ti mandará Jehová, que nunca más sea sembrado alguno de tu nombre: de la casa de tu dios talaré escultura y estatua de fundición, haréla tu sepulcro; porque fuiste vil.
15He aquí sobre los montes los pies del que trae buenas nuevas, del que pregona la paz. Celebra, oh Judá, tus fiestas, cumple tus votos: porque nunca más pasará por ti el malvado; pereció del todo.

1The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
2God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.
3The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
5The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
6Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.
7The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
8But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
9What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
10For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
11There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor.
12Thus saith the LORD; Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
13For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
14And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.
15Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.

2The LORD is a jealous God and avenges. The LORD avenges and is full of wrath. The LORD takes vengeance on his adversaries, and he maintains wrath against his enemies.
3The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. The LORD has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel languish. The flower of Lebanon languishes.
5The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it.
6Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the fierceness of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken apart by him.
7The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who take refuge in him.
8But with an overflowing flood, he will make a full end of her place, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.
9What do you plot against the LORD? He will make a full end. Affliction won’t rise up the second time.
10For entangled like thorns, and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly like dry stubble.
11One has gone out of you who devises evil against the LORD, who counsels wickedness.
12The LORD says: “Though they are in full strength and likewise many, even so they will be cut down and pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.
13Now I will break his yoke from off you, and will burst your bonds apart.”
14The LORD has commanded concerning you: “No more descendants will bear your name. Out of the house of your gods, I will cut off the engraved image and the molten image. I will make your grave, for you are vile.”
15Behold, on the mountains the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace! Keep your feasts, Judah! Perform your vows, for the wicked one will no more pass through you. He is utterly cut off.
